Straw man after straw man dismantled. So proud of you guys :D I also don't understand the interject things onto concepts such as skepticism and atheism. Where does that come from besides creating a strawman!? So he's pointing to certain individuals that call themselves skeptics while also holding this other values and that makes them interchangeable? Huh? Imagine me saying a core value of theism is terrorism because some theists have done terror.. It's absurd!
People who believe in the supernatural but are still skeptics: How about anyone who is a theist but won't be vaccinated because they're skeptical about the COVID Vaccine?
It’s not skepticism to be presented with irrefutable proof for a proposition and remain unconvinced… that’s called denial and/or self deception. The caller was right about one thing: you cannot be a theist and also be a skeptic. You can be a theist and *call yourself* a skeptic, but true skepticism follows reasonably conclusive evidence and in the absence of that for any claim, a skeptic will withhold belief. The core tenet of most religion, meanwhile, is belief in the absence of evidence… so skepticism and religious belief are quite clearly mutually exclusive.
😂 imagine saying that you have THE answer to the universe and simultaneously wanna hold a point that THEY FOUND THE ANSWER and that we can’t find the answer... WHAT? 😆 😂 😝
These call ins are interesting... As they clearly show just how ignorant, blinkered, polarised, trapped or confused people are and can be... Especially once indoctrinated. As they often have a fixed and narrow position and often lose the capacity to listen, think, rationalise or respond openly...and end up deflecting, clutching at and throwing in all sorts of abstracts or worse get personal.... Which unfortunately show's that their position is pretty weak...even to themselves.
How the fuck is his mind knitted? I give him that he seems to be young and, I guess, is mislead by a awful environment he still grows up. He laughs when hunted down, that's a sign he can't cope with what was said because he admits the hosts are right and he's wrong. A typical affective reaction. It was literally fun to listen to you guys handling him, or rather destroying his bs views on scepticism. Well done!
Wow, you guys rock! This is but the second SG I’ve watched but bravo, you calmly handled that guy who was clearly trying to get a rise out of you but you won’t play his game. Subscribing for sure and can’t wait to check out more.
It's really not that hard, Chad/Brian. You can believe in a soul that exist after we die without believing in any deity. That the reason many are lost after death is precisely because there's no god. (I don't believe in a soul, for the record). Or atheist who believe we've been visited by alien life when the best evidence is always a pic of a dot. So it isn't always about anything supernatural or "spiritual." Every single time I've heard the phrase "I used to be an atheist" I think "maybe, but you were never a skeptic." Because even then they were anti-vaxxers, climate deniers or believed in countless unfounded conspiracies. Skepticism is simply having your beliefs match onto reality to the best of your ability. It has nothing to do with doubt. It should be anchored with a high standard of evidence and the lack of skepticism is the most dire crisis facing our species. Because how the hell can we solve any of the world's greatest problems when 40% of us don't even believe they exist?
@@jameskelly3745 do you really think they are the same thing? Because I guarantee you that you have some skepticism in you...even if you're a full blown theist. Unless you simply believe Everything you hear.
@@jameskelly3745 about the same, similar .... so you know in your heart they are not the same. Also why is your account one month old? Are you the same as the trolls and Poes that lie and harass on these channels?
Chad said that instead of using skepticism to validate any claim, he "discusses it". Hey, Chad. Discussing involves give and take, asking and answering, even if you ask someone, "Do you agree with the claim?" If someone is NOT skeptical, there is no discussion, only gullible blind acceptance.
Eric: Rome? Rome. Rome? Rome. Rome? ... Not Greece. Narrator: Little did Eric know that it was indeed... Greece. Eric would be so at home on the set of a sitcom
Eric has come a long way IMO. I used to struggle through, but I'm really appreciating his methods and style now. Also, this guy reminds me of a flat earther, Red Pill Philosophy, who keeps saying skeptic over and over again and doesn't have the first clue what it means.
Also this guy resembles a flat earther in that when you ask one a question they divert, start talking about something else, then get mad and start behaving like a 4 year old
I cant stand Red pill philosophy. She hasn't got a clue what she's even talking about and when she says "scientism" as if it's a religion really does my heading.
This happens a LOT with theists. They either misunderstand or try to use words or ideas in a specific way, usually in a muddy or weasely way, that doesn't comport with either reality or the way you have used it in the context of the conversation. Then you have to spend so much time correcting their use or idea that you never really have a conversation about anything substantive. It is frustrating.
