You have the rig that metal legends such as KK Downing, Glenn Tipton, Adrian Smith and Dave Mustaine relied on for touring and recording ! Awesome tones BTW. I have a KK 2203 which is glorious modded Marshall without the price tag of a modded Marshall and I love it to death ! Cheers from Morocco.
Someone is selling a JMP-1 two towns over and I needed to find a video where it's being used for metal. I'm kind of surprised that you have to run a Maxon into it to create this tone. For some reason, I figured it would sound great just running cable direct in and that's it. Thanks for the video, Andrei!
hey man great demo! Do you know whats the difference between the monobloc 9100 and the 9200 in terms of sound and spec? there is a 9100 selling close to me not sure if its worth picking it up
Thanks, I haven't had first hand experience with it but I would expect a bit more depth from the 100w version. Needless to say, the difference would be negligible, especially in the context of a mix or using it in a band
Great demo, I have the exact same model, do you maybe know what kind of tubes you have inside? I have one to the far right of the back row that is not lightening up when turning on.
Unfortunately I sold it a while ago, but I think I still had the original ones in it. I'm not sure about the tube not lighting up tho, perhaps the time has come for a retube in your unit
Hi, nice video... So, running only into channel B allows you to use only one loadspeaker output to enter, for example, in only one input jack cabinet? Thanx
Thanks! Yes, you can use a single channel if you want, doesnt matter if it's A or B, just don't turn on the one that doesn't have a load connected and you should be fine
Which Marshall head would you say sounds closest as far as distortion? I love the sound of this thing, but want to get something similar in a head package.
Hey m8... is it possible to run both sides of the 9100 without having to use two cabs? You know, using one cab? How would you do that? Another question if you don’t mind... how would you use the gear (JMP-1, 9100) with an attenuator, so you don’t blow your apartment’s roof off?
you can use both sides if the cab is stereo, i can do that with my palmer 2x12 for example, it has 2 inputs. As for the attenuator, there's no way to run both channels into 1 attenuator, so you're better off leaving one channel off and only using the other one through the attenuator
@@AndreiGrozea oh sweet, awesome. I heard some stories about marshall’s stereo power amps blow up if you only use one side... do you think it’s true? I’m planning on getting a 9200 and running it with only one side on so I can use an attenuator, but I don’t want to damage the amp.
I have no idea honestly, but since you can independently switch off one side it's probably safe, tho I can't remember if I ever used mine like that so I can't guarantee. I would send Marshall's customer support an email and ask them directly if I were you. Sorry for the late reply, yt doesn't sent notifications for some reason.
Thanks, I swapped the JMP1 with the Tokai Explorer a few months ago with one of Ola's past members because I wasn't using it. Can't remember what I used for the bass, but probably ReaComp + TSE 808 + TSE BOD, didnt have fancy stuff back then
One question, my JMP apparently sends a lot of noise to the guitar pickups, they pick up the hum as I approach the rack. Is it normal for the JMP-1 to make a little transformer noise in the rack chassis itself when it is powered on? Thanks
@Andrei Grozea Dude I've been wondering, because I've got the same power unit - 9100. I wanna switch from a 4x12 to a 2x 12. Do I just leave one channel unplugged and run just a single channel or do I need an attenuator?
Some 212 cabs have two inputs and you can use both channels of the 9100. If not, you can use a single channel, let's say A, but if you don't have anything plugged in channel B do not turn channel B on. I usually run a torpedo captor loadbox on channel A for recording into PC and channel B goes into a palmer 212 cab for monitoring.
@@AndreiGrozea OK cool! So as long as it stays of it'll be fine. When working with only one channel active does the 9100 output 100% or 50% of its power?
@@Famished_ the output doesn't change, 9100 has 50W per channel regardless of the other channel being on or off. Yes, I think everything should be fine if you leave the unplugged channel off.
@@AndreiGrozea It doesn't change so to say but since I'll be using one channel the output will be 50W. That's kinda what I meant ^^ Thank you good sir you made my day

"Can a Marshall do metal" is most likely the most stupid question ever. Since it´s development Marshalls have been doing metal,- all through the 70s, the 80s ( NWHOBM anyone?), the 90s, the 00s, the 10s and now well into the 20s. Everything else is a copy or variation of Marshalls doing metal.
there's quite a bit of a difference between what metal used to sound 40 years ago when Marshall was in their peak to what it means now, but I'm with you.

The JMP-1 has such a nice midrange and topend tone. Think I need one...Lol

When doing his EQ, Andrei was like: "do you hear that 4k?? we will CRUSH that 4k!!" :))
there was something super annoying about the 4k on this particular amp
