I think whenever I enjoy reaction videos it's either of the "informative type", or it's occasionally the "performative type" whenever it feels honest enough to make me relive my own happiness when I first listened to a specific music. I tend to prefer the informative/review/context type ones.

I watch more reaction videos than I believe is healthy and I can only talk about personal reasons.
I have two reasons to watch reaction videos and it's two completely different types of reactors, the first reason is a song I love and I want to relive the first time I heard that song through somebody else. This I seek out through the song and I will watch whatever reactor reacts to it..... a few of the reactors I like from this category and I will watch other reactions they have made.... also to reexperience a song I love for the first time through others is for some reason extremely effective and brings back all the feels.
The second category is reactors that know what they talk about and / or have a good ide of the industry, I watch those reactors both for more information about bands I like and to hear something new within the genre that might give me a new band to add my playlist.
I however do not understand the star status some reactors get.... but that's just me I guess, I don't understand fame no matter what a person does, don't see a lead singer of a band as any more interesting than a construction worker and would go out of my way to accommodate both of them equally (or not at all might be a better wording)

Yeah this is pretty much what I found through my research and resonated with me as well. I actually don't watch the emotional/"reexperience" type so much but I can see why people love it. It's so nice to see other people discover what you love.
And learning new stuff is always good, especially in a field you're interested in.
Being starstruck is a very odd phenomenon I feel - I get why it happens and I'm not immune to it for sure, but it's worrying that people are out on a pedestal as much as they are (and always have been really, this isn't new). I took this iut of my scrupt because it's really its own topic but especially emotion-focused reaction videos are very good at creating parasocial relationships. Viewers learn a lot about a person without truly knowing them and it's easy to project an ideal image onto them.
