I agree. Sales don't automatically mean a game or series sucks and isn't popular or profitable. Mega Man has been going strong for over 30 years, has multiple spin-offs, has been in several crossovers, has plenty of merch, several animated shows, and tons of diehard fans. It's simply been bumped down a few rungs. Longevity is not a sign of a failed or fallen franchise. People who call the series niche don't understand what niche actually means. Niche means occupying a very specific slot. An animal that evolved to eat a fast spreading, poisonous plant would fill an environmental niche. A product to help make a handicap person's life easier such as a ramp in a van, would be filling a consumer niche.
If they were to get a different game company to make X9, I'll say Inti Creates would be perfect for the job... assuming if they'll take the job in the first place. If they do take it, I'll like to see what they'll do with X9 and their ideas for it... If they do make the game, just make sure the game doesn't have certain sections with screen crunch (I'm getting log section flashbacks in Zero one on my first playthrough).
If IC specifically got to play with the X series, it might help bridge the gap between that and Zero. Assuming, of course, there isn't some rule about keeping things vague. I do wonder sometimes.
MM11 proved that with the right development team and a modest development window, a really good game can be produced with minimum effort and maximum result. MMX9 would be a game relatively inexpensive to produce but would make a respectable amount of money. So yeah, I think we are headed into "when this game gets made" territory. 🙏
I think 1.6 M sales does not tell the entire story. Capcom is very lenient towards Illegal Fan Projects so a lot of people play Mega Man games on emulators. If I were to pick a number, it would be around 6 or 7m.
Fair point. I know I've been seeing a lot of buzz for that hour of X Corrupted gameplay that just dropped, so fan projects are definitely keeping love for the franchise alive.
megaman 11 blowed huge ass. i dont have huge hopes for x9. with both megaman 11 and everything thats been coming out for RE, i dont have any high hopes for the game if it ever comes out.
I don't think the game sucked. I just think it's too short for it's own good (10 stages if you don't include the boss rush and the very small section before you fight Dr. Wily). As for Resident Evil, I can't say anything about it because I haven't played a single game in that franchise, but I saw my dad play the fourth game and my brother play the sixth game.
I wanna ask, what did you dislike about 11? It’s not my favorite (4, 7, and 9 overtake it), but a lot of the stuff I enjoyed about the 8-bits and 16-bits are full force in 11. The boss stages could of definitely been better, and the lack of Proto-Man and Bass was disappointing, but I really enjoyed it, but what do you think?
@@ExploDjinn I mean, having a different point of view is fine and dandy, but why should we "snap out of" anything? Frontiers has a lot of qualities, even with its flaws, and it's understandable to think it's pretty good (no masterpiece though)
@@playbossthebest936 If you like it, I think that's cool, even if I don't get it. I mostly just said what I did because I like being bombastic and hyperbolic, plus, due to a few oddball circumstances, I just find myself being a lot harsher than I normally would towards Frontiers and Prime.

0:49 I never noticed there's a pun there!

We just gotta keep plowing through, they’ll eventually realize these games make bank and can appeal to their old and new audiences.
Yeah, but I'm not a patient man when it comes to waiting. Hopefully, we'll get a X9, ZX3, or Legends 3 this decade... which seems very unlikely.

4:02 bruh...
I like Sonic 3, Mania, Adventure 2, even Forces, to name a few. You guys have been really perplexing me lately, though.

@@ExploDjinn that's fair. It was pretty funny anyway
