Starwars is an actually money printer anyway, u have to purposely go out of ur way, to screw it up!

@@bassage13 star wars hotel would have been the easiest too. Either build or refurbish two of the tram cars to be shuttles. Have a stop built into the Star Wars park and have those Shuttles be the main transport to the hotel and have the hotel designed around some of the older resorts where the Tram Shuttle disembarks inside the hotel. You can even design the hotel to look much better than what the Galactic Star Cruiser ended up being. So much better than half measures and giving people that immersion thst Disney dropped the ball on.
They paid billions for an IP that had built in fan base - which made the IP worth billions, and they systematically set about destroying what they paid for and pissing off the fans. As Nerd Cookies said, they are allergic to money
Crazy, isn’t it? Even if they bought the bullet and paid George his royalties on OT/PT characters, worlds and ships, it would’ve made a boatload! All they had to do was build a mock-ups of Cantina, Jabbas Palace, Hoth, Death Star, Courescant, Bespin, or Endor, with all the well known characters and vehicle rides, and they probably could’ve charged $10K a pop, and it would’ve been booked. This was all on KK’s ego on pushing more Sequel garbage with Rey. 😂

Universal’s Wizarding World of Harry Potter gave them the blueprint: Make it like you’re stepping onto the set of the movie. You go “Wow. I know this. I’m there.” They did it with Pandora. What an incredible fumble based on a crazy lady’s hubris.
The problem is Disney wanted to do that but with their Canon, but nobody likes their canon. Disney desperately wants to pretend their take on Star Wars is just as good as the originals, which it is not.
It would be like if JK Rollins wrote a spin off series all about Harry’s son and then they made a park called Potter World only it had nothing to do with the books and movies everyone grew up watching, instead filled with spin off garbage nobody asked for
The answer is, putting people in charge of Star Wars, who hate Star Wars.

In 2019, Jeremy at “Geeks and Gamers” released a video called “This Video Will Make You Hate Galaxy’s Edge.” In it, he goes over some fan-made design of a “Star Wars” theme park with REAL “Star Wars” worlds, attractions, and rides. It’s impressive, and such a missed opportunity!

Who knew the back-up plan for Galaxy's Edge was Agrabah/Bagdad.
The biggest failing of GE - aside from it not allowing any of the original trilogy characters (outside of Chewy) is that it's DEAD.
Disney gave us essentially nothing they had promised.
They promised an inhabited land.
Instead, we visit a land where outside of the occasional performance or Storm Trooper or two - the land is uninhabited.
Where did everybody go??!!

That's what happens when you take control away from the people building their parks and go "no no no, we need this branded to something that is OUR stuff, not the old things." Disgusting.

Galaxy's Edge can't be fixed because KK's ego is in the way
After living in San Diego for so many years and not having to go to Disneyland for over 6 years, I finally went to Galixies Edge last Friday. It was interesting, but it was definitely a missed opportunity. They could have easily made it Mos Eisley, and that would have been awesome. The waiting area for the Falcon was cool, and the resistance ride was awesome. Even though it broke down twice while we were waiting in a long line for it. Oh, and looking at the grave ward, what was once called Splash Mountain ....I wanted to puke.

One ride is good, one ride is trash. You can't have a ride that relies on the skill of the rider for fun.
The mistake is that the sequel stuff dominates in the them park. No classic Star Wars. So no attraction for old school fans like me

Disney didn't want to get into legal battles over IP, and thus created everything for GE by themselves distancing themselves from other designs. I knew the entire star wars IP was in trouble during the early design development meetings and concepts.

When GE opened and I learned how they're charging 200 bucks for plastic that easily breaks and you can barely customize it, I went onto Etsy and found a metal crafted, battery operated hilt for around 150. I was very happy and still have it with a still functioning battery.
Nothing in Galaxys Edge resembles Star Wars! It looks like some generic abandoned space outpost. Why would I take my kids to a place that claims to be Star Wars land but nothing from it is actually Star Wars other then the Millenium falcon
Disney has gone down the road in recent years of creating rides as interactive experiences where the guests get to be part of the show. And thus Star Wars Galaxy's Edge was based around the idea of you getting to have your own Star Wars adventure. This is why the land only offers a single planet to explore. This is why the Millenium Falcon ride was designed as a video game (unfortunately, not a good one) rather than modeled after Star Tours. This is why the Star Wars Galactica Starcruiser was ultimately flawed. Disney needs to realize that most people don't want to be "part of the show." They just want to be entertained. And there already are plenty of better, cheaper ways that you can have your own Star Wars adventure if that's what you want. They are called video games.
Each park should have been a different era of SW. World could have been OT, Land could have been new trilogy, and Paris could have been prequels. Incentivize people to travel to ALL the parks. It’s even written into the story that Batuu has been around for centuries. Pump in the John Williams score for gods sake!

