I’m an IBEW electrician of 17 years. Industrial from 9 to 5, but I’ve done residential for decades, and have re-wired dozens of boats and vehicles. I’m on vacation until July 19th. I’m in Central PA. Let’s barter? I’ll make the trip and supply the materials and labor. You supply a meal and a couple beers, and we’ll call it even. Not a joke. My wife has been begging me to take her to the beach, so let’s just say you’re marina is on our way to Rehoboth beach.
Wow, that’s a very nice offer! I hope he sees this and takes you up on it! I think he’s a good guy and tries hard, sounds like a fun time even if work is involved! Very kind offer in my opinion, and I think it would be fun too! 😊
OMG I miss rehoboth beach so much!! When we were stationed in NJ, hubby and I stayed in the old Victorian style hotel on the boardwalk a couple times. We always went in the off season because we enjoy the quiet beach. That hotel had the best lobster mac and cheese on the planet
You should just mount a 12V circulator pump up by the tank with a pickup tube that can lay over the side for raw water or lay into the heat tank to recirculate the tank water. The current system you have no way to flush fresh water or run a "clean cycle" on the water heater. The tubes are probably packed with mud, corrosion and salt.
Bil, the manager at Fairwinds’s marina used to do boat wiring for his main gig. He’s got a lot of knowledge and might be able to get it figured out. Very good guy
Luke, the problem with the heater is either the pump is not moving enough water so the burner and coil are making steam or the nozzle in the oil burner is too big and needs to be a smaller size. If you do downsize the nozzle, you may need to adjust air on the burner as well. 2 things: Make sure you're not making smoke and the burner lights consistently if you do install a smaller nozzle.
@@cooperbybee4308seems like it. If all that was changed was the pump then the flow rate may not be the same. But also he said the other fuel was watered down so maybe it was burning cooler bc it couldn’t burn properly but that’s less likely.
There has to be a limit switch (an aquastat) wired in series to turn the burner on and off at desired temperature, that’s all. Should be a simple, straight forward fix. Even if it’s a cold start-on demand hot water system there still has to be a limit on it.
100% you’re not getting enough water flow so since it has a little bit of water trickling through it heating it up way too fast the more water you put through it the cooler it’s gonna get
I'm so old I remember my father getting crabs in the summer at the old fish market downtown for like 10 bucks a bushel and coffee for 15 cents for a large. Of course people made about 2 dollars an hour back then. Good luke Luke your hard work will be rewarded.
What kind water do you use for cleaning the crab pots? Anyhow, if it turns to steam, it will put your boiler full of scale. So that is the first thing to do, descale the boiler. And check for blockages. Secondly, the pump. As your new old boiler seems to be producing more heat, you will need a bigger pump. Bigger pump needs bigger suction line. That mentions the suction line, check for clogging/blockages. The pumping capacity needs to be oversized so that you can regulate the temperature with the flow through the boiler (via the inlet valve). Lastly, same for the boiler itself, can you regulate the fuel flow?
We threw back about 60% of our haul last week in Indian River Bay DE, prego female time of year but keeping the crop alive and still got a few dozen for home!😎

