For a decade now, i get people tell me im so wrong for feeding my dogs only once a day (and making their own food instead of buying regular dog food). Well My dogs are much older then everyone elses, and all super healthy and active. My sister, my friend, my ex all got the same breed actually the dogs are siblings 3 years apart. They are all obese, skin issues, missing teeth, while my dogs are living their best life.
That's how we approach ours. I appreciate that dog breeds have evolved differently based on their relationship with humans but the fact of the matter is that they'd be lucky to eat everyday and if they did, it would be scavenged bits and bats here and there. In reality they'd probably get one hearty meal every 2 or 3 days. That's what their bodies are designed to tolerate/expect
Well most people don't give the amount of dog food it says,my dog food has nutrients for coat and skin, and the teetch, only thing I could think of is hard food is hard on teeth,u could mix canned dog food into the dry food
My pittie girl lived to 15-1/2 and would have made it another two if she hadn’t gotten osteosarcoma. I cooked her meals like this every evening since shortly after I adopted her because of her profound allergies. It only took 30 minutes and I’d talk to her while she watched me work.
About a month or so ago, I was having many issues with my frenchie. She was not eating her two meals a day. Vomiting was something kind "normal" for her. We already fed her natural food (not raw) since she was a puppy (she is now 5 years). She also has IBD. After watching this video I tried 1 meal a day and oh my god what a difference it has been in her life. Yes, the first day she barfed but that was it. Second day was life as usual. She is more energetic than ever and is eating every little drop of food she can find. Thank you so much for sharing this! I really appreciate. Cheers from Brazil!
That's wonderful news! I'm so glad to hear that the change to one meal a day has made such a positive difference for your dog. Thanks for sharing your success, and cheers!
We were meant to hunt and gather (eating a few of those throughout the day. Like 5 berries and a couple nuts haha. Then eat dinner with the family around the fire at dinner. We didn’t start eating 3 meals a day until civilizations started
I was advised by a Zoologist that you should feed your dog as much as they will eat in a 20 minute time period once a day. I’ve used that method for over 20 years and all of my GSDs have lived over 12 years except one who fell to a hemangio sarcoma.
You need to let their insulin levels drop to normal. Just because they are not obese, they can still have hyperinsulinemia which leads to type 2 diabetes.
@@thedognutritionistI would like to ask what do you think the main cause of dog itching, red on fire ears, paw chewing, sinus, reverse sneezing, allergies, etc is down to? I'm convinced its food. Thank you SO much for this life extending advice!!! My dogs are worlds healthier eating one meal a day! My Pomeranian is 18 yrs old and has only just recently started to slow down a bit, otherwise she has zero health problems and the energy of a puppy! Thanks again🙏🏽
My Cockapoo cleans his plate of raw food every morning. He was 2 last week. He has 125grams first thing, he's so excited when its breakfast time. Then we go for a run over the fields, he has another 125 grams when we get home. That's his main meal of the day. During the wintertime when he was getting less exercise he was putting on more weight rather than staying stable, so I cut him back to one plate of 125gram and reduced the amount of training treats he receives. He soon returned to his 11.6 kilo's and with the weather improved somewhat he is getting more exercise again. People forget that treats are for training purposes. I often see overweight dogs and they're usually dogs that are fed kibble and never go for a run off of the lead. My dog loves to run off the lead that is the best treat of the day for him. Our bodies weren't made to eat processed foods and nor were our dogs.
Believe it or not, my dog CHOSE to eat one meal a day. I used to always give her breakfast and dinner but she would never touch her breakfast and just gobble down her dinner. So now, I simply give her a raw meaty bone/frozen stuffed trachea around 11am and some enrichment game with treats at 2pm, then feed her daily allowance at 7:30pm. Not only has she been eager to eat again, she is also thriving with this diet - no more turning her nose up on food, no more refusing to eat.
I realized I was over feeding my dog and have been trying to figure out how much she needs. I am now giving 1/4 cup of high quality kibble daily, with a cartilage chew… I’m hoping this makes a difference with time!
oh! well i'm not an idiot then because both my dogs only want to eat once a day at night so I've just gone with that but my vet told me it was wrong and told me to feed them twice a day which my dogs actually don't want. They both want to eat last thing about 7-8pm. I was told it's bad for them to eat so late but they don't want food until that time. I'm feeling that the advice my vet gives always goes against what my dogs actually want to do naturally. And yes, they both hate kibble which is also what my vet advised so that's why I'm here because I am so confused about what the heck I'm supposed to feed my dog at this point and when I should do it.
I agree but it’s not for my chihuahua puppy. I don’t overfeed him, I calculate his food weight precisely. But if I don’t feed him 3 times a day he starts shaking because his sugar drops. He’s 19 weeks old. I will feed him twice a day later in life but not sure about 1 time… We’ll see.
At that age and weight I would carry on feeding him has you are, he's still a young puppy and in the first year you are building up their immune system and gut microbiome.