Disney is not for kids anymore. Disney is for adults who were fans in the 80s and 90s. Everything they make now is a rehash of older stuff. To tingle the ‘memberberries of the adults.
Worse, Disney is for adults who only became fans when the property became popular in the mainstream. They people who see jangling keys and are amused. A friend of mine said he liked the first two episodes of the Acolyte. Why? Because he got to see places referenced in the High Republic books. I know that feeling; I had it when I watched the first Silent Hill movie.
9:52 @universal when it works. It's been a few years but when we went almost everything there wasn't working properly. Got booted from 2 rides because of mechanical failures. 3hrs of wait on King Kong. Then we watched several kids @ wand-trick areas not getting any results at all to all our disappointment.
Disney fucked up thier branding no doubt, but I see a lot of maintenence slacking at every park we visit here in FL.
My kids and I went to universal last year in Florida, first ride we did was the Hogwarts ride in the castle and I had asked if it was scary…or had flips or anything? The attendant said no it just goes around on a track it’s not bad…as the ride started I saw a robotic arm lifting the carriage of seats and thought we are f*cked…my son screamed at the top of his lungs for half of the ride, the visuals were nauseating. I finally got my kids to close their eyes and we made it through without vomiting…Seriously a terrible ride, I had motion sickness for like an hour and a half after that and my kids were terrified to get on anything else. The park otherwise was great…but screw that ride.
Who are they hiring to put these shows and parks together? Even if they did DEI they should have been able to find passionate people from every background. I think Disney has a stranglehold on creative freedom. Everything they spit out is just bland and has no edge to it.
LucasWorld would have been the smart move.
The most exciting thing about Star Wars land is scanning crates. If only more people would take the time to scan the crates, there would be more room in line for …… what are the rides here again? That one where most people just mash buttons and the other one that is broken down 50% of the time. 🤷🏻♂️
My first time through Galaxy’s edge was when it only had smugglers run. Ride had not opened yet. I walked through the place and thought “ this is another land in animal kingdom but with spaceships.” ( don’t get me wrong, AK is my favorite park). But I felt like i was walking through an unknown place ( where Harry Potter world succeeds and this fails) where I was herded into a funnel of shops to spend money on bad merch. There was nothing familiar about it. It did not say Star Wars to me except the millennium falcon being parked there. The second time I went with my kids and they had fun as innocent kids will do. So I liked it for that. They did the lightsaber ceremony which was worth the money in my opinion ( when they gave quality carrying cases) . Other than that they missed it . They dropped the golden goose on thet park.

Rise of the Resistance is objectively NOT terrible. It’s an objectively great attraction with a not-so-great IP. It would be better with the original trilogy portrayed.

What they tried to do was incredibly ambitious and exciting but they couldn't pull it off.
And they didn't even try, outside of the physical land and rides.
All the living aspects of the project were cut.
Some appeared - rather poorly - behind a paywall in the short lived Starcruiser hotel.

I always questioned how that would be feasible given the number of guests.
All Disney had to do was put a triumvirate in charge of their Star Wars. On that triumvirate? Patton Oswalt, Seth Green and Ben Stiller. Then they could hire Jon Favreau to direct their movies. Oh, but that's all middle-aged white guys who love Star Wars. Couldn't do that.

I just got back from Universal Orlando. I loved the Harry Potter lands. I had a big, goofy smile on my face the whole time I was there. I can’t wait for the new one in Epic Universe.
I went to star wars land in 2019. The Falcon was rather good. The queue for it was soul crushing.
"I can run [the Disney Co] better than they do." Same idea applies to so much of today's "woke" society in general. Today's city of San Francisco (& previously the city of Detroit) is the poster child of "You Can Manage This Better than We Do."
Im going next year with my family.
Galaxies edge only serves to remind the fans of what they hate. Why would we want to waste our money there?
I just went to Galaxy’s Edge yesterday. The Rise of the Resistance attraction is amazing but would be better with Vader instead of Ren. The other ride is good but not that much different than Star Tours. Everything else is mediocre and doesn’t even feel like Star Wars for the most part.
Didn’t a girl do a 4 hour breakdown on why it sucks?

If anything, they should have made it much bigger.
I’ve been to GE tons of times (season pass holder) it looks like Star Wars but it doesn’t feel like Star Wars. I still go to get on the rides and look at the light sabers but meh

Been twice, won't be going a third time. Aside from Rise of the Resistance, nothing there worth bothering with. Smugglers Run is the most boring ride I've been on ever. Star Tours is still better than Galaxy's Edge.

@@joen8529 why would we find it good? Why would anyone find it good? On a TECHNICAL level, it might be impressive, but that has nothing to do with taste. That’s not what gets people on rides. The Avatar movies are technically impressive; their stories, the main reason I watch movies, are bad. The theming for the ride is bad (sequel trilogy). The story for it isn’t interesting. I’ve got zero reason to want to sit through a line for a ride honoring a garbage film trilogy.
I like these content creators but the talking over each other is so cringe. Having 8 ppl on the screen isn’t great. Two of them didn’t even say anything.
