I order the Boom plus because it finally has an aux input. Indeed, DJs need it! These speakers are great for hosting a small party. The boombox 3 seems to fix the clarity problems of the boombox 2 but at 550 euro I can buy almost 2 200 watt portable dj speakers (Mackie Thumb Go). It would be great to make a comparison with the Mackie for that reason.
Considering the price difference it is truly impressive how a pair of motion booms compare to the boombox 2 (even if they can't achieve the deepest bass of the boombox). I, like many others, have great expectations for the boom plus. Although I could order it at a discounted price now I'd rather wait for your review and opinion before buying it. Well you finally did it🥳 I still watched your video from beginning to the end.The Boombox 2 still is a beast but its usable indoors. It's good to know I was pretty damn accurate explaining everything😅. Also I wanted to mention 2 things. I have the ND- HK version since the last 2 letters actually matter on this one and the dips are there. And if you want the Boombox 2 to float drivers up. You have to rotate the handle a under water a couple time then it will stay upwards. Lastly what did you think about the Sony SRS-XG500 compaired to these speakers🤔
i dont have letters at the end of my boombox 😂 interesting you have the dips too, the frequency response measurements i could find didnt show them. how on earth did you discover that to make it float up you have to mess with the handle?? i havent really taken much time to listen to the sony vs the boombox as i heard too many negatives about it so my interest inst there, i know you say you can fiddle with eq and get it to sound great i think?
Wait you doint have 2 sets of letters on your Boombox? The letters aren't at the very end but after the - you should see it. As far as the handle I just tried it out for myself took a couple of times but it will stay put for sure😁 and alongcwith the stock eq a 3rd party eq called poweramp for Sony. You do get some pumping but it really helps the Sony and not other speakers along with Dolby atmos but only Oneplus people can use it
As far as the scientific stuff you're the last and only TH-camr since oluv gave up for the most part. But so far it looks like your video is doing very well😁. By reviewing theses box speakers I'm hoping to get my channel off the ground. I wonder who will compare the Motion Boom plus against the Boombox 2,3 and Motion Booms first😁😎👀
That's a big bluetooth speaker! You can get some audiophile grade speakers for the same price but most people who watch your channel don't care about that, they just want BASS!

Happy you got a nicer impression that you were expecting, I've never noticed this ''waving'' on my unit, I would like to try but I don't have the equipment. I suggest you to try the partybox 100/110 and 310 too; they sound really good and are totally usable indoors, I use 2×1000 in stereo and sound amazing; the biggest issue is the neighbourhood lol
@@domepugliese It's far from terrible, just wanted to mention it, something to keep in mind before buying ! To me Partybox On the Go have the best highs from all the Partybox I heard (100, OtG, 710). Even though they're still not perfect

Yeaaah! I definitely wait for a review on the Motion Boom Plus. I listened to a Boombox 2 at a small party and was impressed on how full it sounded compared with my friend's Motion+. Obviously not a fair comparison, but I liked the volume on that. I hope the Boom Plus will be close to or even better than Boombox at 1/3 on its price :)
You need to test oluv's upcoming earfun speaker that he's tuning. Would be interesting to see if he can manage to tune a loud balanced sound with that small form factor. I hope we will not loose bass after 80% volume ... he said that speaker will outperform all other speaker in that category of size ... OMG ... Are you interested ...?
Thanks for professional test. For price of 1xTribit we can buy 2xmotionBoom. A pair of this small but incredible speakers already won comparission with more powerfull 1xBoom+. The soundcore boost is not the clearest speaker but okay, but the boombox has just bass and some treble. Im happy that i got the partybox 310 instead. Way better sound. The Party with the partybox310 starts where it ends with the boombox
After opening my bb2 and attempting to update the firmware I noticed it is a nt version and came with the latest firmware. At $299 I’m very impressed with it.

@@alanrossreviews The motion booms sound the loudest, the JBL Boombox has the most bass, and the xtreme 3 paired with the JBL Boombox nicely complements the mids
I do like the sound from JBL, but those mid-range frequencies are all over the place, plus you can get two motion booms for less than half the price of the JBL, it's a no brainer really!
From 1 to 10 what’s your enthusiasm for the Motion Boom Plus? Judging by SoundCore’s track record it’s going to be an 8 for me. The Tribit StormBox Blast, on the other hand, is a 3 😒 Can’t wait for the smack down drag out between these 3 speakers, even though my money’s on Soundcore. Stan, much? 😝
The Motion Boom Plus may be twice the price of the Motion Boom but its also a third the price of JBL, Sony and UE. If the MBP can equal or wipe the floor with any of those speakers then it’s most definitely worth it’s price imho

