This video is gold dust. The bearings in my hub fell out in pieces. This tutorial enabled me to replace then without any problems. Why can’t all tutorials be like this?
This definitely answered my questions. I had almost gotten to the "whacking it with the hammer" part when he explained that the freehub body and axle flats have to align to get the freehub off. That certainly made it a lot easier.
Thanks Al, always like watching your videos and this one was no different. Just replaced my bearings by following your detailed instructions, it is much appreciated. Great job
Great video, easy to follow instructions. Having the same skill to the the job (ie. getting the old bearings out - great job!) is something that sadly can't be passed on through TH-cam.
Great video , for me that uses fulcrum wheels, it will help me when i need to replace those bearings in freehub. Now i see how easy is to replace then , before i would just bought a new one. Best regards and thank you
Nice video, I'd of liked you to carry on and do the week bearings , chances are if your inner free hub bearing is goosed your wheel bearings will be shot too ?
Would it not be better to use a sliver of anti seize/copper slip on the axle when putting the freehub body back and side of the bearings before putting them in?Good grease is fine for when you need lubrication but anti seize is better for its particular job of stopping stuff from getting stuck in. Also whats the point in adding more grease to the bearing race when its a sealed bearing anyways, defeats the object of a sealed bearing and introduces more friction with no gain, or do you think that grease on the race makes the bearing more weatherproof?
Here's a problem for you. I have Fulcrum Racing Zero wheels from year 2007 (2005...2009 that famous full red version). C clip in the freehub of those old wheels is totally different kind as you have in your video. There are no small holes in the ends of the c clip where you could apply your pliers. This c clip is quite similar to the one used in the right half axle of Campagnolo's Ultra Torque Bottom Bracket. So how do you remove such a c clip from the freehub body?
Nice. Why change bearing press between the intro and the detailed instructions? I suppose you need a drift that exactly matches the diameter of the bearings?
What size tip on the circlip pliers? I have 1.2mm and it is bloody hard getting a grip on it. I needed to grab it, squeeze, and jam a right angle scribe under it to pull it out with it coming off the circlip pliers.
Personally I use a proper bearing extracter tool of the appropriate size to extract the bearings so they are knocked out square. If you use a single punch in just one place, as shown, there is a danger of the bearing scraping the side of the free hub body as it is knocked out. The tightening torque for the free hub locking nut is 15nm......you do not want this to come loose.
I replaced my pawl spring with what should be the exact replacement but it appears to be too short - it isn't long enough to fully cover and pull out the 3rd pawl. The shape and size seems to match yours though. Any thought as to what I could be doing wrong?
I've got Fulcrum Racing 5 LG Disc wheels and tried to follow this video. However, at 2:04 it mentions to use a 5mm hex wrench inside the axle to loosen it from the freehub. My axle just has a circular whole through the center, nothing for a hex wrench to fit into. I see where to attach the spanner on the outside, but there doesn't seem to be anything to hold the axle in place while turning the spanner.
I did get past it. I think I just turned the spanner on the outside and held the other end in place with my fingers and surprisingly it worked. I was expecting a lot more resistance. In the end, though, I found that getting the inner bearing out of the hub was impossible (outer bearing was easy). I soaked it in PB Blaster for a day then used a bearing removal tool, but it was still so lodged in there that the bearing innards broke out of it, with the outer bearing ring still firmly buried in the freehub. So I decided I needed to instead replace the freehub, but found it difficult to determine which freehub I needed. I emailed Campagnolo about this and the bearing being stuck in the freehub and they responded with this: "If you are looking for a Shimano/SRAM freehub body then yes FH-BUU015x1 is the correct part number for your Fulcrum Racing 5 LG wheelset. And just so you know even we do not replace freehub bearings as it is extremely difficult." I ended up ordering the freehub from Amazon: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DHGSS6M/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
My bearing was seized in the hub. Tried WD40 etc. with no joy. In the end I warmed it with a hairdryer on full and the bearing then popped out with one tap on the drift/punch.
I have Campagnolo Bullet 50s with steel bearings, and am curious how often I should service my bearings. I very rarely ride in the rain, and usually wipe my bike after every ride(2-3 times a week at 50km each ride) instead of washing it (about once a month). I have put 5000km on them in 1 year of owning them.
Can anyone elaborate about the axel and freehub having flats on them? Is this consistent across all Fulcrum wheelsets? I’m new to Fukcrum and didn’t receive the owners manual or similar specifics when I purchased my Fulcrum Racing Zeros from previous owner. Ran into some issues with play/wiggle in the cassette, so I took it to a reputable local shop, but they’re telling me that something is wrong because the axel has flat spots on it instead of being perfectly round
Hellow i need some help i need to upgrade my stock pr2 stock giant wheels they faling on me i need a budget wheel and i cant decide between mavic krysium or the quattro fulcrum lg what would be a better choice for the money or if there any best value wheel on the range thanks
Does Fulcrum Racing Quattro freehub will be interchangable with Campagnolo Eurus wheels? I need to replace Campy freehub on Eurus to Shimano that I have taken out from my old Fulcrum wheels.
I have a Fulcrum Racing DB with almost an identical setup. My issue is the freehub wont release , the pawls not engaging and its just rotating in both directions. Any ideas?
Fantastic video! Although, apropos of your remark at 6:20 that it is pointless to have the seals on the inside ... I am guessing that is why 95% of your audience is here. Water gets in there somehow, and absolutely wrecks the bearings. I replaced mine with double-sealed bearings.
Last moth, GCN has learned. Now it‘s time that cycling weekly has to learn it as well. Campagolo is a name and nobody pronounced the „g“ in the name. It‘s in all languages the same and it’s called „Campaniolo“
It never ceases to amaze me that professional-grade bicycle mechanics can't pronounce Campagnolo properly. I'll let the English flat A sound slide (should be more of the AH sound), but there is no hard G sound! The Italian GN blend sounds like NY, hence the brand should really be pronounced cahm-pahn-YO-lo.
The same thing happens in Spain, but here it's even more frustrating because we have a letter with de same sound "ñ" in spanish and "ny" in catalan, but despite that the people pronounce "cam -pag- no- lo"!!

