I used the speakers emulator of the Marshall JMP-1 straight into my M-Audio Pre MK II. That's about it. I need to get one of these SM-57s. Everybody tells me they are great microphones. Thank you for you comment about my cover of The Prisoner. I'm glad you like it.
How can you be using the speaker emulated outputs? I can see you have a power amp and cab here, and it looks like you recorded the sound coming out of the cab with your camera's microphone?
thank you very much. Yes, the JMP-1 is the key to Dave Murray's tone. It has this very nice smooth tone with a lot of sustain. It's hard to get that tone without a JMP-1.
Thank you :-D ! It's about 550 ms delay and 50% feedback. And the reverb is 90% decay. There are some little changes between patches yes. Especially between Dave's and Adrian smith's tones. Dave uses a longer delay than Adrian.
theironguitars hi. I just got one and try to figure it out where I can go to find patches and also how can I do to put that in my jmp1. Would like to put chorus, reverb and more
So you don't have the JFX-1 in the JMP-1's effects loop? So you connect an output from the JMP-1 into the JFX-1, then an output on the JXF-1 to the 9200?
For the clean tone I use Chorus, Reverb and Delay. For my Rhythmic distortion patch I use a little bit of chorus and reverb. For my lead tone I use Chorus, Reverb and Delay
On the JFX-1 : Chorus, Delay, Reverb mode. Chorus: mode 2 Depth: 88 300€ for the JMP-1 I bought my JFX's only for 150€ each but it is much expensive usually. Like 500€ on Ebay. And about 500€ to 600€ for the 9200.
Yes mate ! Here's the songs. Reincarnation Of Benjamin Breeg Brave New World Dance Of Death Wrathchild 2 Minutes To Midnight Reincarnation Of Benjamin Breeg (Again lol) Powerslave Then I'm just improvising with the style of Dave Murray. I play the solo of Fear Of The Dark and Rime Of The Ancient Mariner. That's about it. Thank you for your comment. I really appreciate.
Ahah why not. What a shame we live so far from each other. Don't worry, I got some friends in Pennsylvania USA which is not so far from Canada. One day, I could come. Thank you mate ! I've seen your Dave Murray Tutorial. It is very good. You got it man !
Hi Mr. Theironguitars! I got a question: did you have some trouble about the 3v battery, inside the JMP-1 ? I got one unit and i'm worry about some rack failure or issue with the main pcb. Your tones are great, btw!!! Mercy beacoup. Cheers from Viamao City - Brazil. 👊😃🎸🇧🇷
Actually it's a "mode" on the JFX-1. There's no speed. The depth is like 99%. But it doesn't work like a pedal. I would say that it's just an ambient chorus. It gives you the sound of a light chorus without waves in the sound. Hope it helps.
Hey man, I'm just getting back into playing again after 10 yrs of not playing. I'm getting my gear back up and would kill to be able to get this sound. Would you mind explaining to me how your using the JFX-1? I saw one of your comments had the setting for chorus. Which channel and the settings for reverb and delay. I've wanted to be able to have the Dave Murray slow lead tone since hearing Killers the first time at 12 yrs old, back in '91. Thanks Man and Love your Vid!
I don't really know. I used to have a Marshall 8008 and now the 9200, I didn't try that much power amps so I can't tell you why it is different than an other one. I can tell you that it is a very powerfull amp. Vintage/Modern switches are cool, you can really hear a big difference. I like to play with the modern switch ON. It gives you a little more that the vintage do not have. Presence controls are also very good. It really change the tone when you turn the nobs. Hope is what you expected. :-)
excellent sounds - What is the JMP-1 volume setting on your Rhythm patches, also wondered if you had the power amp at max volume (if not what setting??). cheers!
