I'm sorry that you don't care much for authenticity. Maybe We should change Wolverine into a black guy! And Daredevil to a white guy! Hell storm would be so hot if she were WHITE!
Alexandros Doane Originally Nick Fury was white. In the Ultimate universe Nick Fury was tailored to look like Samuel L Jackson. They actually went and go his permission for that. Of course Jackson went on to play Fury in the films. To be hoenst, I'm not sure which came first: Marvel casting Jackson because of the comic, or them doing the comic like that because they knew they'd be getting Jackson into the moves. Meanwhile the main 616 universe kept with a white Nick Fury. However, once Marvel NOW occured Fury was retconned to black to match the film universe as well.
Far as I know Nick Fury was caucasian originally but because of Samuel Jackson's popularity as an actor they made him black which is no problem for me.
I agree that there's no problem to be seen here. Despite the movie's mixed reviews, Duncan played a good Kingpin. I was young at the time, and his was the first depiction of the character I'd seen, so learning that the original was caucasian was actually strange for me.
Fisk started out as a good. Spider-Man foe, but with what Frank Miller did with him, he is an excellent Daredevil enemy ! Read the Born Again storyline for proof!
To everyone who's complaining about Kingpin's race change in the Daredevil movie, here's all I gotta say. If you loved Sam Jackson's Nick Fury, shut up.
in all fairness that was based on ultimate nick fury, who in turn was based on samuel l jackson, not that i genuinely give a damn about them making kingpin black, race of a character in the movie versions of comics is only really important if it doesn't makes sense for them to be other than what they are in the comics, IE black johnny storm is kinda dumb as would a white black panther. besides, the daredevil movie was shite for so many other reasons
To everyone complaining about the Kingpin's race change in the Daredevil movie, RELAX AND CHILL OUT and let's not be bigoted here, see Linklex7 in regards to Samuel Jackson as Nick Fury. Anyways courtesy of Vincent D'Ornofiro he's going to be a 100% caucasian in the Daredevil Netflix series and look like he stepped right out of the comic book pages, and don't turn this into a race flame war people, Duncan was great as the Kingpin, he was IMHO the only good thing about that movie, but I really want to see what dark demons D'Onofiro 'Private Pyle' brings to the character of Wilson Fisk.
I hate these race changes. If the character is black, then fine. I'm cool with black super hero or villain. I don't care. But these race changes just because political correct are just annoying. But just as alike, I would be frustrated if they'd turn black character white. While I don't expect every detail to go down to a spot, I still expect details to be as close as possible and different skin color big detail to get wrong. If you are making a movie and can't get character/event details even remotely right, then don't do a movie at all. Sure, I am open for certain degree of artistic freedom but I also expect that they get at least the basics right. Such as skin color, sexual orientation, who they date with, what's their role, personality and so on and so forth.
HumanHybrid he originally was white. then they changed i believe in the new 52. then one of the drawers thought it would be funny to make him look like Samuel l Jackson and that was how we got Samuel l Jackson as nick fury in the avengers.
Everybody's talking about DareDevil, but a war against Kingpin is the center of Jason Aaron's reboot of Punisher MAX. I've only gotten my hands on Volume 1, but it looks good so far.
Hell yeah! In my defense I grew up with the Spiderman Animated series. I like Vincent's portrayal of Kingpin because he has all the requirements. I hope that if he is used for any future Marvel movies that they get him some extra body mass and allow him to exude more self confidence (while in prison of course)... I'm kinda irked by his weird gestures while talking.
Guilty as charged. If you ask me I don't care if you're black or white, as long as you can play the character perfectly I can't complain, as for the actor who plays the kingpin in the daredevil series? He nailed it perfectly, it's like he was born for the character, for all I know he is!
It's kind of a shame that they haven't put Kingpin in the Spider-Man movies. he makes a better nemesis than the Green Goblin. I like the Daredevil movies, Ben Affleck was a good Daredevil along with the late great Michael Clark Duncan as Kingpin. John-Rhys Davies from the tv series Sliders & Raiders of the lost Ark Fame played Kingpin in Trial of the Incredible Hulk, back in 1989 too. with Rex Smith (Street hawk) as Daredevil.
Kingpin used to be a Spider-Man villain, but as events went on, Kingpin had more and more connections with Daredevil. So after awhile, he changed to be mostly a Daredevil villain.