You are a solid dude. Buying EZ Ups and water for your customers while struggling with the boat and struggling to catch crabs shows you have solid character. I hope people appreciate that getting a look into a waterman's life is special. It seems to get harder every year for you guys. God Bless!
Their running out the mouths of rivers and creeks where the water is cooler and better oxygenated you need a small boat that and they're probably moving to the bottom of the main channels too. When it gets hot that's what they do
Luke, my man, I grouper fished commercially out of Dunedin Fl. for 6 years. I love you and your channel content. If people don't subscribe to Luke, ya'll ain't no cranberry. You are amazing. Much love to you Lyndsey and all of the folks who have supported ya'll.❤😊❤
On your soft crabs.......get a 5-15 minute default is on switch. So switch is always on till you turn the switch and then it will stay off for 5-15 minutes (depending on how far you turn the dial) then automatically turns the system back on. No worries about forgetting that way.
Hey Luke, you don’t have to pay me just feed me and I’ll rewire your whole boat for you. The only thing is I’m coming in from Charlotte, North Carolina. I am originally from Long Island. I went crabbing my whole life as a kid when school was out and after school in the fall. I love what you doing. Keep up the great work.
Luke your water pump when you put wire crimps on every crimp tool I've found nick the shrink coating a little alows water to corod it get a small bottle of liquid electric tape lowes carries it paint that over crimps it works great stay cool
I like your channel. Aircraft basically use a version of diesel fuel (although not completely compatible). Sumping (draining) a cup or two of water from the lowest part of the tanks on a regular basis is standard procedure. Water will always settle below the fuel because it's heavier. If there's water you'll see it in the drained fuel container. Put a sump valve at the lowest point and use it a few times a week. BTW, the water gets into the aircraft tanks by condensation forming inside the tanks or fuel trucks with water in its tanks.
Man I feel ya. Seems like I have been having a lot of weeks like this as well lately. Look forward to next week's updates. Always impressed with how you expand your business to work better for you.
Dude I feel you, I had a few weeks like this. I got a piece of equipment stuck and broke the winch, then flipped it over, hit a rock in dry grass and started a small fire, messed up my paperwork for the job site, then got rear ended in my work truck. Some how I still have a job (which I am very thankful for) and am trying to figure out how just not do any of that again.
Funny... its 90 here in north florida... with a noticed that its going to feel like 107... wtf.... its feela like 85 right now. Overcast with a breeze... gotta love the weather channel. Its not the heat....

Arm chair capt hear. Why don’t you get one way scupper valves? My boat has a rubber flap. Let’s the water out when I’m moving and doesn’t let it. My bilge has been broken for years and I’m always dry. Or wet but no water in the bilge accumulating.
Pump sounded like it was either sucking air or starved for water. Might be worth checking for a leak on the inlet tubing, however I would think it is more likely that the pump suction tube is plugged, or the inlet on the hull is plugged. You’re a hard working people, much respect. Good luck with the fix. :)
Finally! I've been looking for a Chesapeake Bay blue cull stick all summer, and no one who makes the popular ones seems to think 5 1/4" is a measurement anyone needs for some reason.
Dude, making a new accessory wire harness is a piece of cake. Map the boat of what and where you need power. Order up some spools of thwn if your going cheap, or some gptm to do it right. You can run everything to a power supplied fuse box.

Keep up the hard work man! Best I did for the heat in Texas was soaking a rag and putting it in my hat, maybe try that and have a small cooler with ice water and when you need to re dunk you know it will be cold. Stay safe and cool Luke!
Suggest getting an electric fuel pump & 1 qt spin on fuel filter with a water separator drain , and run copper tubing to suck gunk from the bottom of any fuel tank. Put other hose into a can or back into the tank. Water sinks to the bottom of fuel tank
On your water unit put a temperature sensor unit on it like they do to chicken scalder. That will let you keep it at the temperature you want to be keep at.
Luke! Forget the shipping of crabs. Too much work and risk. Use your time to expand into oyster sales at the Boat. Have them delivered to you or a designated helper on Saturday morning. You have the trailer/cooler space and a perfect boat/location to sell them out of.
Luke you should take Lindsay to Italy specifically to Sicily, where they are having a big problem with blue crabs in so much of an abundance fisherman do not know what to do with them. You should look into this and make a video about it.
There has to be a limit switch (an aquastat limit) to turn the burner (is burner a Beckett?) on and off in relation to temperature. If the water is getting too hot, the aquastat limit is not turning the burner off at desired temp. Easy peazy. Even if it’s a cold start/on-demand coil style hot water system there has to be a hot water temp limit and a relief valve on it, or they wouldn’t be able to sell it. It’d be a potential b+mb if it didn’t.

Luke, you mentioned the heater used for cleaning the traps was getting too hot, steaming. I would suspect that there would be a thermostat on any kind of heating device. Look to see if you have a defective thermostat. If it is closed and not opening up on tempeture, it won't shut off on the desired tempeture. You may want to install a time of day on off device which can turn on and off your crab tank automatically instead of having to remember when to plug it in.

