  • The Race For Leadership. Forward by Mike Hailwood.
I have this great book on Honda that has seen better days. It has been stuffed in drawers, under beds, in carboard boxes and on numerous of my book shelves in the decades it has been in my possession.. The forward to the book is written by Mike Hailwood who to me is the greatest racer of all time, with Giacomo Agostini being right behind.
My narration includes some great relative footage from the Isle of Man courtesy of the BBC.
This video is one of a series I have based on books in my personal bookshelf. The inspiration comes from me pulling a book from my shelf, mostly at random, opening the book to a random page, reading a paragraph, make some notes, them pull digital threads I find.
I digitize these and create a video like I have here. The narration and views are my own and no slight to anyone living or otherwise is intended. The material is my own or from freely available sources and copywrite if any stays with the original creator.
I sincerely hope you enjoy this that I have been able to transfer some of magic this book has provided me. My love for motorcycle racing, art and reading I hope is obvious.
I have been involved in motorcycling in Canada since the early sixties and have been close to Honda from the beginning. Visit my blog at winding-roads.ca for more

Nice. I was given a copy of this book by the U.S. Honda distributor in 1964 after I went to work for a new Honda dealer in White Plains, N.Y. and was pivotal in helping that new dealer get his first shipment of new Hondas assembled and serviced for delivery. I was so proud of it. The years took a toll on its condition and it began coming apart. By the 1990, it was pretty ragged and I eventually lost it during a move during hard times. So interesting to see other copies out there that are also appreciated.

I saw the great Mike Hailwood race many times at British short circuits as well as the Isle of Man (the famous Senior race in 1967). He was and remains my favourite road racer and I have never seen another rider that could hold a candle to him. What a tragic loss to his family and the racing community and to himself for not being able to enjoy his retirement and adoration of his millions of fans.

I was also there in 1967. I was with my parents .I was only 14 but a road race fanatic even then. I'm 70 now but it's a day I will never forget.

@@michaelpaget3177 I was just 9 yrs old and had two heroes. Cassius Clay and Mike Hailwood. They were both the greatest at their chosen sports.
