  • Join me on leg 1 of a full, 4 legs day, flying around the gorgeous Caribbean in the awesome PILATUS PC-12/47.
    On this leg, we are going to get a VFR clearance from San Juan (TJSJ/SJU) to depart to St Maarten, Princess Juliana International Airport (TNCM/PJM/SXM). During Cruise, I will explain what the Aircraft Main Computer (EIS) is and how it works. Finally, we'll get to the gorgeous, famous St Maarten Airport and land on RWY 10 overseeing Maho Beach.
    On part two we will cross the pond over to St Barthelemy (TFFJ/SBH), Subscribe and enable notifications to be notified when part 2 is live.
    Feel free to ask your questions on the comment section below and I'll do my best to reply back!
    Also, you might get a more expedite answer through my Instagram account so go ahead and follow me!

    Thanks Shamir. I really enjoy your videos. The PC-12 is my favorite airplane. An airplane that's as practical as a screwdriver with its unimproved short field capabilities, range, payload, cabin space and impressive cruise performance.

    What a great video. Nice flying, and nice weather!
    I'm curious why you flew VFR. Was there a special reason?
    I'm also curious what the transition altitude is in St. Martin? (I noticed you called out Flight level 080. Did you change your alt. to 29.92 at some point?
    Aloha,
    John

    • @fersobe
      @fersobe  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi John,
      Great questions! Weather was nice therefore, it is quicker to just go VFR, specially since i'm already familiar with VFR flying around the caribbean.
      Transition Altitude in Juliana's airspace is 5,000 ft. Transition level is 6,500ft!!!
      On descent, we go from STD ALT Setting to Local at 6,500. on climb out, we switch to STD at 5,000!

    Question....Why would you tell the tower ready for departure and then break out the checklist on the runway? Shouldn’t you have taken care of the take off checklist items before calling ready for departure?

    • @CatarineausArmory
      @CatarineausArmory 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Roberto Negron Air carrier heads up policy. Taxi with heads up. Checklists are ran (single pilot) when stopped. Part of the TO checklist items are performed at RW alignment.

    • @fersobe
      @fersobe  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Roberto, that’s an awesome question. Our company policy requires us to perform the FINAL ITEMS checklist when cleared for takeoff. In this video, I was cleared to line up and wait, and then, eventually, to takeoff. If I were holding short, and then cleared for takeoff, it is up to me if I want to complete the checklist before I line up or after. I hope this answers your question.

    Wow i just started watching ur video, and i just bought from Carenado this beautiful PC-12... finally i got it, just had an tiny test flight, what an airplane... I just saw ur garmin, it had an list of ur legs, how you able to enter these legs, i only could enter the airport code, and flying direct to, without legs. so i could flying on VFR, but i want to try on IFR, and so i have to follow these legs, but i dont know how you put the legs in the garmin, I hope you could help me with this!

    • @fersobe
      @fersobe  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching. Unfortunately the Garmin GPS on Flight Sim is nowhere near realistic as the real life one. I had that same issue when I used flight sim long time ago.

      @@fersobe ah thanks anyway for your answer, but since i bought this beauty i really loves to fly with the PC-12, just now i will go to Porto in Portugal from LSGG Geneva, i was departed from Lelystad EHLE in The Netherlands, and flying VFR following flightplan, 20.000 ft, cruisehigh

      @@fersobe But I do still have another question, what is the max, and min vref speeds for the approach of the PC-12, is that between as I seeing on the speedometer, between 85 knots and 130 knots, and what’s the ideal Vref speed? Sorry I just curious about this just in loved plane haha

    Is prop RPM controlled automatically, or does the pilot adjust it?

    • @fersobe
      @fersobe  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Harry, the Prop is controlled by a Prop Governor installed in the PT6-67B. There’s 2 other limiters installed that will hold the prop at a constant RPM in case the main governor fails.

I want to fly mine on x plane and if I hear you're still flying,it will give motivation to do mine.also ,what are your typical flight levels between sju-pjm,pjm-sju,sju- at and back ,sju- tffj and back,and just to anguilla and back.let me know please so I can plan the flights properly. Your help will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!!

    • @fersobe
      @fersobe  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Chris, it's been couple of days since my last flight due to COVID, but things will ramp up again in few weeks. My typical flights are usually: 1. TJSJ-TFFJ and back... 2. TFFJ-TAPA- TFFJ. 3. TJSJ-TQPF and back... sometimes we do TJSJ-MBPV or MYNN. as well as MDLR and MDPC.
