They all sound great! You're a lucky man to have all the tones they can provide at your fingertips, but in the end they all sounded similar which is a nod to how you like your tone to sound :)
Im amazed at how different everyone perceived this demo.. I thought the VHT had the overall best tone, the boogie I thought maybe edged it out in the lead portion but splitting hairs.. In my mind the JMP came next and the ENGL 530 last on all fronts..
1 VHT GP3 (Still the best even though I think it could've been better with the right settings!) 2 ENGL 530 and JMP-1 (Both equally good, go with JMP-1 if you want that 80s rock tone, e530 for more modern tone) 3 Mesa Formula Pre (I don't know what went wrong here, just sounded dull and woolly)
For my tastes, the Engl was #1: mean, complex, classic studio tone. The VHT wasn't far behind, then the JMP-1, which sounded a bit "hairy" to my ears, but probably great for Maiden tones. The Boogie was a disappointment, with that dull analog speaker sim sound. Thanks for recording and sharing the demos!
interesting observations - i feel like the Boogie just needed some highs pushed on the EQ a little to make it s alittle more exciting. great sounds overall though!
😆It's Dave again a.k.a BUZZ did a second review & yes the jmp-1 is the best then the engl, vht & last the boogie. Just confirming, cheers bro good demo !!!😆
I guess I made the right choice..This is what I have at home and surely I will never change it. JMP-1 beats them all.. Totally agree with Jordan second choice will be VHT..GP3 sounds cool but that drive and tone you can get it easily from a Marshall JCM900 4100's .. stand alone Pre Amps are to take you a little beyond that..
What guitar and pick ups do you use? ENGL sounds like a death-metal band playing classic rock, JMP sounded like JCM on some heavy steroids. Only mesa and VHT sounded more decent. Still lauhged my ass off, thank you.
Glad it’s not another demo with djent or metal core crap riffs. Appreciate it
0:15 engl
1:09 jmp
2:02 mesa
2:58 vht
Another vote for GP3

Prefer the JMP-1, that's why i got one :) but second to that i'd take the VHT.

Marshall fuck up all the other !

JMP1 is best @ rythm part. @Lead is the VHT the best 2. the JMP. The JMP! sounds a little bit as ZZ Top.