Can you did the boombox 2 updated? Fimware 0.4.4 is the latest firmware version for boombox 2, also the boombox 3 is right around the corner, now it's using 3 way setup which consists of the racetrack subwoofer 2 midrange main Woofers 2 tweeters :D
JBL boombox 3 if it's released, there's obviously some issues with the sound, like about the boombox 2 with it's limiting issue. But it get rid all of that issues, buy sending a firmware update. So if you don't update your speaker. You experiencing some serious issues with your sound quality and bass.
The boombox 2 is only 60/80 watts 30/40w for tweeters and 30/40watts for the woofers, the xtreme 3 is 50 watts, 25w for tweeters and 25w for the woofers They cant have more power than the powerbrick can output, powerbrick for boombox 2 are 100,8 watts and for xtreme 3 are 60watts, (a bit more than the speaker is outputting so it can charge while playing at 100%)
yes jbl have really f*(ked us over with the specs on the xtreme 3, boombox 2 and hk go+ play. however if they had said peak or something other than rms they could have a defence. its really getting out of hand the way they are playing with watts in the specs.
How do you explain Onyx Studios then ? 38W powerbrick for a 50W speaker. Truth is, Boombox 2 only draws around 45W of power from the wall, and around 30W for Xtreme 3
I don't like the sound at all but bass response is really impressive but it's not really loud and that lower puch will be a bit lost outdoors... Vifa Olso would sound much better for the price and will play nearly as loud xD but without this deep bass. Great and colorful video!
@@alanrossreviews I would even say the best sound in this size, minirigs would maby play as loud but at "normal" volume, Olso is simply way more precise. But battery is not that good, app is trash although Oslo doesn't need it imo...

Hey there Alan and thanks for all the technical information on the sound quality of all these speakers. Is it possible to use these speakers such as the Soundcore motion plus, or Sony SRS-xb32 while avoiding the apps, but just using the hard wired AUX input straight to your cell phone and playing music that way? I would prefer not to use those apps and so forth. I just want to use my smartphone straight to the AUX input and play music with no app gymnastics if that's possible. Thanks in advance buddy.

Did you ever try to jbl connect and jbl party boost un a single cp by using a bluetoot only and it work in a time using# media# it will be come out 2 way it can be all connect all connect+ to driver connect and all party boost to party boost driver? In other way if you have 2 rooms 1 room all connect colection and other room is all party boost.. But it will work using one single unit cellphone or tablet.....

My opinion Alan is the boombox 1 and 2 are most over rated speakers made . Had the extreme 3 and took it back to target the same day I bought it. The boombox 2 even on sale for 349 to 399 is just not worth it. After 2 days with it and I paid 399 at Walmart for it but I just wasn't impressed. Took it back. I'd easily take a wking t9 over it for sound. Now as I'm not a fan of these lines from jbl I will say their partybox 110 is the best bt speaker I've ever heard and owned. This thing is an absolute beast. It's like it's from another planet vs all the boombox 2 and every speaker made from w king and soundcore including their rave+ which spec wise is very similar to the 110. The bass is unreal but what has really surprised me is the mids and highs or how the instruments and vocals shine. Also when plugged in it has a tad more oomph but unplugged it is hardly noticeable as to where the extreme 3 was very noticeable to my ears as just not the same power bein delivered. Wish they had eq options for 110 in jbl app but again extreme and boombox = 🗑. Partybox 110 = 🔥!!!! Needless to say I'm signed up for motion boom + and if it is as good as I expect it to be will order a 2nd for tws. I cam grab the 110 but def do miss the probability of my w king x10 and d10 but sold d10 for upcoming boom+

I really had hoped they would have removed the damn gross handle on the MBPlus, especially since there would already be a damn strap. That's all that's needed. That solid handle has always looked ugly but now it just serves no/tiny purpose, so why tf keep the nasty thing lol

@@MrHomieOne Ever since Xtreme 3 released, they doubled the rated watts for most of their speakers. Even Xtreme 2. JBL always said it was 40W bi-amp, until Xtreme 3 came out. Now it's 80W. My guess is that they are now showing driver power and not amplification power.
@@ThibautMahringer Jbl Xtreme 2 has 40 watt rms and Xtreme 50 watt rms, you can't double the power with the same battery and get the same 15 hours of lifetime. Your driver power is only 80 watt, if your amp has 80 Watt too.
i have a question, do you think a pair of Mifa wildbox in stereo would own their own against a boombox 2? because I have it and I would like to get something a bit more portable, I was looking at the Xtreme 3 so that I could also connect them with partyboost, but here in Italy it costs €230 and for €25 cheaper I could get 2× Mifa wildbox which are definitely better than one Xtreme 3; but then I could no longer connect them with the BB2... maybe I should just wait for the Boombox 3 as I've read it's about the same size but is 700g lighter... but €500...🥲

Awesome review. The sound of the Boombox 2 caught me off guard. The bass not being too overblown is a surprise.
yup from what i heard from others i expected a bigger more overblown bass to be honest.
Unfortunately it sounds like some AC sound, not real 45 hz bass. More like some artefact. But yeah

I would not recommend the 100 personally, highs are completely off on it

I do like the sound from JBL, but those mid-range frequencies are all over the place, plus you can get two motion booms for less than half the price of the JBL, it's a no brainer really!

