Yeah whole point of having a boombox to play outside not with wifi at home. For me personally I have a Bose sound system at home for wifi multi room play and Dolby atmos so I won’t use a boom box wifi for that purpose . Also I like to dj sometime so it’s nice to have an option to take my controller and boombox and connect it via aux line and play outside which is not possible anymore on the wifi version.

I get it that Wi-Fi version is slightly better but I've never seen it on sale ever. While I got the brand new BT version for equivalent of $250 here in Europe, tax included.
So I went with buying two of them instead of getting just one Wi-Fi version that was almost $600 lol. In that sense Wi-Fi version is just a tough sell, totally not worth it.

I’ll keep my Bluetooth only boombox 3. I have a literal Sonos movie theater system which plays music and movies beautifully. Plus I play music from TH-cam and the type of music I listen to is really rare to come across in lossless audio. There’s only like 3 songs I like that where in lossless but I only listened to them when I had Apple Music because TH-cam isn’t capable of streaming lossless audio music.

Yeah JBL just dipping their toes into wifi, they need something more balanced than the bb3 to really make it work i think

@@alanrossreviews same, there’s definitely an improvement in this new WiFi model but coming from someone who already owns the Bluetooth boombox 3 I don’t think it’s worth dropping $700 if you already own the BT one. But if you don’t have either then I would recommend getting the WiFi one or the BT only bb3 if you can find a great deal on it.

I highly appreciate that you mean it to JBL BOOMBOX3. However, the biggest difference between portable Bluetooth speakers and Wi-Fi speakers is that Wi-Fi signals with large transmission data consume a lot of power. In particular, low-power wireless Bluetooth signals are a must-have option for battery-mounted portable models. To use the JBL BOOMBOX3 Wi-Fi, you must plug it in and use the DC power plug. This is because when using Wi-Fi as a battery mode, battery usage time is significantly reduced compared to when using Bluetooth. This is because power consumption is high. And I think it's a better choice for the Dolby Atmos-enabled Wi-Fi speaker to buy the JBL Authentic 500 and use it indoors as a regular fixture, and just use it if there is an existing Boom Box 3. Have a nice day.

If you want standard Boombox 3 with partyboost protocol, but the tunning is somehow from Wifi edition with abit more refined mids, then you can make another Boombox model and add (+) to it's name(Boombox 3+ or Pro) Phase Out the Standard Boombox 3, and here you go, the King was born.(i forgot to mention The midrange woofers shall make it Racetrack Mid woofers looks like charge 4 woofer, add dual downward firing passive radiators to sides or back connected to the own chamber of racetrack mid woofers and instead of exposed soft dome tweeter, what about make it looks like compression driver with some short horn in it and waveguides (not exposing the tweeters anymore)

I agree with this review. Having both speakers side by side it is hard to decide. First, the difference in sound is small. I feel that the Wi-Fi version is slightly rich in mids and high compared to the Bluetooth version. second, the software is completely different in both. Wi-Fi version software is more dynamic and focuses more on streaming services and Chromecast audio. EQ here is better. The only side-down I see on the Wi-Fi version when is working with Bluetooth the JBL One app is useless.

Jbl had a brain fart. No aux? . Do you know how many usb c dongles there are? Just connect phone via dongle to speaker via aux for lossless playback.
Plus i use apple music lossless. Not tidal
The problem with taking away the aux input is us not being able to connect certain tvs, projectors, etc to the jbl speakers. This forces us to use Bluetooth transmitters (which reduces sound quality and creates lag for movies).

(im using tidal) I just bought some bluetooth dongle for my pc and i can hear some difference vs playing from mobile i think that sound is more defined but it can do bt version bcs my phone is using i think 5.0 and that dongle 5.3. on both pc and mobile i have tidal and i can clearly say spotify with youtube just dont have that quality even if you play tidal on bluetooth you can spot difference between tidal and spotify. but very nice review ,but another but in czech republic i bought bt edition for 13k cz crowns (529 e) normally 14k (570 e) now that version costs 10k (400 e) XD and wifi version costs 15,500 czk (620 e) its just so much overpriced if im right and can i get same quality on bt with aux joined to my pc and controling tidal with my phone (from custom plugin).

in theory yes you can play aux as though it was wifi in terms of quality but i havent tested this and often aux sounds different either because there is no processing on the aux or because there is too much processing. it really depends on how its implemented.