The big issue is the misunderstanding of definitions. I dont want to be misrepresented and I dont want to misrepresent my fellow human. This conversation has been "us vs. them" for too long.
Im in South Africa and have been watching all the atheist shows for year. I know you know Tracy Harris and could you please ask her to be a guess on you guys show, she also handles people so so well. she will suit your show , she is wonderful . please
So a number of things indicated to me immediately that he was a troll: 1. Name: Chad (let's face it, it's not a real name anymore. Chad exists solely for memes). 2. Pronouns: He/They (the joke is that he's a "they" because he will never be "Him") 3. 6:45 "Well I understand that *ma'am*"
You guys need/should record names numbers and the voices of your troll callers and give them to your call screeners so they can better identify these peoples.
I think they do, but let them in for entertainment purposes or to defeat their arguments again and again. As a viewer, we just see bad ideas/beliefs deconstructed. New viewers hear why that idea is incorrect. And the caller exposes themselves as fool and/or dishonest.
This call is a representation of the struggle skeptics have in their attempts to understand a theist point of view. While trying to figure it all out, theists take it as a challenge and attack the skeptics. Guys like Chad are just making things worse, deciding to "attack" by proving how ignorant he is... and then being proud of it.
A lot of us skeptics are already quite familiar with the theist point of view. The struggle is keeping the theists on track to make any valid arguments.
Wow, this was gold!!! This guy could cry a goblet of sweet, sweet snowflake tears for me to sip durring a bubble bath. Well done, staying calm and in control.

I’m loving how you two take calls!
I found out about you guys today and with every video I love you more and more!
And this disscusion show how much respect you have for other people and how it is possible to have a nice conversation without screaming on callers! 😱
And Eric, your voice is just so soothing and nice ❤️
Straw man after straw man dismantled. So proud of you guys :D
I also don't understand the interject things onto concepts such as skepticism and atheism.
Where does that come from besides creating a strawman!?
So he's pointing to certain individuals that call themselves skeptics while also holding this other values and that makes them interchangeable? Huh?
Imagine me saying a core value of theism is terrorism because some theists have done terror.. It's absurd!
Gaslighting attempt by an incompetent😊
Sad Chad got so mad. 🤡
... when he mentioned his dad.
...with the doubts that he had
^--- I read this thread; I was glad.
I really love your show. sometimes i don't know how you keep so composed. Good job great show!
In what reality did we fight in Vietnam for the freedom and values of our country? Also, we lost that one.
People who bang on about "traditional family values" usually don't have families which I'd like to be part of.
😂 imagine saying that you have THE answer to the universe and simultaneously wanna hold a point that THEY FOUND THE ANSWER and that we can’t find the answer...
WHAT? 😆 😂 😝
“Confusing the map for the place” is a beautiful analogy
These call ins are interesting... As they clearly show just how ignorant, blinkered, polarised, trapped or confused people are and can be... Especially once indoctrinated.
As they often have a fixed and narrow position and often lose the capacity to listen, think, rationalise or respond openly...and end up deflecting, clutching at and throwing in all sorts of abstracts or worse get personal.... Which unfortunately show's that their position is pretty weak...even to themselves.
it also demonstrates how useless discussion or attempts at education are with this kind of people which is incredibly frustrating and disheartening
Well done!
Vi, I know why Eric Loves You. That Honey was beautiful. You guys are an awesome team. Pity the caller wasn't as nice or credulous.
"If the brain were so simple we could understand it, we would be so simple that we couldn't."
This guy is struggling with much more than being frustrated with skeptics.
A Chad by any other name, sounds as foolish. Truly pathetic. Well done, Vi and Eric! 💙💙💙
If I say I believe in ghosts, it doesn't automatically mean I believe in magic.
I know that sharks exist, therefore I believe in mermaids.
@@jaycobbina9529 silly but CLEARLY you believe in sharknadoes, j/k
Wow, you guys rock! This is but the second SG I’ve watched but bravo, you calmly handled that guy who was clearly trying to get a rise out of you but you won’t play his game. Subscribing for sure and can’t wait to check out more.
It's really not that hard, Chad/Brian. You can believe in a soul that exist after we die without believing in any deity. That the reason many are lost after death is precisely because there's no god. (I don't believe in a soul, for the record). Or atheist who believe we've been visited by alien life when the best evidence is always a pic of a dot. So it isn't always about anything supernatural or "spiritual."
