That’s the ultimate win right there. I’ve been wanting to start of a Dark Angels army and buddy plans to beef up his salamanders. We’re just gonna paint the nids the same scheme to have a shared army to have to play as or lend out to friends.
That's true, but moving forward: you'll get *_BORED_* with Mono-posed Models fairly quickly, esp. once you realize you can *_MAGNETIZE_* Multi-part Kits & swap out Heads, Weapons+ between games.
@@margaretwood152 A comment I have heard through the ages by now. Do not buy monopose models. Why not? 1. They are cheaper than the multipose ones. 2. They come out months/years ahead of their multipose countereparts. 3. Some of them NEVER make it back into other kids, so it is now or never. 4. I buy this box once, so even compaired to the other 'more freely posable' models, once fitted together, they too become monopose. And next to each other, having 1 model of the monopose and maybe 2 of the multipose ones, I see ZERO problems with them. 5. As a huge fan of magnets, one other army of mine is Imperial Knights, I can tell you that magnets are more financialy viable the bigger the model gets. Yes to my baneblade becoming an octablade. No to Imperial Guards being individualy magnetised. In the end, all do their own thing, but for me, Every single pose sculpt once, or even twice at 2000 points ain't a problem. I disagree with your primary point; supposedly getting these models for equal discount in combat patrols. Yes, combat patrols are by themselves a discount and yes, they provide you with multipose and options, but a CP is 125 euro's, the Leviathan box is 200 Euro's. A CP has 10~18 models, the box has 25 (space marine) models. ánd Tyranids, ánd the book. If you equate the book to 40 euro's, that leaves 160 to divide between the two armies. That means that for 80 euro's, you're getting 25 models. Now, of course, quantity does not equal quality, so if you're willing to pay that extra dime, that's perfectly fine, but I'm just saying, a CP is not going to be a better deal than Leviathan. Even when considering that people might not want the flamers. You still have 15 useful models for 80 euro's. If you really hate monopose, either kitbash creatively, or don't get the box, but value wise, you just can't beat it. Apart from that, it's very likely that this will sell out again. I'll explain why. Scalpers will just create more accounts and they will keep creating more accounts until it's out of stock. And they will most likely do all of the creating accounts and buying sets of leviathan, completely automated, so there's literally no work in it for them. Why would they keep buying until GW runs out? Because that's the game. They will never! lose money, if the box stays sealed, it will hold its value, as long as stock is sold out, so they never lose money on the transaction and as long as it's mostly scalpers getting boxes, the box will still be in huge demand and drive prices up. Then, after a week or two of protest, GW will make these boxes on demand_for a limited amount of time_. The scalpers can just wait a year, until most stocks of the boxes have vanished and start selling them again. It's a game they can not lose, unless GW makes them on demand perpetually. Which is not going to happen. Edit: I just checked Indomitus prices and they do seem to have dropped, occasionally halfway, so perhaps my theory is incorrect and there is actually a point where scalpers no longer break even. Let's hope GW have breached that point to learn them a lesson.
Thanks for calming the FOMO a bit. I'm still planning to get in line for it because I'm all about Tyranids. I'm not 100% sure I'm going to get into playing 40k (I've not played since 3rd edition) even with the simplified rules because I don't have a lot of time or friends who are into it. But at the very least I would love to have the book for the artwork, the Tyranids to paint up, and even the Space Marines to chop up into a slaughterama. Can't have a great devourer without a great meal.
I personally am getting this box as I know that I like all the sculpts that I'll be getting and also I am splitting the box with a friend, It's gonna be really fun as we've already planned to periodically meet up to paint different squads together, so I know that we'll enjoy ourselves
Im getting back in the hobby after 8-9 years. Me and a friend are splitting 2 boxes. im getting the nids him the marines. I didn't have a huge collection to begin with back then but these will certainly give me more options to play the game with compared to the very limited army selection i had back in the day
Tbh, as a newbie to 40k, I thought I'd never want to bother with Tyranids considering how many models you'd need for a proper army, and how their organic shapes mean mouldlines would be a pain, but the new models in the Leviathan box kinda have me sold. That Neurotyrant in particular looks f**king awesome, and all of the other models look pretty damn good too. I have been building out a Dark Angels army out of the starter kits I bought a while ago, so most of the Space Marine options are pretty decent, as far as I can tell. The only issues might be kitbashing the Captain into Belial, and the Sternguard Veterans previously not being usable by Dark Angels, but the kitbashing would probably be less of a pain than working with the original Finecast Belial, and the Sternguard Vets can be proxied as Company Vets anyway if they don't get an update to be usable. The real question is what to do with the leftover Necrons from my Recruit and Command editions lol.