The Motion Boom Plus may be twice the price of the Motion Boom but its also a third the price of JBL, Sony and UE.
If the MBP can equal or wipe the floor with any of those speakers then it’s most definitely worth it’s price imho

Can you did the boombox 2 updated? Fimware 0.4.4 is the latest firmware version for boombox 2, also the boombox 3 is right around the corner, now it's using 3 way setup which consists of the racetrack subwoofer 2 midrange main Woofers 2 tweeters :D

JBL boombox 3 if it's released, there's obviously some issues with the sound, like about the boombox 2 with it's limiting issue. But it get rid all of that issues, buy sending a firmware update. So if you don't update your speaker. You experiencing some serious issues with your sound quality and bass.
i compared the motion boom to jbl boombox 1.. I'd get boombox 1 for 200-250 over two motion booms ..

I have a Brookstone big blue party speaker that just died on me. Which of the 3 you reviewed would be comparable to it?
The boombox 2 is only 60/80 watts 30/40w for tweeters and 30/40watts for the woofers, the xtreme 3 is 50 watts, 25w for tweeters and 25w for the woofers
They cant have more power than the powerbrick can output, powerbrick for boombox 2 are 100,8 watts and for xtreme 3 are 60watts, (a bit more than the speaker is outputting so it can charge while playing at 100%)
yes jbl have really f*(ked us over with the specs on the xtreme 3, boombox 2 and hk go+ play. however if they had said peak or something other than rms they could have a defence. its really getting out of hand the way they are playing with watts in the specs.
How do you explain Onyx Studios then ? 38W powerbrick for a 50W speaker.
Truth is, Boombox 2 only draws around 45W of power from the wall, and around 30W for Xtreme 3

have you seen the JBL Encore Essential? it goes REALLY low and can beat nearly every other deep bass speakers like Boombox and HK Onyx

I don't like the sound at all but bass response is really impressive but it's not really loud and that lower puch will be a bit lost outdoors...
Vifa Olso would sound much better for the price and will play nearly as loud xD but without this deep bass.

But also look at it differently, try to find a stereo system or soundbar or any type of speaker for 500$ which sounds more linear and precise than the Oslo...

Hey there Alan and thanks for all the technical information on the sound quality of all these speakers. Is it possible to use these speakers such as the Soundcore motion plus, or Sony SRS-xb32 while avoiding the apps, but just using the hard wired AUX input straight to your cell phone and playing music that way? I would prefer not to use those apps and so forth. I just want to use my smartphone straight to the AUX input and play music with no app gymnastics if that's possible. Thanks in advance buddy.

My opinion Alan is the boombox 1 and 2 are most over rated speakers made . Had the extreme 3 and took it back to target the same day I bought it. The boombox 2 even on sale for 349 to 399 is just not worth it. After 2 days with it and I paid 399 at Walmart for it but I just wasn't impressed. Took it back. I'd easily take a wking t9 over it for sound. Now as I'm not a fan of these lines from jbl I will say their partybox 110 is the best bt speaker I've ever heard and owned. This thing is an absolute beast. It's like it's from another planet vs all the boombox 2 and every speaker made from w king and soundcore including their rave+ which spec wise is very similar to the 110. The bass is unreal but what has really surprised me is the mids and highs or how the instruments and vocals shine. Also when plugged in it has a tad more oomph but unplugged it is hardly noticeable as to where the extreme 3 was very noticeable to my ears as just not the same power bein delivered. Wish they had eq options for 110 in jbl app but again extreme and boombox = 🗑. Partybox 110 = 🔥!!!! Needless to say I'm signed up for motion boom + and if it is as good as I expect it to be will order a 2nd for tws. I cam grab the 110 but def do miss the probability of my w king x10 and d10 but sold d10 for upcoming boom+
It aint cheap thats for sure 😁 if the xtreme 3 is 280 id say 350 was a decent price. Its not for delicate listening thats for sure.

The Jbl Datasheets are realy confusing, but the Boombox 2 has 60 watts on battery and 80 on ac, the Jbl Xtreme 3 has 50 Watts on ac.

@@MrHomieOne Ever since Xtreme 3 released, they doubled the rated watts for most of their speakers. Even Xtreme 2. JBL always said it was 40W bi-amp, until Xtreme 3 came out. Now it's 80W.
My guess is that they are now showing driver power and not amplification power.
@@ThibautMahringer Jbl Xtreme 2 has 40 watt rms and Xtreme 50 watt rms, you can't double the power with the same battery and get the same 15 hours of lifetime.
Your driver power is only 80 watt, if your amp has 80 Watt too.

i have a question, do you think a pair of Mifa wildbox in stereo would own their own against a boombox 2?
because I have it and I would like to get something a bit more portable, I was looking at the Xtreme 3 so that I could also connect them with partyboost, but here in Italy it costs €230 and for €25 cheaper I could get 2× Mifa wildbox which are definitely better than one Xtreme 3; but then I could no longer connect them with the BB2...
maybe I should just wait for the Boombox 3 as I've read it's about the same size but is 700g lighter... but €500...🥲
