while everyone else pretends PlayStation is in trouble it's xbox who's is on the verge of being discontinued.

The big problem with all of this service based gaming is that it does suck a lot of the fun out of gaming itself. The anticipation and event of big games releasing and actually getting your hands on the game is being stifled. The depreciation of the games themselves is becoming more and more apparent. It is no wonder that playstation first party games are held in such high regard because they are holding on to an ideal that most of us are desperately trying to keep around. People tend to forget that what made gaming a thriving industry to begin with had nothing to do with DLC skins map packs or the ability to play anywhere. It's all about the games.

I hate where gaming is going. I know it’s inevitable because there’s too many casuals and not enough of us old guard gamers who want complete products at release instead of being drip fed always online crap. The day there’s only Xbox’s way of gaming is my last day that I will be a gamer and turn into a retro gamer.

Yeah I peeped this a while ago, Xbox wants to be the Netflix of gaming but they don't have the EXCLUSIVE CONTENT to keep me there. Netflix is average at best but at least they have Stranger Things, Cobra Kai, Narco's, Ozark etc. It's like Xbox wants that 15 a month without delivering quality content, they should get the fuck out of gaming!

Microsoft is about the people with game pass. a low monthly subscription Backwards Compatibility game And free upgrades on games. PlayStation on the other hand charges you for everything! They went up on price on the games Plus they charge you if you want to play their old titles from their subscription service even though you may own the game physical. They charge you for an upgrade fee on games if you want them to be 4K 120 hertz when that's what you bought the console for that should be a free upgrade if you have the game

PlayStation and Nintendo keep their developers happy like 90% of the time and in return we the fans get great quality exclusive games. Games that people are eager to play and spend their hard earned money on and feel like it’s worth buying. Then there’s the nostalgia factor that you feel, but absolutely don’t get that from Xbox.
I agree. Sony adapted in the US markets when they filled the gap that Xbox could not. I know it feels like Sony abandoned Japan but mobile gaming is king over there so that’s Nintendo and android’s/iOS’s territory. They are still making quality Japanese titles here.
Original xbox is very nostalgic and the games don't look like crap.

I’ve said this a million times myself.
The only way Gamepass can be sustainable long-term is if it’s on every single platform, including PlayStation and Nintendo platforms.
That’s why I wholeheartedly believe that Microsoft’s endgame is to be in a position, where every game in Gamepass is first party only with no multi-plats needed to bolster the service.
That’s why I believe they bought both Bethesda and Activision blizzard.
I then believe, once Microsoft are in the position, (that every Gamepass game is first party), they will then try again to get Gamepass on PlayStation. Plus the Switch (even if that’s just through streaming).
If the service was first party only, I honestly believe that Sony may actually allow Gamepass on PlayStation, because in that situation, all the games in the service would not be games that would otherwise be sold on their platform or could be removed by Microsoft.
If successful and Sony and Nintendo do agree, I then believe Microsoft would also sell their games on PlayStation and the Switch where possible and get out of the console (hardware) market all together.

These guys didn't want to compete...instead of launching games at the same level of qualities as the competition, they decided to use their trillions to pay to win. What's good for this industry is companies competing and dropping classics, we don't care if they're exclusives. If ps has gems, xbox has gems, at the end of the day we all win, we will be enticed to buy multiple consoles cause they're all dropping heat.

PlayStation has the best gaming hardware out also compared to PC therefore you want PlayStation exclusives as the PlayStation exclusives will not be held back by the limits of the other hardwares the game would release on if the game was not a PlayStation exclusive.....
I agree on both spectrums however again gems are gems. We the gamers need to take back the buying power. Devs create games, however we make the choice to buy into the market place. We the gamers invest in the hardware and console for a gaming experience. Let's vote with are wallets. Services are just cash grabs, real players want games and Jem's not just services from the stream yards.