***** The thing about Green Goblin is that he began as a shit character. He did nothing truly noteworthy until he threw Gwen off a bridge, which didn't kill her. Spiderman's webbing made a sudden stop that snapped her neck. Then GG died. For a long time, that was all there was to the Goblin. Harry became the next goblin, and his psychiatrist followed after. Still kind of a shit villain. Then there was the clone saga. The writers had admitted at one point that they didn't know where they were going with the story, so when the end came, they pulled something out of their ass: Norman Osborn was behind it all. Interesting twist, but utter bullshit. His heart was impaled and destroyed. Norman actually says that his formula gave him a healing factor and his heart mended. But that doesn't make sense since his heart couldn't pump blood to allow his body to do anything. All of that cemented his place as Spiderman's nemesis, but personally, I can't view him as such. He's boring and became the nemesis through incompetent writers. Venom or Doctor Octopus make far more sense. I'm a big Spiderman fan, but I more tolerate the Green Goblins, Hobgoblin, Demogoblin and Grey Goblin than enjoy their presence.
One of the coolest supervillains of all time. A human with no super-human strengths and yet the boss of some powerful assassins and villains. Now that leadership.
Morbius, Hammerhead, Molten Man, Hydro-Man, Man-Wolf, Tinkerer, Beetle and Jackal, 8 "less know" Spider-Man villains that deserve a video for this "Super Villain Origins" series.
I'm going to get flamed and attacked real hard by a lot of you TH-camrs, but here is my opinion on Race changes in these movies: 1.) I'm not trying to be racist here, but there truly is no other way that is going to come off. But why must EVERY character that gets changed from European, or any other Caucasian background be changed to be of black decent? Why can't we fucking change it to be a Oriental? An Indian? Why must it be black? Explain. 2.) It's stupid to change the race of a character solely to appease racial matters. I get most people are angry that these super heroes aren't "Black" and they are mainly "white" but a lot of people aren't complaining that the heroes that are actually black aren't getting movies. People should be complaining about that and get writers to create a movie based on their respective races. -as small as the list was because I decided I wanted to keep it brief so I can go into why I find these things to be racist all in themselves. Just because characters are white, doesn't mean you should go and change them "black" just to appease that one race. Everyone in the Marvel Universe is being changed to Black, why? Why the fuck must they be black? Why can't they be Chinese? Why can't they be Japanese? Why not Indian? Why not Native? If you say "Because they were enslaved for many years! So of course this has to be it!" then you're fucking pathetic and that is a weak argument that I hear so often. So were the Chinese, and definitely the Natives. Fuck, The Natives are so few in numbers now that it is laughable to say African's have suffered worse than they have. Johnny Storm's race is going from White to Black and that is just bullshit. I don't need to see black people rape my movies anymore. Diversify my fucking movies by making them Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Indian, or Native NOT fucking Black just to appease people. Fuck it. I guess I should expect in about 2 more years to for Batman to be a Black man, or Superman to be a Black man JUST to appease black people. But who cares about Natives, or the rest of the world because well... Black people. Fucking done. FUCK it.
I don't personally think they look for specific races when they reboot a lot of these movies. I feel that they indeed keep racial diversity in mind since it's a newer age, but at the end of the day look for the man (or woman) that conveys the character in the best light purely based on acting skill and overall representation. I'm not saying Asians and Natives or whoever else besides blacks are not capable of representing traditionally white heroes or villains well....once again, I just believe they examine certain actors' skills and cast who fits the part.
DayjMan No, when they change a race it's because of "racism" and not just solely the actors traits. There are ample amount of actors and unknown and faceless actors that could most likely fit the parts perfectly, but they will not do that. It's a marketing ploy. It's retarded. And I am getting fed up. "African" Americans are among the most racist people on the planet.
Jonny Apples I agree with your point on the white actors being chosen because they were best suited for the role (my initial point with Makoto Kazuki). I just want to add though that race swaps from white to other races aren't always necessarily to appease whatever race they are changed to. Yes, I believe they are trying to re-imagine characters to be more racially diverse at times, but at the same time they wouldn't pick any random black guy out of a barrel and give him the role....they want the best actor suited for the role at the end of the day.