Salut!
hey man, amazing tone! i have one question, what is the influence that the Poweramp 9200 has in the sound? i just won a auction of JMP on ebay, and i'm starting to set up my rack. I'm planning to take a G Major for the effects. And I don't know what power amp to decide. Could you give some "tips"? thank you!
You seems to know a lot. I have gotten really close to Dave's tone with my pedalboard (POD HD500) but I still feel something is missing (that Smoothness)... I think it could be that Marshall JMP1, but I'm not sure how it works. If I get one, should I just keep my pedalboard's presets and run them through the M-JMP1 to the amp, or will it be necesary to build new presets? PD: You've done a great job, and have awsome skill. Thanks for tutorial! Keep it up!!!!
Hello First, thank you very much for the answer last time I also need to ask what effects you used and how did you setup Clean (Reincarnation Of Benjamin Breeg, Brave New World, Dance Of Death): There is Reverb and Delay with how many repetitions? In Brave New World seems to be a strange effect of modulation: is a phase??? Rhythmic Distortion (Wrathchild, 2 Minutes To Midnight): No effect, right?
Hi, like the tutorial, good work. What other effect have you put into the lead settings? You say gain 20 bass/mid 6, treb 4 and presence 2 but there sounds like something else is going on to give it that rich sound. I don't have your rig and currently using a BOSS GT8 multi effects pedal. Also, what are the settings out of? Gain 20 out of 100? Thanks again.
thanks a lot How do you set the Chorus? A lot of speed and depth? (for exemple I have a Tc Corona Chorus and I'm trying to understand how to set it to get that sound) =D
+Do you have somesord of recording equipment aswell? I saw some cover of prisoner where you played murray parts. Sounded good, how did you capture the sound from marshalls?
Lead (Reincarnation Of Benjamin Breeg, Powerslave): Delay, how many repetitions? Chorus, how it is set? Reverb? (Phase???) Solo (Fear Of The Dark, Rime Of The Ancient Mariner): Delay? Reverb? Thank you very much
Do you take this out on the road a few times a week .. it is an awesome system .. I have the earlier Marshall 9000 pre amp and Power amp in the model before this stuff where they made them gold.. and the big four twelve speaker cabinet .. but after getting home from playing 2 shows in the last 3 days in two US states . .and have to go work tomorrow and the rest of the week ( typical week for me ) .. it is too much gear to carry around .. but sounds amazing .. I play with the www.screamineagleband.com ... Modern Southern Rock
Hey man... i've got the 9200, but it's sounding strange, like there is a wind storm going on..in both channels (i use just one each time). After turn on, wait some minutes, and turn the standby off, i can play normal for almost 3 minutes, then the "wind storm" starts..then i have to turn on the standby and after like 5 minutes it gets normal.. mas sometimes the noise comes back... do you have any idea what it might be? thanks
Can you tell which is the correct cab that Dave uses? 1960B or BV? I´m looking everywhere, but no one can give me the answer!! I´ll change my 1960A for one 1960B, so I´d like to buy the correct one!
Im this close to buy Fender american stratocaster, anyway, i need hot rails aswell. So if i put hot rails on bridge and neck, whats the middle pickup then?
Is that a 2 x12 marshall cab with vintage 30 's ? If so are u happy with it ? Im thinking of buying one but sometimes get negative responses to it.. Thanks
Bonjour, super vidéo ! Ayant fait l'acquisition de ce même materiel, je ne sais pas comment faire les branchements à l'arrière du Rack entre simplement le Marshall 9200 et le Jmp1, pourriez vous m'aider ? Merci ! up The Irons