Having both quality is very subjective and the consoles are aimed at different audiences Xbox from the outset was the hardcore shooter Centric multiplayer console and playstation is a more casual focused console so the games have little crossover appeal TLOU is a masterpeice on playstation but might be considered slow and boring to xbox players

I think as long as the Xbox console exists, gamepass will never be where Microsoft wants it to be. Sony and Nintendo would never put Gamepass on their consoles as long as the Xbox exists, because they’re a competitor. I think if the Xbox goes away, Sony and Nintendo will just treat Microsoft as any other 3rd party publisher, and may consider a version of Gamepass on their consoles, just like Ea Play and Ubisoft +

I knew Xbox was finished as a console brand the day I had a MS OS update and got prompted by a generic "GamePass" desktop gaming launcher app upon restarting
I knew something was up when the xsx been out for 2yrs without any quality material other than halo, Forza, and gears. Even starfield(their most anticipated games)isn't enough.
they did the same for 5-6 years before that, on the xbox one/s/x, always "just wait for " and then just more empty promises, their biggest games were crackdown and sea of thieves, should tell you everything you need to know, now its pretty much the same.
10+ games announced 2 years ago, nothing out yet, no alpha gameplay/concept, just some vague cinematic teasers, and their QuADrUpLe A studio The Initiative cant even do a Perfect Dark game, a franchise that has already created world, characters and lore, they just need to do a game in that world and they cant even do that and need Crystal Dynamics to come help them, how would they even create a new "AAAA IP as if that means anything anymore once Phil Spenceezy gets to hype up stuff" from scratch if they cant do a game in an established IP. Just pathetic.

Edit: Very true about building PC Gaming machines. I love to build high end PCs and spend $2,500 to $3,000, and use it for 6 months. Then I sell it to build another high end gaming PC. I do this as a Hobbie and never use PC to game on.

Same here bro. I built my first pc for learning purposes since I'm an IT student, but I don't use it for gaming lmao. I just love the plug and play nature of consoles. I will always be a console gamer first. I buy all my games on my ps5 and use the pc for some indies.
I wonder what I am then? I buy gaming laptops to use for actual gaming and as a PC... to me its like a console that does everything. Couldnt care less for building one and i love to use mods but not make them. If i want to use a tv, plug in a HDMI, if i want a controller.. its compatible. maybe in 2000's it was complicated but a laptop is plug n play and you can work/shop/etc on it.

I use to belive PC gaming was the future of gaming, but the PS5 proved me wrong. The PS5 is outperforming the XBSX in every multi-plat game and high end gaming PCs.
Edit; PC gaming is becoming less wanted, because the consoles are performing games better than a PC. The XBSX game performance is better than a PC and the PS5 outperforms both.

All facts. After buying OG Xbox and seeing how Microsoft drop support right after 360 launched I prioritized Sony and Nintendo over Microsoft. They always seem off putting when entering the next gen. Don’t carry support like they should. Just look at the current state of Xbox one s/x support in some games. Series S is not next gen in anything but load times. Often missing visual support features like X. People were acting like resolution would be the only downgrade. Now we losing visual effects like depth of field, motion blurr, downgraded shadows, lower res textures, no performance mode in some games locked to 30fps, missing ray tracing modes in some games, vrr support in some games.
But it’s next gen?

This dude spits so much facts. Xbox Box has been priming the market to become the new Sega. They don't want to be in the console business they want to be in the game distribution system.
They want to create a global gaming app. Getting Gamepass on PlayStation is the end goal. They are already in development with Roku to develop a Gamepass app.
In five years you will see Gamepass loaded onto every smart tv.
This is why they buying so many publishers. Once they get enough first party content they will be able to stop paying for third party content and Gamepass will be a subscription service that pushes out only first party games which will allow them to be a app on PlayStation. They want in Sony's customer base.

I’ve said this long ago. Microsoft is gonna end Xbox consoles and it’s going to just be a subscription service. Microsoft has always tried to follow the new trend since Xbox one launch. They promoted Xbox one as a media console instead of a gaming console and failed miserably because at the time that was the thing with media devices and apps being on TVs an all. Now subscription service is the thing and they are pushing the future of gaming to be subscription service. They never cared about the games from the beginning.

Microsoft will be phasing out Xbox in the next 5 years. They will be a 3rd party dev team and make all the $$$$ for people that will buy their games. Remember there wasn't supposed to be a xbox after the x360. Wish I was joking. Happy I can see the train wreck years in advance. It wont work out for them in my opinion, they are buying up studios in bulk, but they are losing all the talented people from these studios because the developers fear game pass like a plague, its the sweatshop of the game industry, the killer of creativity where they see themselves being forced to make games on a conveyor just for the sake of pushing content out, netflix style.
Its why most of their studios have problems developing games, the turnaround is too great, and the experienced people are leaving. Dont see it working out, not with the money they throw around, and the expectations they put out, the hyping of games and features that havent even been developed yet and years away, creating impossible expectation and adding to the pressure their studios already have.