Probably the best maintenance vid I've seen. Thanks.
Hahahaha yeah
Just saved me 50 quid replacing the whole body! Genius!
Excellent explantion all through the entire process. Five stars!
Thanks Al, always like watching your videos and this one was no different. Just replaced my bearings by following your detailed instructions, it is much appreciated. Great job
What a great instructional video, almost makes me want to go and do it
Could not figure out how to reinsert the pawl spring. You just saved me a few hairs. Thanks

If you look inside the freehub when it is on the weel you can see the bearing. Is that sealed for bad weather conditions?
Pawls replaced but how about the mating surface ratchet ring? This is the mating wear surface, so would also need replacement, correct?
How do you know when the second bearing is seated? Does it seat on the spacer?
I can't believe this most essential issue is ignored. The answer is no, as the sleeve has to free to float.
What size tip on the circlip pliers? I have 1.2mm and it is bloody hard getting a grip on it. I needed to grab it, squeeze, and jam a right angle scribe under it to pull it out with it coming off the circlip pliers.
Excellent video. Really comprehensive. Thanks

I don’t think you’ll get a bearing extractor to engage here. The floating sleeve inside the freehub prevents this.
Great vid, does anybody know the name of the bearing press used?
How come the splines on this campy freehub body looks different to the campy freehub on my easton wheels?
Thank you so much for this great instructions!!
Any videos for fulcrum red power hp thru axle freehub removal?
Who made the NICE bearing press.... the one he actually used?
Could someone please tell me the size of the spacer that's put on before the locknut at the end
Did I see a thin shim sitting behind the freehub body, it stuck to it on the way off? Mine has a shim but I can't work out where it came from!
I have a question please, can I use a 13 speed campagnolo hub with an 11 speed cassette?
no dust seal after putting the second bearing? my current cone is rusted, i thought is was damaged because of the lack of protection
how can i see if my rims are worn, fulcrum racing zero alu
Very clear instructions. Thanks for the vid
I think the RS-113 is for Shimano not Campagnolo. I don’t think Campagnolo do a steel body for 9/10/11 speed
Any thoughts on which bearings are required for a Vento G3 wheel set?

