I figured out how to auto logon. Start with Plasma Desktop then go to system settings/startup and shutdown, then behavior at the bottom of the screen. You can then choose which desktop to start in. I found that I can start in either Raspberry Pi desktop (x) or Plasma (x) and then switch between them by logging out then back in. Real VNC will work with both of those desktops but not with the desktops using Wayland.
Worked great to log into (x) I did get asked to put a blank password in my KDE wallet. But if I log out and select Mobile, I am asked for credentials to log in. Am I missing a step? Or only works with (x) versions?
This really shows off the power bump you get with the PI5. Silky smooth operation and nice and responsive. I’m still waiting for mine. I thought the Short video you made with the larger touch screen was pretty cool, makes me wish I had preordered 2 of them because it would make a nice little car-puter I can retro fit into my car. With its ability to support 2 cameras I could have a hacked together dash cam with one IR camera for night and a normal one for daytime. Another great video, keep them coming!
I love KDE! They make a lot of great stuff! Plasma is my favorite DE of all time! It has more controls than the star ship enterprise D! Tomorrow I have to hook up the food replicator to the main deflector dish. You know thanksgiving, mass quantities of food, guests n' all!🤪
if only the empty tablet shell and screen didn't cost more than an average android tablet. I both love and hate Raspberry because of this. For my plex server, an old thin client was cheaper, already came with drive, OS case, power plug and was fully windows compatible, and was 1/3rd the price of just a Pi 4 board.
... of the price being charged by scalpers for a brand new RPi4 board during the chips shortage caused by the global pandemic. Thanks for the links. I want to use it mainly as a wireless control panel for my projects, which will mostly be simple, like receiving data from a sensor and visualizing it in a graph or controlling the speed of an electric motor. For this purpose I might like the pi 4 better as it wouldn't reduce the battery life. On the other hand, when something came out that is 2-3x more powerful than the pi 4, which is almost the same price, it's a difficult decision, one would appreciate more smoothness. I already ordered pi 4, in the Czech Republic they don't have pi 5 in stock anyway. But the main reason why I took the 4 was that the tablet is designed for her, it's good that it fits into the tablet, but then I wouldn't be sure that she wouldn't run into a problem, e.g. insufficient energy supply. Also, the package includes accessories for the pi 4, like coolers and a fan, which don't fit the pi 5, right?