And yet Obsidian are making some not even AA game, because its a 20$ game. How is that not going along with my point that they will be forced to make small games for the sake of pushing out content. Such games are for indi studios, you cant be owned by a trillion dollar company and work on an indi game that looks like a free web/flash game, when you have the talent and history of Obsidian.

When you have a business model driven by game sales, you need your game to be more mainstream than ever to get attention. That is what I call "killing creativity".
And the only reason why we aren't hearing sutff about avowed is because it isn't ready yet. It's like sony annoucing their 10 GaaS in 2019, when they weren't coming till 2024. So while it might be profitable for a small studio, it wouldnt be for them. So they announced games coming, like Elder Scrolls 6, Avowed, Fable, Perfect Dark, but then years later refuse to talk about them, because they are not ready.
Sure that makes sense, only if you sell snake oil to people and then hide from them when they start asking questions.
The games that Sony announced, were announced with an expected date, and a lot of them are out already, how can you compare that to just some vague 30 second cinematic teaser of something that hasnt even started production yet(ES6), or the "leaks" that Spencer and the rest "leak" of possible games, just to say it was just "leaks" years later when it turns out they were fake just to keep the people buying consoles with fake hopes and promises. Totally comparable.

Microsoft getting Activision-Blizzard was just for leverage. 70% of COD sales are on Sony hardware. Sony gamers are not converting to Xbox just to play COD. They won't even have to because Microsoft is still going to release it on Sony consoles, or else it would hurt their bottom line.

I’m trying to understand why these Activision Stans are so damn excited for being acquired by MS. I’m looking at the Publisher sale on Steam right now and that library is god-awful. Out of 40 some-odd titles, two of them look appealing.
Microsoft would have to bow out of the console market for Sony and Nintendo to even consider accepting Gamepass onto their platforms.
Xbox is buying all these publishers just to make gamepass look good. Not to make great or exclusive games but to show us that gamepass has alot of studios and so everyone will get the service. I read that interview differently. To me Phil Spencer wasn’t talking about Xbox games going to PlayStation outside of CoD of course, but more so about console exclusives going to other devices - that includes PlayStation as well.
Edit: At the 1:12 mark Phil Spencer isn’t talking about exclusives. He is talking about cross-play. He wants more games to support cross-play
@Crash bandi17t As a mainly PC player, I usually end up with mainly console players on BF 2042 and CoD, so I don’t think it’s a big enough issue.
@Crash bandi17t BF 2042 yeah easy kills. CoD is pretty balanced. Controller with aim assist has the advantage close range and mouse and keyboard has the advantage mid to long range.
Gaming is just the gateway for Microsoft to attempt to get what they want which is data and paying customers and to attempt to stick people to there software and services like Windows

On PlayStation everyone has essentially the same hardware and some developers mostly first party will truly crank the hardware to the max but with PC the market is so huge and open with everybody having different PC builds so when a game is being built for PC as developers you got to pick what specifications you want to build your game to and not everybody has the beast beast PC so you end up with PC games not looking or playing better than PlayStation exclusives for sure and non PlayStation exclusives and being built ultimately to specifications that are worse and or right near PlayStation specifications, but PlayStation is so custom PlayStation Inspires PC design as Tim Sweeney has said

So Kojima wanted to make a cloud based game. Like I have always said, I will give credit where credit is do and MS/Xbox has only two things going for them now. 1 having better servers for their new SaaS ecosystem only, so they will be no console needed and 2nd coming in dead last place every generation.
MS best bet for Xbox now is to just go 3rd party and try to get GP on Nintendo & PlayStation. Even knowing Sony & Nintendo don't want anything to do with trashy games on there platforms.

Sony doesn’t lose sales to pc...but pc actually CAN GIVE sales to Sony when Sony puts games on pc...usually years after the fact when all the PlayStation gamers who wanted to play an exclusive already have.

Sony and Nintendo can't afford to put a gamepass link on their consoles even if the Xbox piece of plastic goes away i feel. if gamepass goes on Sony for example all gamepass will be is be a 3rd party portal to stream games that Playstation is also selling for their console because Xbox won't be making any new games. I feel that even in that model Sony and Nintendo lose money. Only caviat being, Sony would have to charge Microsoft an inflated value totaling all their revenue from selling those 3rd party games on Playstation. Or Xbox would have to become a giant 1st party game maker, but allow their "exclusives" to be played on Playstation through this portal that Sony would get a kickback from. I don't think i see that happening personally.