Every single time I've heard the phrase "I used to be an atheist" I think "maybe, but you were never a skeptic." Because even then they were anti-vaxxers, climate deniers or believed in countless unfounded conspiracies.
This!
I’m afraid 40% may be quite low, though - hope I’m wrong
The way y'all handled this was extraordinarily good.
Seems like he is confusing atheism and skepticism lol.
@@jameskelly3745 an atheist doesn't believe in god and skepticism is witholding belief without sufficient evidence. Two different things.
@@moikkis65 I dont see how someone can think they are the same thing.
@@jameskelly3745 what is your definition of a skeptic? Please don't say atheist. I'm really wondering.
"Ma'am?" Did he just say ma'am? LOL!
I agree regarding Eric - I still kind of feel like I’m listening to a therapist, though :)
The laugh at the end was a good example of how insane religious people can be
Chad sounds a LOT like Luke from AZ, pushing so-called "perfect" knowledge as a requirement for reason. NOPE.
'I'm mad because I'm mad. I'm gonna kick over your sandcastle cuz it is better than mine. Whaaaa!'
The ending is sooo typical.
So good. Just massively impressed with Eric. And Vi. .
"I'm skeptical of skepticism." "How can you be skeptical if you believe in the supernatural?" Whoooooooooooosh!!!!
Chad..your dad must be proud of you.😂😂
"That boy ain't right." -Hank Hill
His dad probably now regrets not dying in Vietnam since that would have prevented Chad’s birth.
"My daddy" 😂 absolutely hilarious.
The caller was aptly named.
The big issue is the misunderstanding of definitions. I dont want to be misrepresented and I dont want to misrepresent my fellow human. This conversation has been "us vs. them" for too long.
Chad "we have flawed brains"
Everyone " speak for yourself"
If science is wrong then stop using technologies.
Hostility, Arrogance, ignorance. The Christian trifecta.
Oh FFS. At the beginning I was just going to say he's confused at what skepticism is. Turns out, he's just a troll. His god must be proud.
5 minutes in and Chad has already convinced me that he's not interested in seeking any element of truth.
Im in South Africa and have been watching all the atheist shows for year. I know you know Tracy Harris and could you please ask her to be a guess on you guys show, she also handles people so so well. she will suit your show , she is wonderful . please
So a number of things indicated to me immediately that he was a troll:
1. Name: Chad (let's face it, it's not a real name anymore. Chad exists solely for memes).
2. Pronouns: He/They (the joke is that he's a "they" because he will never be "Him")
3. 6:45 "Well I understand that *ma'am*"
You guys need/should record names numbers and the voices of your troll callers and give them to your call screeners so they can better identify these peoples.
Nope let them back on every time. Make it clear that this is the last line of defence against clear rational thinking.
I think they do, but let them in for entertainment purposes or to defeat their arguments again and again.
As a viewer, we just see bad ideas/beliefs deconstructed. New viewers hear why that idea is incorrect. And the caller exposes themselves as fool and/or dishonest.
@@wordnoise4741 I mean if I can pay money to see that happen again. I got 5 bucks.
If you can't play Mozart, you can't know what a piano is... perfectly rational, 🤣
Are you not skeptical about other religions or off-shoot Christian groups that try to influence your beliefs, right?
Exactly
OMG that laugh at the end...
That's a "please put me in a mental hospital"-laugh if I ever heard one :D
This call is a representation of the struggle skeptics have in their attempts to understand a theist point of view. While trying to figure it all out, theists take it as a challenge and attack the skeptics. Guys like Chad are just making things worse, deciding to "attack" by proving how ignorant he is... and then being proud of it.
A lot of us skeptics are already quite familiar with the theist point of view. The struggle is keeping the theists on track to make any valid arguments.
Chad is engaging in epistemic dis-integration from the position of "knowing skepticism", which itself is a contradiction in terms.
I’m going to play a recording of that last laugh at the haunted house in the insane asylum room on a loop
Chad suffers from self induced ignorance that prevents him from digging into his flawed belief system.
Wow, this was gold!!! This guy could cry a goblet of sweet, sweet snowflake tears for me to sip durring a bubble bath. Well done, staying calm and in control.
This guy couldn’t have been more of a Chad if he tried.
He's also Floridaman. But I think the Chad is more prominent.
@@brucebaker810 except when the Chad is hanging
Religion has broken Chadwick! There is hope for Chadwick, but only if he loses his religion!