Tom Wallace did you ever figure out how to resolve this? I’m stuck with the same issue.
Same wheels, still stuck at removal stage. Used a spanner on both ends of the hub, but the wrong nut comes loose, so can't get the axle out.
Try this page www.campagnolo.com/media/files/035_71_Technical_manual_Campagnolo_OP004_Rev04_10_17_ENG.pdf

this video saved my race

Confused. I have seen lots of advice not to use grease inside the ratchet body but thin oil.

Where to buy the 6002 bearing drift in The Netherlands.
Do you have a similar video for ritchey vantage model freehub?
Great video, what size drifts do you use on the press? ta.
Amazing explanation thank you.
Clear and useful, appreciate it !
Does Fulcrum Racing Quattro freehub will be interchangable with Campagnolo Eurus wheels? I need to replace Campy freehub on Eurus to Shimano that I have taken out from my old Fulcrum wheels.
Paweł Bommersbach did it work?
Good video, well explained.
Excellent video and very helpful! Big compliments.
Great vid. Showed me exactly what to do!
this was perfect thank you fellas
Thank's for the video. What are the exact dimensions of the freehub bearings?
17x26x5mm
26x17x5mm (61803 2RS)
I think 2RS is the double rubber seal. You only need single rubber seal@@pinter1jozs704
I have a Fulcrum Racing DB with almost an identical setup. My issue is the freehub wont release , the pawls not engaging and its just rotating in both directions. Any ideas?
Did you figure this out?
Excellent 😃 Thank you !
Thanks for your tips. helped me out
Great video!
what would be the part number for an equivalent NTN or SKF bearing
61803 2RS (26x17x5)
thank you. super video ;)
You Saved My Wheel :)
I bought a new fulcrum racing 7 db wheelset. my freehub has almost no sound! I'm interested whay!?
Too much grease in there.
Great explanation.
nice work~~~
learn a lot from this video~~~
thanks!
The seals are only on one side to allow junk in.
Excellent, very clear.
what kind of grease do you use ?
I use a water repelent grease www.massi.bike/products/039631/grasa-massi-blanca-profesional-ptfe-100g?lg=en , you can use other brand
Fantastic video! Although, apropos of your remark at 6:20 that it is pointless to have the seals on the inside ... I am guessing that is why 95% of your audience is here. Water gets in there somehow, and absolutely wrecks the bearings. I replaced mine with double-sealed bearings.
Just about to do mine. Wish me luck :-)
Good luck
excellent video....thanks!
Al's the man.
Campaggggnoowlooow :). It's campagnolo (campañolo, or as in yolo). Excellent video though!
What a filthy wheel!
Shimano grease on a fulcrum hub
Sacrilege!

Gold👍
Instead of buying an expensive bearing tool. Use a socket and a bolt or threaded rod.
Not a job I would do myself...stick to brake pads and tyres!
Vos can pulsate, non ex portantes. Damnum sedes!
Would definitely f*ck this up...
step 1: clean the fuckin' wheel!

For your next trick please let us know how to pronounce "Paris".
not crazy about buying a bearing press to do a job probably once. Poor design
There’s no ‘h’ when pronouncing the letter H; it’s pronounced ‘aitch’ FFS!
Please learn to pronounce Campagnolo correctly. In a video like this it is really annoying to hear it mispronounced again and again.