Arinze Ihezue I am sure that there are a handful of other minorities(And let's be real here, blacks, browns, and yellows aren't really minorities anymore :P ) But I know that there are numerous people heading out for roles. It's entertainment the one stop cash cow if you get lucky. The thing is, in any business if the employers are looking for a certain race, gender etc, then they won't hire anyone else until that certain race, or gender is found with decent acting skills. Human Torch, from what my understanding wasn't a robot ever. He was added into the series after it was becoming a bore. Since there were only the 3 plus this robot companion that the Fantastic 4 had. But they decided to add someone else in, and it was the Human Torch(From my understanding and memories of the origins of the character.) So yes, I can still be agitated at the racial swap. Heck, even if I am wrong about the origin of the Human Torch, it then brings me back to my original point; "Why must he be black?" I like your reply because you weren't an asshole, and gave me a good, and thoughtful reply, instead throwing me the "YOU'RE RACIST YOUR PRICK!" Type of comments. Thanks for that :)
I really loved MCD in that role, but if they plan on bringing Kingpin back into the cinematic universe, via the new Spider-Man films or Daredevil reboot, I suggest that they cast Kim Kold as Wilson Fisk. The dude is ripped to all heck, has beautiful and emotional acting skills, speaks English clearly with a great accent, looks fat in clothes with sleeves, and can kick butt (watch his fight with The Rock in F&F6). Just shave his head, and he's perfect for the role. I love his indie films.
Santos Castro The show is awesome. On to episode 9. My only complaint so far is that I wish he was in his Daredevil costume earlier. But I like how they give him a back story before he puts on the suit like they did for "Bale" in Batman begins. Most superhero movies they already show the person in the suit rather then how he became who he is to wear the suit.
Awesome Video! I read the comics in my childhood. In Germany the comics are translated in the late 1980ies/early1990ies. Thankyou for remembering the memories!
Holy shit your telling me he was dead the whole time he was acting in that movie in 2003, the year I was talking about. Man its amazing that he never got a academy award for that. I bet he would have had he gone with the white face idea I had tho #Oscarssowhite
I really dislike when they change the characters damn race. Kingpin is white, not black. The same way that Nick Furry is black but in 1994 spiderman he is white.
That's because they were originally meant to be black, but they changed them to white because they thought it would not go over well with racist audiences. Now, they tried to change it back, thinking these are more progressive times. Alas, it seems you and two morons dissagree...
Not to mention: Have you SEEN the Kingpin? Few actors could play him. Michael Clark Duncan was chosen because he was the only actor available who could pull that physique.
Yes, but he was originally meant to be black, but it wouldn´t go over well with white audiences. Why do people make such a big deal of this shit? Pardon my language, but ITS A FUCKING COLOR, jesus. He's still the same character, plus, I prefer Kingpin and Fury black, both actors know how to make them threatening and cool.
Regardless the skin color difference between the Kingpin and Michael Clarke Duncan he portrayed the best way...he was great as Kingpin, charming, intimidating he was great, actually was the best part of the DareDevil Movie...hope they reboot this amazing franchise either on a film or a TV Series like Arrow...
TV series is actually in the works. Look up "Netflix Marvel TV Shows" on Google. Sadly, MCD is no longer with us. Also the directors cut of Daredevil isn't half bad: it adds almost an hour of extra footage that ads a shitload depth to the characters.
Seriously! You are the only one to make a concise, logical statement without calling me a racist! You brought up one great point that I didn't think of - Kingpin's eloquence. Perhaps there is someone out there who can match Kingpin's appearance, but their acting would make Ben Affleck look like Ben Kingsley!
Quite Honestly I can't think of a heavy set man or white actor to play kingpin. I prefer hollywood to keep things as natural as possible characters or bio pics. Looper is a good exception and Jeff Bridges in Tron, that was good cgi.
My favorite version of Kingpin is Roscoe Lee Brown in Spider-Man TAS. The dude is dark as hell. Not only is he strong enough to man handle Spider-Man, Scorpion, Dock Ock, and Rhino (yes even fucking Rhino is scared of him), but he owns the whole damn city. His main hideout is the fucking CHRYSLER BUILDING. He was willing to kill Peter Parker to Keep his name safe from selling government secrets, he organized the sinister six, he made an interdimensional portal strong enough to blow up the whole universe AND multiverse, he bought out the FBI. The dude is overpowered as hell and unstoppable. My only complaint is that Spider-Man never had a proper final fight and they overuse him for 5 seasons. Still a great portrayal IMO
This has always baffled me about the films.... Kingpin debuted in the Spiderman comics and then years later appeared prominently in the Daredevil comics.... Couldn't have Sony and Fox both used the character in their movies while being played by different actors back then? Since same thing happened with Quicksilver in the MCU and the Fox films as he and Scarlett Witch were both integral characters in both the X-Men and Avengers comics that there were shared movie rights....

