I had to run our old 20', (6.1meters) bore mill. A dam had ordered some turbine shaft housings from the lowest bidder (surprise) and the only machine they would fit on was the old Ford mill. It was actually used by Ford during the war. I was told they machined tank parts on it, then I was told locomotive parts so I don't know, but it was WWII tech. The old girl straightened out those housings to less than .001 TRO. When they came in they were .044 to .048 (inch) out per bearing surface. We had a nice older Hardinge M52 with C axis and live tooling that I liked to program and run. The programmers back then programed line to line, (Master Cam 5), and they were not familiar with canned cycles. They just told me to program it myself, and I did. Not all that hard. We had some horizonal CNC's that they'd run the spindle at 8000RPM, (30hp spindle I think), with an .125" endmill and wonder why the spindles didn't last. Way too much machine for what they were doing. I did a lot of Inconel on the Hardinge and it did a wonderful job. Thanks for posting. Smiles.
i dont usually leave comments on videos but some of you guys are far too easily impressed. id be changing 90% of whats being done here. im only talking about the twin spindle as thats where im best but its too slow, the tips grades are wrong, you could be deburring more on the machine, you shouldnt need to restop out your bar if you were transferring correctly in the first place. i could go on.
On the brass part, after you had cut the hex, I would have knocked the corners off, gone up the face and chamfered the O/D. Much neater and means you dont have to spend time deburring.
If this is normal speed, that thing can really plunge into copper(im assuming?) and have a great tool speed without chowdering or bouncing etc. Sooo much better than some of the half-cocked ways I've seen guys run programs. Watching this stuff is mesmerizing sometimes.
Did fighter jet parts for our defense team on a dual spindle with live tooling now doing it on a haas 20 s brand new also using bob cad cam version 32 I can do everything on my own no programmers needed 4 me anymore my biggest acomplacment in the machine world
When people make machining videos, they try to use brass because you can get away with machining brass without coolant. The coolant obscures the part you’re making, which makes the video pointless if you can’t see what’s happening in the machine.

This machine work so beautiful its unbelievable
Humans with machines can create incredible things.
Nice Horizontal borer, I'd love to operate that. I'm on a similar but very much older type of horizontal. Great machines
Awesome video. Makes me wanna go clock in and start turning some metal.
really beautiful video, it was amazing to watch it. i really enjoy it. i hope that one day i will make it too as you.
Marian Hroncek same here, three years later. Do you have any machines?

Please don’t.

this isn't a boring mill at all!
That is awesome. That would take me a while to do on my lathe.
I'm ASSUMING !! TEN TIMES ! LONGER !!??
If I machined plastic and brass all day I'd be a much nicer person.
+Hvguy volvoftw
+Hvguy Sounds like you could need some stress management
+Thomas Medlin I take stress management, its called machining aluminum and shooting guns lol
Brass is a bitch, I disagree with you any day of the week
Acts like freaking bubblegum
You got to love it when a dual turret functions at its best. :-)
Isn't this dual chucks rather then turrets?? ...seems one turret but 2 chucks to me
I only saw one turret in that lathe.
Impressive,like machining butter
Brass is like butter
Perfect drilling❤
Very exellent programming. Impressed.

how come when machining brass or peek, that you were using steel based inserts? not ally/plastic based i.e vcgx al-h10.
Exactly. The CGX geometry inserts cut brass, bronze and plastics better than they do aluminium.
This reminds me of high school machining.
What is the process tool selection..
Coolant is everywhere but on the cutting edge :P
you call that internall coolent supply it comes out of holes just in front of the cutting edge so it was on the cutting edge before you eaven saw it
Hulla Dek for the first video, the componants of the material they are working with has auto-lubrifucant in its chimic composition.

no

CNC super
what model is this, how much does it cost, and where can I get one either online or in business or store.
Why would you use 246 blocks to clamp on? Precision hold down power!
is it a SPINNER CNC??? or what brand is it, if it is a SPINNER so far how is the quality??
Do they melt down the excess metal shavings and recycle them, if not then do they just throw away perfectly good metal

Wow , impressive. How deep was the cut on the last clip .050 ? Like it was warm butter
Looks like at least twice that, in my opinion.
Very instering video and very funny
No c axis for hexagon? How!
The machine has a Y axis. Cut a flat using Y axis and index the spindle, repeat.

Is it a hydraulic fitting or a pneumatic fitting that you're making?
How is that considered dual turret when it is one turret working in positive and negative.
It’s not a dual turret. Just one.
something is wrong with the spindle sync.
This lathe does not have dual turrets. It has one turret that can work on either the main or sub spindle. That is not even close to the same as having dual turrets.

It looks like you forgot to add in variable spindle speed when facing and cutting the sock off.
Great video-why is everyone so negative-unhappy bastards -always thinking they are better than everyone elsel
whats the material of the cutting part?
Probably tungsten carbide. If not, hardened high carbon steel, but seeing as this is an industrial machine, I'll go with the first material.
You don't assume someone's background. I could pick this vid apart. I'm out rookies.
Dennis Jenkins shut up
I'm OUT ROOKIE.
your lathe has one turret not two
+Trebz This, and when the bar feeder was mentioned, it was most likely not even in use, more the sub spindle clamping/pulling the bar out.
+Alex Smith why would you have rear facing tools on the back of the main turret if you had a second turret. bs. what machine is this a puma 2000sy?
+Trebz Exactly haha, it's a bit silly.
+Alex Smith you do actually see something pushing the bar, after part off the groover that's hanging out the turret 5in dwells.
+Alex Smith It is probably the end of the program, and only for pushing a new bar in the machine. Sloppy programming a must say.
