Hi can you do a video about dog breeder or how to choose a good breeder. I get really bad allergies and I have been looking for a labradoodle. I am down in Florida and I have called multiple shelters and I can’t find labradoodles. Therefore, I am in the process of looking for a good and responsible breeder.
@Natalie Wainwright hi thank u for replying and for the info. I will def do my research on those dogs, I always thought about the labradoodle because I live in an apartment and a small size will fit me best and the fact that a lot of people talk how although is no 100% hypo it is a good dog for people with allergies. The only thing that gets me anxious is finding a reputable breeder. Since I don’t personally know anyone who has gotten a dog from a breeder it makes it a little bit hard to find.
Finally, someone who actually knows about dog nutrition. I have been saying everything you are saying for DECADES! Thank you, thank you, for your knowledge and expertise, and not just with canine nutrition but human also. I’m so glad I stumbled across your channel last night. 😊
Can I feed whole meats with bone, such as chicken wings, neck bones, ox tail, etc? Not really wanting to spend the high cost of pre-formulated raw foods.
As much as I wish I had sent my dog to Brandon for training before bringing him home th-cam.com/users/postUgkx1_veP7CApJK_GWy_TczaMciuG64PqJeU I am so grateful for this down-to-earth, practical guide. His training techniques and tips really work. Thank you as well for dedicating your life's work to rescue dogs, and to rescuing those of us who want the very best for our 4-legged family members.
I truly feel like you should be a trainer I’m 20 and just now getting a dog and even though this video is 4 years old it’s STILL helpful you really do a great job of getting me to pay attention. A lot of people don’t care for pets and it’s so sweet to see how much you care😊
Absolutely obsessed with your channel! I have been binge watching all your videos for the last two weeks in preparation for my new fur baby that we are getting next Monday! I am beyond excited and I feel so well prepared thanks to your videos. Oh! And best news of all! I found a small local pet store that has all the things you mentioned in best food to feed your puppy! Bones and Co Raw food, dried, organs treats, goat milk, etc! Thank you so much for all you do, you made this first time fur mama feel like I can handle and adopt all the damn dogs lol
My last puppy, who lived to about 19, died from diabetic issues. It was horrible. I had him on insulin twice a day for a year and then he went downhill it was just terrible. I took care of him the last year of his life. Got him when he was about 7 as a severely abused rescue and worked with him for years to gain trust again.....he did a 180 and we had a great life together. I love rescue pets.
Getting a cavapoo in the next month or so. Always had cats but it's been a lifelong dream to have a pup. I've spent the last year considering it but didn't want to rush it until I knew our working from home would be permanent and we could give a pup the time and attention it needs. We've had it confirmed now, and we are going ahead with it after a full year of research and thinking. These videos are so valuable. I've always been worried about a dog having an indoor accident, but these videos have taught me that it's OK, we have wood floor, easily cleaned, we can keep an eye on the pup all day. As you say, if the pup has an accident, it's our own fault. I feel much better prepared.
Hi Rachel I’m getting a puppy on Thursday and your channel has helped a LOT, like a LOT thank you so much for all your videos this helped me a lot and it will help other first timers as well! I know you won’t see this but anyway just wanted to get it out!!! Love your channel and all your rescue dogs bye

Oh the alternating kibble and raw. That is a great tip! We will try that because out puppy isn’t liking the kibble and picks at it. She loves her freeze dried training treats though

Thanks Rachel, I have to say that we used this approach to feeding with our new 12 week old cocker spaniel puppy. We put him on raw fresh from day one and he is thriving. We also feed him by hand as cockers are food gobblers and it helps slow him down while eating. He has quickly learned to sit and stay calm while we feed him. Its helped to stop him biting our hands during play time too. Besides its been a lovely bonding experience with puppy too. Until what age shall we continue to hand feed him and when will he be ready to eat out the bowl on his own?
thank u so much for this info my dog will be a lot better off now me knowung more way more than i did so informative thank u very much excellent advice
hello Rachel , Your Puppy training Video's are really helping us at the moment because we are soon geting a puppy. It looks exactly like the one we are getting but way smaller!
By the way, can you do a video on what food to feed them if your mom says no wet or raw food? Thank you so much for making such informative videos! They are helping a lot! I have 4 pages of notes from just this video! Thanks again!
Your a awesome life savor! Thank you so much, I was at your stream! I’m getting my male, cream, golden doodle next month (if we like the dog from the litter) and I’m so excited! If you were not here I would do everything wrong!!!