Anyways courtesy of Vincent D'Ornofiro he's going to be a 100% caucasian in the Daredevil Netflix series and look like he stepped right out of the comic book pages, and don't turn this into a race flame war people, Duncan was great as the Kingpin, he was IMHO the only good thing about that movie,
but I really want to see what dark demons D'Onofiro 'Private Pyle'
brings to the character of Wilson Fisk.
Nick fury is black in the ultimate comics
HumanHybrid he originally was white. then they changed i believe in the new 52. then one of the drawers thought it would be funny to make him look like Samuel l Jackson and that was how we got Samuel l Jackson as nick fury in the avengers.
Because of the success of joker and brightburn, kingpin should have his own origin solo movie, and also thano.
1:18 Is Spidey so poor that he couldn't have just made a new suit?
does this also mean that, the suit have been stitched/patched to hell and back?
In the series he mentions it a LOT who makes new/patches them p, but I don't remember her name.
***** Mary Jane?
Allen Babylon
wut?
Wilson Fisk is one of my favorite villains of all time.
Daredevil 2015 brought me BACK here
Christopher Charles
*Same XD*
Everybody's talking about DareDevil, but a war against Kingpin is the center of Jason Aaron's reboot of Punisher MAX. I've only gotten my hands on Volume 1, but it looks good so far.
+Christopher Charles Vincent D'onofrio is the shit ! he makes me want to give Kingpin a hug and stab him in the throat at the same time.
Christopher Charles the 2003 Daredevil movie is what brought me here
Into the Spiderverse brought me here
R.I.P Michael Clarke Duncan! Your portray of Kingpin was awesome!
I bet you daredevil Netflix series brought you here... Admit it
It brought me back I always found kingpin interesting and I enjoy his portrayal in the Netflix series
"We don't say his name..."
Junior Odunuga how would it lead you "here"? specifically or in general
this channel is pure awesomeness
I loved Michael Clarke Duncan as Kingpin
The Green Goblin is such a lame villain
He's so boring. Magneto is the boss.
tavi921
lolz magneto is the mostest boringest ever.
He has a lot of manipulation skills, technology and money 💰 though.
Honestly they should just put D'Onofrio into the new Spidey movie and have him act as the bad guy.
Yeah, no, that's a terrible idea. Having a guy who can decapitate a man with a car door, appear on a family movie, isn't the wisest move
It is all the same universe, but it is funny how you put that.
well it's possible that they may cross paths one day, I mean since they're in the MCU in all
Nick Gaschler The all powerful US Govt. He wants to get out in a legit manner so he can go back to running things in NYC.
Skepticktok He is almost an exact replica of the character.
Kingpin is the guy alot of people wish they were but he's also the kind of people we shouldn't strive to be
Michael Clark Duncan definitely had the best body type for a live action Kingpin, Rest In Peace 🙏
The white Suge Knight
Lol. Good one
but Suge Knight is a punk bitch that got whooped outside a club. It would take atleast 5 men to even stand a chance against Kingpin
IKR lol
Morbius, Hammerhead, Molten Man, Hydro-Man, Man-Wolf, Tinkerer, Beetle and Jackal, 8 "less know" Spider-Man villains that deserve a video for this "Super Villain Origins" series.
Whos here after today episode. Hahaha
WIlson Moriarty; got to love that Sherlock Holmes tie in regarding the last name.
The Kingpin is awesome, and Michael Clarke Duncan was a PERFECT fit for him!
R.I.P Michael Duncan :'(
Who else here from Into the Spiderverse?
Me too kingpin is a beast in that movie
Ya he was strok
Not me
No I was from daredevil
But why is he overly exaggerate large in Spider verse? Yes, I know that Kingpin is a big guy but he's not that exaggerated in the comics .
If only M.C.D lived another 4 more years, he would have made a far better apocalypse than he would kingpin
I'm going to get flamed and attacked real hard by a lot of you TH-camrs, but here is my opinion on Race changes in these movies:
1.) I'm not trying to be racist here, but there truly is no other way that is going to come off.
You are right like they changed Green Lantern to Ryan Reynolds , like are you serious keep them the way the comic says
Heck, even if I am wrong about the origin of the Human Torch, it then brings me back to my original point; "Why must he be black?"
I like your reply because you weren't an asshole, and gave me a good, and thoughtful reply, instead throwing me the "YOU'RE RACIST YOUR PRICK!" Type of comments. Thanks for that :)
Just finished watching s3 of daredevil series. Don't know what to say, maybe the best marvel series I've seen .Every character is awesome.