dave is the best ever!!

The JFX-1 and the JMP-1 are running through the Marshall 9200 and then to the 1960b cab.
Thank you. Up the Irons !

For my Rhythmic distortion patch I use a little bit of chorus and reverb.
For my lead tone I use Chorus, Reverb and Delay
It's Dave Murray's lead part the before Adrian's solo during the song Powerslave.
OK, in this video I can see clearly the other rack gear you have. Very good tone!
On the JFX-1 : Chorus, Delay, Reverb mode.
Chorus: mode 2
Depth: 88
300€ for the JMP-1
I bought my JFX's only for 150€ each but it is much expensive usually. Like 500€ on Ebay.
And about 500€ to 600€ for the 9200.
you're a dude bro
thank you, and congratulations again for that tone!
That's so epic and crazy that you have most of his live rig in your house lol. It must've cost you a fortune to get all that..
Yes mate ! Here's the songs.
Reincarnation Of Benjamin Breeg
Brave New World
Dance Of Death
Wrathchild
2 Minutes To Midnight
Reincarnation Of Benjamin Breeg (Again lol)
Powerslave
Then I'm just improvising with the style of Dave Murray.
I play the solo of Fear Of The Dark and Rime Of The Ancient Mariner.
That's about it. Thank you for your comment. I really appreciate.
Ahh, okay. I just got my JMP-1 yesterday and the Lexicon MX200 is coming in the mail tomorrow! So I'll finally have more of an Adrian Smith tone!
Ahah why not. What a shame we live so far from each other. Don't worry, I got some friends in Pennsylvania USA which is not so far from Canada. One day, I could come. Thank you mate ! I've seen your Dave Murray Tutorial. It is very good. You got it man !
Wrathchild! 2 minutes to midnight! Awesome tones!
Nice tutorial. Very close to Davey's tone - 90% I'd say :)
You spoke very good English.
You can put a neck Hot Rails for the middle position.
He uses Celestions Vintage 30s inside of his Marshalls. So I guess you're good if you take the 1960 BV.
I made that board by myself. Just a piece of plywood, some spray paint, duct tape. That's about it. Thank you for your comment ! Up the Irons !
Hi man, can you share the settings for the effects (delay, reverb and chorus) and also the settings for the marshall's jmp1 effect knob?
I'm using a Marshall JFX-1. It's a multi effect Dave Murray used since the 90's to 2008.
I'm glad you like it. I think I'll do another one. Now I have better stuff to record with.
Thanks mate ! I'm gland you enjoyed the video. :-)
that sounds pretty damn good brother
It's a 4x12" with 4 Celestion G12 T75. I so much love it !
Actually it's a "mode" on the JFX-1. There's no speed. The depth is like 99%. But it doesn't work like a pedal. I would say that it's just an ambient chorus. It gives you the sound of a light chorus without waves in the sound. Hope it helps.
As Borat would say "VERY NICE"
It's a DW drums stickers which I reversed the W to make a M. I've found it on Ebay for a cheap price from a Canadian company.
Thanks for the quick reply and the tutorial!
Powerslave solo was so cool :)
Yeah it would be great if I could actually afford this set up
Hey man, I'm just getting back into playing again after 10 yrs of not playing. I'm getting my gear back up and would kill to be able to get this sound. Iron Maiden : Wratchild
Really, really enjoyed this!
Aahhhhhhh nailed it!!!!!
Great work, can you share the JFX1 settings?
thanks a lot for this fantastic tutorial!
You're welcome.
Nice tone my friend. I get a good maiden tone with a JVM marshall and a few pedals. I just doesn't have your stereo delay. Need to get stereo delay .
Awesome video man!

I finally tracked down a jfx!!! so happy with it. can you share your presets for this demo?

Je joue avec un volume de chambre. Merci pour ton commentaire :-D
hey man, amazing tone! i have one question, what is the influence that the Poweramp 9200 has in the sound? i just won a auction of JMP on ebay, and i'm starting to set up my rack. Sounds Awesome ❤✅
Your welcome man!
This song is called Reincarnation Of Benjamin Breeg :-D
I'd like to play on that rig.
Amazing sound. Sorry if this was asked but what kinda tube set up are you running in your 9200? Thanks
Your tone is perfect, what is the delay and reverb settings? and are you using the same delay, chorus and reverb settings all time?

Hello what was your settings for the line 6?
Hello
First, thank you very much for the answer last time
I also need to ask what effects you used and how did you setup
Clean (Reincarnation Of Benjamin Breeg, Brave New World, Dance Of Death):
There is Reverb and Delay with how many repetitions? In Brave New World seems to be a strange effect of modulation: is a phase???
Rhythmic Distortion (Wrathchild, 2 Minutes To Midnight):
No effect, right?
So good!
super son !

Hi! Very nice sound! Can you be so kind and share JFX-1 settings as well? Merci beaucoup!!! ;)
Thank you so much mate !
+Do you have somesord of recording equipment aswell? I saw some cover of prisoner where you played murray parts. Sounded good, how did you capture the sound from marshalls?
Sounds great!!!
What tubes do you have in the JMP and the 9200?
excellent! doy know what murray use in the first solo of where eagles dare?
Nice rig
Perfect!
Hello nice sound!! What pedal board are you using?
Lead (Reincarnation Of Benjamin Breeg, Powerslave):
Delay, how many repetitions? Chorus, how it is set? Reverb? (Phase???)
Solo (Fear Of The Dark, Rime Of The Ancient Mariner):
Delay? Reverb?
Thank you very much
The JMP-1 doesn't have any effects. Only 2 Types of clean sounds and 2 types of Overdrive sounds.