I would put a check valve after that pump cuz what I think's happening is the water pressure is being pushed backwards due to the state the steamer game too hot and actually causing the water to build up steam Richmond water turns the same expands and it can go both directions That's why we put check valves on the water lines for like water heaters and stuff like that so that way it doesn't go backwards due to heat and pressure
She’s so awesome luke very hard to find a beautiful woman who believes in you and is your best friend as well She digs you big time and you deserve it Love your videos and knowledge etc
Need a second hand engine block cleaner then you can chuck in a pot and line up the next ones in the 5 minutes it takes to blast them back to pristine. As much as two pressure washers but you don't have to pay someone to run it either, right? Just a thought, ask your engine builder how much they like theirs(or if you can run some pots through it)! Need an old water cooler chiller to keep the crabbros cool maybe? Sorry with the, "buy this, buy that!" Only suggestions to save a buck good sir, keep up the great work! Best luck!

We went out 2 weeks ago on our boat and got a bushel. Went out the other day for 5 hours and got 25 crabs. We moved the trotline 5 different times to different depths. Its crazy
Hey Luke My dad would leave his Jimmy crabs in his pots to attract the peeler crabs. We’re from Delaware and had the market flooded so we had to start hauling into Maryland and Virginia.
Just started watching you a short time ago and I have to say you are one solid guy. You are a jokester and I like that but you have a don't quit work attitude and you my friend are going to be someone who is going to make it really big one day. Think about a water pump that runs off the front of your motor with a vbelt. Truck mount carpet cleaning rigs use them.
You're dribbling water into your float, which does not provide the crabs enough oxygen. Use sprayers and put a cover over it.
The water should have plenty oxygen though since it’s pumped in from the marina
@@davidoutside Too many crabs to supply enough oxygen from marina water.
@@Ewellladso explain how his crabs have been alive that long? They died from overheating in the sun.
Luke has only been doing it the same damn way for ten years without a problem!! So all you arm chair grabbers stick it where the sun don't shine!!
@@chuckfowler8875 I am from Smith Island. I was crabbing for a living before Luke was born.
Put in a in line fuel filter and or separator. That should help with contamination
Best luck!
With all the trials come tribulations..love your hard work ethics that makes great content. Good work you deserve the success young man🙏🏽 NZ
Love ur videos! And love the since of humor! Hope the crabbing picks up, stay safe and good luck from Southeast TX.
Italy is having a blue crab infestation. Maybe its time to start importing crabs.
I've seen that. They even are killing them because they have so many. They just need some good seasoning and start steaming them.
I bought two shirts and a hoodie. They are great quality and I love the design on them. People always ask me where I got them especially since I live in Arizona 😂
We went out 2 weeks ago on our boat and got a bushel. Went out the other day for 5 hours and got 25 crabs. We moved the trotline 5 different times to different depths. Its crazy
Thank always for such great knowledge.
Hey Luke
My dad would leave his Jimmy crabs in his pots to attract the peeler crabs. We’re from Delaware and had the market flooded so we had to start hauling into Maryland and Virginia.
Hope you had a great 4th of July Luke. You’re a very positive young man. Stay that way. 🇺🇸
Got your crabs from Jimmy’s for my 89 year old dad he was ecstatic.
Just started watching you a short time ago and I have to say you are one solid guy. You are a jokester and I like that but you have a don't quit work attitude and you my friend are going to be someone who is going to make it really big one day. I worked a crab boat for a short while after I got out of the Navy, the Capt was kinda crabby so I quit.....
ya commercial catfishing is rough in the summer also. have to take cold well water in the tank. but ya some fish still die on the lines.
Herr's Old Bay Cheese Curls are the bomb!!!
Blue Catfish is my favorite fish to catch and eat.
Ripple chips hold up better when you use a dip. Can’t wait to taste them.
Luke, you are awesome! It’s obviously hard, hard work to be successful in the crabbing business, but keep it up!! We need these CB blue crabs! Wish I was closer to you, to give you my business!! I would in a heartbeat!!! Love the videos!
You can buy them from him he ships them now
