I've NEVER been here BEFORE! - PC-12 Flight VLOG (ATC AUDIO)

  • Join me on this interesting trip down the Lesser Antilles from Saint Barthelemy (TFFJ/SBH) to St Vincent and the Grenadines; Bequia, J.F. Mitchell Airport (TVSB/BQU).
    I've never been to this specific airport before, so I share with you my ultimate process of flight planning preparation to unknown (to me) destinations. Flying to unfamiliar airspace presents its own challenges like clearances to fixes not in your flight plan.
    Feel free to ask your questions on the comment section below and I'll do my best to reply back!
    Also, you might get a more expedite answer through my Instagram account so go ahead and follow me!

    Capt. Shamir, what an enjoyable, informative flight! I've finally subscribed, ashamed I hadn't previously as I have watched many of your St. Barts and related videos for over a year. As a long-time non-pilot aviation enthusiast, I find your narrative very confidence-inspiring and relaxing. You balance your flight procedures, communications with ATC, and out-the-window travel-guide banter with a friendly, but professional ease. Oh and yes, what a stunning approach into Bequia! This is the kind of aerial sight-seeing from multiple flight levels you'll never experience on larger commercial flights. The PC-12 appears to be the perfect Caribean flight tool, with a magical mix of near STOL runway performance, a more efficient cruise speed, adequate passenger/payload/range, all in pressurized comfort, and a manageable flight deck for the pilot(s). I would think every meaningful airport in the Caribean is accessible to the PC-12 with the possible exception of Saba.
    I'd love to find myself one of your passengers one day, but being resident in Thailand it may be a while. Thanks for taking us along.

      @fersobe  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Bill.. Thanks for joining! I'm glad you liked my content and its definitely reason to bring you more!! I agree with you; I think the PC-12 can land on basically any runway in the Caribbean. SABA, I think number wise it checks out, but conditions must be favorable for this to happen.
      I'm planning on visiting Thailand next year! who knows?

    Hey Shamir! I love your videos, they are really well made and very enjoyable to watch. I use your videos to help me learn to fly the PC-12 on my PC Simulator. I was wondering if you would be able to talk a little bit about landing the PC-12 in a video. It all happens so fast it's hard to see what the procedure is, in terms of what you do with the throttle and when you flare, etc. That would be great to learn from a real PC-12 pilot! Keep up the great work! :)

    • @fersobe
      @fersobe  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Matt, I’m glad this helped you out on Flight Sim! I used to flight sim hardcore before and I can tell you, this bird handles waaay differently on the real life than on a Joystick. It will be probably impossible to recreate a landing following “real world” techniques in a Sim. Now, let me know if you need the air speeds for safe operation of Landing Gear, Flaps and Approach speeds and that, we can work it out!

    Hello Shamir,
    I have 2 questions, please.
    - What were you activating after gear up, the yaw dumper?
    - Then, with Foreflight App, I’ve noticed that in your Maps mode, your WPs were not in the right order to perform your approach with your clearance despite your flight plan. Were you just looking and using the search bar as a kind of trick to find the position of the WP after being cleared for the direct MIXUV? Then with the second clearance asking report BOTAB to find this new WP?
    I’m just asking because I’m pretty sure we all have our own tricks to use this app and that’s interesting to learn from people’s uses.
    Thanks,
    R.

      Hi Romain,
      Yes, the Y/D was turned on as soon as I brought the gear up. Also, I turned off the Landing and Taxi Lights.
      ForeFlight is a great tool for figuring things out before you make a decision on your routing. This is specially true if you’re flying with old GPS like the Garmin 530 and 430. I find myself using FF to verify waypoints, gliding distance etc.
      However, truth be told, when I fly with the Garmin 750/650 combo, my phone stays in my pocket as those new Garmins are AMAZING!

      @babo0n34 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Shamir Fersobe thanks for your reply! Yes I imagine about the 750! I’ve had a look on it but I am just experienced with 430/530.
      By the way, great video, thanks for this!

    And one thing you forget to mention when flying to one place you don’t know : is the Caribbean pilot guide. Not expensive bust must have. There is always one plane on a parking lot to steal one until you figure out how cheap you are. This is not my story.

    Hi Shamir, i have a few questions:
    1. It was the first flight for that day?
    2. When do you do check the engine parameters or do a run-up?
    I ask because here in Colombia, at the flight school I was, we should have to do a engine run-up before every single flight, following the SOP's

    • @aldobezzicheri6473
      @aldobezzicheri6473 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Swagzilla on turbine engine aircraft you do not do run up but you check some parameters before take-off and during the take-off run, like torque and ITT

    • @fersobe
      @fersobe  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi! The PC-12 doesn't require a regular run-up as most piston aircraft. This is because, generally, the engine reaches its highest temperatures on startup.

  • @nowayoutstp4
    @nowayoutstp4 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    800 pic in the PC-12, kind of miss it. Here's something that very few PC-12/45 pilots know.....the itt only has a 3 digit place holder. What does that mean?

    • @fersobe
      @fersobe  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Can't get it to 1,000 perhaps? I mean. If it gets there, you're basically frying the engine up. Let me know if I'm right!

    Shamir. With antigua easy way to make estimateS. When northbondary : make your estimate overhead or abeam anu and multiply by 2 the time for the south boundary. They still use the old way with the estimate that only Howard Hugues could understand.

    • @fersobe
      @fersobe  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Basically propellers rotate their angles so that the thrust goes forward, therefore slowing the plane down.