Michael Clark Duncan was the best part of that DareDevil movie....Anybody that feel otherWise is stupid
ezthejedi no foolin, Michael Clarke Duncan took the cake
ezthejedi bullseye was better
Wrong colour tho
When the original Spider-Man movies with Tobey Maguire were being made, I always hope the kingpin would appear in them
Vincent D'Onofrio does a great kingping in the latest DD
It's a guilty pleasure for me. I too liked it, despite the script the actors had to work with, but to all their own.
*He’s “all muscle” yet has a giant gut and double chin.... How?*
2% fat
This 350 Muscled Mobster Is New York’s Biggest Crime Boss And The Formidable Nemesis Of Spider-Man And The Main Arch Nemesis Of Daredevil
Respect from France.
Who else watched this after, or while in the process of, watching the Daredevil series on Netflix?
Kingpin is most powerful mere mortal in the Marvel universe
Who is here because daredevil show lol
Me XD
Haha me
Santos Castro and me XD
Santos Castro The show is awesome. On to episode 9. My only complaint so far is that I wish he was in his Daredevil costume earlier. But I like how they give him a back story before he puts on the suit like they did for "Bale" in Batman begins. Most superhero movies they already show the person in the suit rather then how he became who he is to wear the suit.
Here here
I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE. Thanks :D
seriously a man of that size does not weigh 350pounds it more like 600pounds
i love these glad to see them coming out more often can't wait to see the next one
3:31 What is Angry Joe doing here!? D:
***** Phrikeares *Colin Farrell
Toxic Twist *Angry Joe
holy shit, that was hilarious
Awesome Video! I read the comics in my childhood. In Germany the comics are translated in the late 1980ies/early1990ies. Thankyou for remembering the memories!
MCD should of played kingpin in white face for the 2003 version.
Um....he's dead
Holy shit your telling me he was dead the whole time he was acting in that movie in 2003, the year I was talking about. Man its amazing that he never got a academy award for that. I bet he would have had he gone with the white face idea I had tho #Oscarssowhite
Oswald Cobblepot yeah, but 9 years later, he died of a heart attack at the age of 54, three years younger than my grandfather was when he died
Damian Prock well aware. Didn't know he was three years younger than your grandfather tho. Learn something new everyday I guess.
Love the 94 animated version of Spiderman with Kingpin. Perfectly voiced by Rocoe Lee Browne.
DarkScherzo94 Nathan Jones would of made a nice Kingpin also but he isn't as popular and not that good of an actor so yes Duncan was best.
Uhh no Nick Fury was originally white and still is white. He's only black in tv,movies and ultimate universe.
Rip Michael Clarke Duncan
Shouldve hire the fat guy from Carlito way movie
Damn it Mojo, stop keeping me up all night!!
That 2% of body-fat must be his double chin
Seriously! You are the only one to make a concise, logical statement without calling me a racist! You brought up one great point that I didn't think of - Kingpin's eloquence. Perhaps there is someone out there who can match Kingpin's appearance, but their acting would make Ben Affleck look like Ben Kingsley!
Kingpin V.S. Walter (from The Mask)
That would be an Awesome fight! xD
I love how Kingpin fought Spiderman and then became Daredevil's worst enemy.
this is hardly an origin. this is just a recap of first appearance.
what is the background music in all the watchmojo films?
Quite Honestly I can't think of a heavy set man or white actor to play kingpin. I prefer hollywood to keep things as natural as possible characters or bio pics. Looper is a good exception and Jeff Bridges in Tron, that was good cgi.
Asukarave Brian Shaw
The Big Show should play him
Yeesh, everyone's raging because he was black in the movie...
Putting "i'm not trying to be racist" doesn't help.
Comic fans are just extremely obsessed with crap staying true to source material
yeah, has nothing to do with racism. if Storm or the Black Panther was remade to be anything but black, we'd be equally as pissed
Xarazel Thats not really the same thing tho. Storm and Black Panther is a part of a minority.
TheSeductiveGiraffe its the exact same thing
TheSeductiveGiraffe Just because they are not white doesn't mean it's not the same thing. Lol!
Michael Clarke Duncun Played the role well :(
This has always baffled me about the films....
After Hawkeye
Micheal Clark Duncan
R.I.P.
I don't care what any of you say. I loved the Daredevil movie.
Daredevil and the green lantern movie got a lot of hate, I am confused as to why
john golda the writing of green lantern and some cgi were iffy. but ryan reynolds did great in his role.
One of the best villians never properly used in spiderman films
Who’s here for Hawkeye?
We all miss you Michael Duncan