Can’t believe you didn’t get an answer!! Probably too late now but for other people who are wondering. Socializing doesn’t necessarily mean being social. Just find a place with things that you want your dog to be socialized to and relax. Let them observe from a distance and reward them for sitting and/or laying down. Also find people who you know are responsible and set up puppy and dog play dates with them.
Hey hey! First off I am soooo thankful for your videos! I myself have just adopted a Goldendoodle puppy (8weeks) and She was given Puppy Chow by her breeders. When I got her I knew I wanted to give her better food but wasn’t told how (how to fade her out of the old food) and when i asked a worker in the pets store she informed me to keep her on what she is used to for a couple of weeks because soooo much in her life was changing.. what are your thoughts?
I just ran across your channel and this is very informative. I have a problem with the vets not being better with telling us what foods are good for the dogs. it seems they are telling us to give them food that is at the pet stores with too much garbage in the food.
This made chuckle, I ask my vet about foods and he handed me a bag, I told him this is diabetes in a bag. He did not respond well. I just wanted some solid advice, went out on my own. Found raw/natural and my older dogs trans formed before my eyes in a short time. Felt sick over their years on kibble, never again.🍀
The problem is soaring food prices. It’s getting so expensive to buy groceries now. I’d love to do raw but $250 a month is cost prohibitive . It’s very hard and very stressful .
I'm a massive raw feeding advocate so it's amazing to hear an influencer/youtuber/social media person say this too. My dog has so many allergies, it's really really helped him and I would never feed anything else now! 🥰
Just got my beabull pup today. I think he's still missing his family even though he's so close to us already cuz he's not eating everything in one sitting but I currently have the Nutro which Rachel and other dog youtubers said was good but I think I wanna do the raw diet. What and where did u buy yours for your dog?
@@ILLWill1027 I’m in the UK so it might be different depending on where you are, but I get my raw from my local natural pet shop, they stock lots of different brands of raw dog food and also natural dog treats + chews. So I would do a quick google search to see if you have any natural pet shops that stock raw near you, if not you could order online from a natural pet store. Hope this helps :)
Thank You Rachel! Love your stuff! ♥️ I have a new 7 week old German shepherd. What are your recommendations for food? Can I prep anything at home and freeze? Can I feed her things like liver?
I have a maltipoo and he is 17 weeks and I don’t really know what to feed him pebbles and mix with canned food but it seems that he doesn’t really like it or something because he threw up white foam , what would you recommend? Milk replacer?

Hi Rachel & friends!!! Thank you for empowering so many of us with puppy training :) We've had our 5 month old puppy, Bandit, for 3 months now and we've been hand feeding him raw food since day one (in addition to lick mats and a slow feeder with some kibble in the morning). Lately he seems to be less interested in hand feeding and working together during meal time, though he still responds to treats while training. Is this common with his age? Should we be doing anything different? Any tips or follow up would be much appreciated!!!
Hi, I know you feel that they need a high protein diet but curious how you feel about vegetables and fruits in their diets? Cause I make homemade dog food for my dog but only use 1 type of protein, 1 type of carb, and 2-3 types of vegetables.
well, variety is the key since different kinds of things contain different nutritions. You should feed at least 4 types of protein a month. The same goes for veggies, bones and organs. For example my dogs eats at least 6 types of proteins, 2 types of bones, 5 types of organs and 5 types of vegetables and fruits. We usually use meat - chicken, turkey, beef, venison, lamb, horse, rabbit, pork, salmon, quail, sardines, duck, etc.; bones - rabbit, chicken, turkey, duck; organs - hearts, livers, lungs, kidney, brains, green tripes (mostly from chicken, beef and lamb); vegetables and fruits (salad, carrot, cucumber, strawberry, blueberry, apple, kiwi, spinach, cabbage, brussels sprout, beetroot, celery, pumpkin and many others. Plus I sometimes add eggs, oils, seeds, seaweeds and so on.