Originally I was all hyped for it, but the more time has passed, the more I'm kinda feeling 'meh' towards it. I'm really only after the terminators, the dread, and the Lieutenant (I really like the pose on him). Nothing else is really floating my boat, and like you I've got a mahoosive backlog that needs attending to.
Was kinda hoping for some more in depth reasoning behind getting the Tyranids or not, all of this seemed a bit too heavily focused on the boys in blue, which literally every godforsaken player on this dead planet already has loads of.
What tempts me to buy it is I hate Tyranids, but I know there are lots of Tyranid players out there desperate for new models so I should be able to quickly sell that half for a fair price.
Definitely want to get this box, the new marine sculpts will go well with my templars. And I'm happy too have an extra army on the side. I just hope that the pre orders go smoothly and we don't get another indomitus situation.
Already got mine pre ordered. Its a decent box set and it's a good for collecting. I'm going to sit on this until I'm extremely old and I can watch a new young person painting and making a video. That I'll be watching in the old folks home.
Thank you for allowing me to accept that I dont really need this set!!!!! And that because their monopose its better to wait for me for multi part kits of the select unit that I want.
The space marines for the set do come across as a bit of a mixed bag of units that don't all fit well together thematically. As someone with an Angels Sanguine First Company army, and a Deathwatch army, I should be able to split them quite well, with the veterans in the Angels Sanguine, the apothecary and Lt in the Deathwatch. The flamer marines I really don't like though, so they might end up being sold on like the nids.
For a long time i have admired the lore. But I have only just started this hobby within the month. Still learning. The roomatrle has shown some interest in the nids. She loves painting. We will see. I wasn't sold on it, I want to start a templar army. Like you said, it's not really fitting
Regardless, its a 72% discount ,bought mine for 160 euros. On that shop they sold 30 of them in 10 mins , glad i bought mine quick enough, cause they were sold out in the end.
Finding out they were all mono-pose push fit was a killer for me. I had push fit in my 2nd Ed starter, but they were doing good models in 3rd and 4th, so there's no reason why they can't do it. If I was going to pick it up, it would be because I wanted to combat patrol armies for cheap.
Great video. Love the pep talk. I am of the same mindset. The only models that I like are the Sternguard vets and termies, however, I collect BA and I would rather wait for the multi-part kits for the SG and termies. I also have a large amount of models to paint anyway so I will just wait.
Congrats on 1k subs! ... I bought the SM half and kind of regret it ... I was on the fence but just went ahead and got it ... should have waited for individual units to show up on ebay in a month or 2
As a Tyranid player I'm lukewarm to the box. Watching nids getting stomped by the marines in the inaugural battle reports isn't exactly warming me up, our new rules seem lame. Also the new models seem to have weak rules, which is a dealbreaker.
Being a *1st* _(is best)_ Legion player, I think I may just pass on this one........unless after looking at the (10+ hr ahead) Japan, Australia & New Zealand GW Sites & seeing the Box sell out in 10 Minutes or less (meaning it will be harder to acquire down the line for a reasonable price)

Yea i get why push fit made get some new kids parents buy it for him since he hasnt glued before but anyone who has done models before can see the giant ass seams on push fit is ugly as hell its better looking to remove the fits and glue it together
Wow, you just spelled out my exact opinion of this set. I think they're a bunch of reinforcements for your pile of shame. Personally, I'm building a successor chapter with a unique feel and the Sternguard are about the only thing that fits. This isn't Indomitus. The marines are much more generic. I don't play Tyranids and probably never will.
Good video covering both sides. Looking at the sprues, the Terminators , Sternguard and Dread will definitely get better standalone kits later, fire boys will be padding battleforces for years to come, Captain and Librarian are on their own sprues; so those are all safe for future releases.