I know this video is a bit old so I’m not sure this comment will be read! I have been feeding my dog with beef and veg for the past two years but I have been cooking it: I read about raw meat but there are vets saying dogs can get worms and illnesses from it and as dogs and humans have been living together for hundreds of years I thought it made sense that dogs eat closer to what we eat than to what wolves eat. Anyway she is a 20kg dog, I feed her 100g of beef, 150g of veg and 30g of potatoes twice a day. I also add some salmon oil to her meals every now and then for her joints and bones. I recently got a puppy and read I have to be careful to his diet because he is so young, but I refuse to buy him kibbles as I know they are most carbs, I wanted to check if there is anyone else here feeding their dog fresh food that is not raw please? No hatred towards Raw feeders, I just don’t feel comfortable doing it but I am not judging anyone as long as they feed their doggo ❤
make sure that if u get a dog thats going to be over 60 lbs get them large breed puppy food. It slows down their growing so they dont grow too fast. and It gives them extra protein. large breed puppy and regular puppy food is totally different!!! also I recommend salmon oil 2 squirts on their dog food. It helps their coat and digestive system
How would you discourage a 12 month old pup from chewing and eating leaves, weeds, sticks, etc from the garden. I switched to raw fresh food. Will this make her stop wanting the garden smorsgabord ?
Hi Rachel! Love your videos. They all are very helpful. Can you provide the link for the dog food & treats you highly recommend, if available? It may be just me but I can't seem to find your dog food links within your videos. Thanks!
Hi Rachel, we recently got a Pitbull Terrier puppy, Rosy, she is 10weeks old. I've so enjoyed your videos and learnt so much already! I have a question though, for day 2 home she ran away and back to the door every time we took her out to potty, the following day I then sat outside in that area while she relaxed, played and went to potty but now a few days later she doesn't seem to want to potty there and is going in an area where we don't want her to potty... Please help, or direct me to a video that will help. Thanks! Taryn
Hi Rachel your videos are so helpful thank you! I am getting my first puppy soon and I wanted to know what size crate to get. It is a Goldendoodle that will grow to be about 40 lbs. Should the crate be the size that will fit the dog in the future or to fit the puppy when it is small?
Hahahahaha😂😂😂 Like five seconds in talking about her “honest and sincere” best puppy food when a grossly overweight cat waddles behind her in the background. Sounds like a pet food expert 👌
Just wondering if it’s good or healthy for dogs/puppies to eat carrots, cucumber. Our last dog loved veggies, just wondering if it’s safe and good for them?
I am getting my golden retriever puppy in two weeks time and she will be almost 10 weeks old by then . Is it a good idea to give her crushed and blended chicken thighs with beef mince? How soon should I transit her from kibbles to the diet that you recommended here? I am also thinking about adding some coconut oil and egg to her diet, should I give her raw or cooked eggs? With or without shells? Sorry I have many questions
Hi Rachel! My dog is on a raw food diet, however he isn’t getting all the vitamins and nutrients he needs. What supplements would you recommend? What are your thoughts on Nutrical?
Hi Rachel! Is there a specific brand of bone broth or raw goats milk that you recommend when adding to your dog's meal? I saw that they make these items specifically for dogs ... do you recommend the dog brand or just the normal kind?
What would you recommend for a Great Dane puppy? Someone from a Great Dane rescue told me not to feed a high protein diet. She said less than 26% I believe? Because how big and fast their bones grow I believe
Hey Rachel! I am currently in university and feed my labradoodle kibble (blue buffalo), I know its not the best but its what i can afford. Do you have any recommendations for better quality kibbles that are not too pricey and you can get in Canada (specifically Ontario) and some food that I can add to his kibble that will be good for him. Thanks!
Hi Rachel! Thanks for the video. We’ve been feeding our new puppy nibble by hand, but he is totally not food motivated (at least not yet! It’s only day 5 with us at 14 weeks old.) He barely eats cuz all he wants to do is jump around and play of course haha. And When I try to put the food bowl down he won’t eat either. He is healthy. I’m afraid I’m doing it wrong
Many of the foods on your list include peas . Peas are bad because they cause DCM ( some say ) . My dog died of CHF after changing her diet to a food with peas in it . I’d scoured the ingredients and somehow missed the peas. She was elderly ( 16) . But the CHF started out of the blue a month after starting that food ( Fresh Pet ) . She was snubbing everything else though. Even steak . So I let her eat what she’d eat. 😢
She holds the food under her thumb and puts it in front of him. He tries to bite it out of her hand or paw it out of her hand, but she only releases it to him when he’s using only his tongue to take it from her.

Hi Rachel, we have a new 8 week old puppy he's only 2 kilograms, what diet do you recommend?
I will be getting an 8 week old puppy in a week. What do you recommend transitioning from kibble to raw?
Wally is so cute
Ikr 👌🏼
Hi love your videos
Would you tell me please were I can buy the food for my puppy? I have a standard poodle thank you 😊
Hey I love your videos and dogs and Wally looks so cute❤️❤️❤️
make sure that if u get a dog thats going to be over 60 lbs get them large breed puppy food. It slows down their growing so they dont grow too fast. and It gives them extra protein. large breed puppy and regular puppy food is totally different!!! also I recommend salmon oil 2 squirts on their dog food. It helps their coat and digestive system
Hi! My dog has irritable bowel disease and vet says it needs hydrolyzed protein - any suggestions to a fresh or raw diet that would work for my dog?
How would you discourage a 12 month old pup from chewing and eating leaves, weeds, sticks, etc from the garden. I switched to raw fresh food. Will this make her stop wanting the garden smorsgabord ?
Hi Rachel! Love your videos. They all are very helpful. Can you provide the link for the dog food & treats you highly recommend, if available? It may be just me but I can't seem to find your dog food links within your videos. Thanks!
RACHELL! I NEED YOUR HELP! How do I introduce my puppy to another dog?? (Sorry I’m late btw) ( ILY and your tips!)
I would like to know too. I have a 5 yr old poodle and I'm bringing home my havapoo pup in May. 😁
Hi,
I’m feeding my puppy raw food from stella and Cheney’s. Is this a good brand? I looked at the ingredients and so far they look good.
Stella & Chewey’s **^
Do you recommend using The Farmers Dog brand puppy food?
Thank you in advance
Do you recommend Martin's nature blend food raw?
Hi Rachel, we recently got a Pitbull Terrier puppy, Rosy, she is 10weeks old. I've so enjoyed your videos and learnt so much already! I have a question though, for day 2 home she ran away and back to the door every time we took her out to potty, the following day I then sat outside in that area while she relaxed, played and went to potty but now a few days later she doesn't seem to want to potty there and is going in an area where we don't want her to potty... Please help, or direct me to a video that will help. Thanks! Taryn
rachel, what is best toppers for kibble for litter of puppy’s -
Hi Rachel your videos are so helpful thank you! I am getting my first puppy soon and I wanted to know what size crate to get. It is a Goldendoodle that will grow to be about 40 lbs. Should the crate be the size that will fit the dog in the future or to fit the puppy when it is small?
Hello from Austin, Texas
Can u give examples? Isn’t kibble good for their gums and teeth ?
Hahahahaha😂😂😂
Like five seconds in talking about her “honest and sincere” best puppy food when a grossly overweight cat waddles behind her in the background.
Sounds like a pet food expert 👌
If its raw starting do you put supplements too ? Toy breed
Just wondering if it’s good or healthy for dogs/puppies to eat carrots, cucumber. Our last dog loved veggies, just wondering if it’s safe and good for them?
Hey Rachel!! First I just want to tell you that I LOVE your videos!! Well, anyway, could you please make a video on emotional support animals??
I’d personally look at the food as my dog’s are getting everything they need from their food!
Are there any supplemental foods you give that keep their teeth strong, like any hard crunchy foods or is the raw food patty enough?
Hi Rachel! Is there a specific brand of bone broth or raw goats milk that you recommend when adding to your dog's meal? I saw that they make these items specifically for dogs ... do you recommend the dog brand or just the normal kind?
I’m also wondering this, especially since most store bought bone broth that I use for myself is high in sodium.
Where can we buy that raw food ? Any special store you recommend?
What would you recommend for a Great Dane puppy? Someone from a Great Dane rescue told me not to feed a high protein diet. She said less than 26% I believe? Because how big and fast their bones grow I believe
Thank you for your videos! I got a puppy, and while I did my research, your videos have Immensely helped ❣️
Thanks!
Open Farm pet food - based in Ontario too! Hope this helps :)
@@Njvcstlo Thanks! looks like a good food! Super helpful!
My weepup eats lots royal kane and he was 8 weeks lives it
I will be getting a labradoodle puppy on April 18! He is so cute and will be 6 weeks old when I get him! PRAY FOR MY LONG HOURS OF WALKING!!!!
can you show more of how u actually feed him. you said you have him work for it, how do u do that?
She holds the food under her thumb and puts it in front of him. He tries to bite it out of her hand or paw it out of her hand, but she only releases it to him when he’s using only his tongue to take it from her.
How do you get your dog food mashed so good?