I just put my 17 year old Chihuahua to sleep last week. For her last year she was on a strict hospital diet of hydrolyzed chicken livers and pea protein; very low fat. I fed her every 3-4 hours, as she ate very small meals, and would vomit stomach acid if left without food too long. So I was getting up twice a night to feed her as well. You do what the dog needs, and learn to take your cues from their behavior. Good luck with your puppy - I hope you have many happy years together.
You are doing the right thing. His advice is for bigger dogs, this is why I do not like general advice like this, as this depends on the breed. I have a toy poodle and will not advise one meal daily for a toy breed like your dog, as the risk of hypoglycemia is high. My dog also self-regulates which is common among poodles, he will eat what he needs and leave the rest, some days he finishes his food other days He does not.
@@kimdawcatgirldid you watch the video? He said to 3 months then switch to twice a day. She said her puppy is 19 weeks and the puppies sugar drops. But you missed that part. Too busy being a smart mouth
What brand dry and wet/raw food would you recommend please? My pup is coming up 14 weeks and really want to make sure he is eating the best i can provide him. Thanks
I wish measurements were in cups, etc. Here in the states we don't use the metric system. Yes, I can look them up, but itnwould be so much easier if they were already included. Thanks.
But there are different sized cups....so it makes no sense as it's so imprecise. It's easier to use OZ's or grams because these are pretty standardised methods of weight measurement that guarantee consistency. There's never any mention of what size cup to use in american instructions....it leaves us brits confused.
Whenever works for you and of course your dog. Generally after the morning walk if once a day (take treats) and if you're using two meals a day in the 6hr feeding window, whenever you think is best! Just try to get the food in the feeding window as often as possible, but it's not strict, just something to aim for.
I feed 2x daily I split one meal into 2, so he gets 1/2 a cup am/pm and it's homemade. 11 yo cocker with a gr8 definition and not overweight..8-10 hours apart
@pattyberes6072 Omg, Wooby would, too! And this year's fall back time change has turned him into someone idk lolol!! Like it's food o'clock somewhere 😆🙃😉
How big is your guy? I’m having to cut back on my dog’s food. She came in at 35 lbs and I’m sure she’s gained some in the last 8 months. I was giving her 2 cups PLUS but then cut back since December. Now it’s down to a cup a day, but I feel she’s still chunky, though she does have some waist definition her weight is mostly in the chest and shoulders. Her back legs are all muscle.
What size cup do you use....we have many sizes in our house with the largest being probably twice the capacity of the smalles....it makes no sense because of this huge difference...
My girl Is fed one meal a day… and I gently cook all her food which includes human grade meats, carrots, broccoli, and brown rice. She is the picture of health…👍🏽

I am fortunate to live in the country and have access to free food, in the form of deer getting freshly hit on the road and providing a great source of natural food for my Dogo Argentino and my Frenchie. Plus my cats join in on the carcass. When I don't have deer, I get liver, beef and chicken gizzard from the grocer , plus I add one of my own chickens eggs each every day for vitamins and minerals. Plus they get the deer bones to chew, even when they get kinda gross, which keeps their gut biome healthy. They eat this as scavengers in the wild. They are healthy and happy!
The thing is not every canine has lived in the wild I own a pug cross jack Russel and he wouldn’t survive in the wild He is 6 months old and he is very healthy he always gets compliments on his shiny coat and overall condition He is fed twice per day but high quality food by a excellent company The thing is not everyone can manage a raw diet or have the facilities to do so I myself are disabled so therefore I’m unable to do this My dog also goes to the vet every 2 months and he always get compliments Chihuahuas also which I have also owned in the last I used to feed him 3 times per day just to make sure he wasn’t just full but also his blood sugars didn’t drop and he had the energy to grow and fight of any infections he was only 3kgs when he was older he only reached 4 kgs
Hey! I love your channel, could you include scientific evidence to the recommendations you're doing? for example reasons you explained to feed adult dogs once a day, and so on. The explanations make sense, but still, having scientific evidence to why these reasons are valid is really important.
My dog suffering from IBD and acid reflux has 3 meals per day (8am, 1 pm and 6 pm). He is very skinny and we can't manage to gain weight. Do you think your approach is suitable for him?
I tried 1, 2, 3 and 4 meals. My senior with GI i.e chronic pancreas problems thrives best on 4 small meals a day. 1,2 and 3 all yielded bouts of diarrhea every couple of weeks. Been on this journey for 12 months now
Hi there, please can my digestion recipe ebook and nutrition plan. Generic foods don't work for every dog, you need to work out a simple but specific diet that's right for them. The guide will help you do this.
@thedognutritionist627 I’ve been cooking home made whole foods for 9 months now. I like your informative channel! Props. But what about an 11.5 year old senior with chronic gut issues and sensitivities even when cooking fresh whole foods. 60-70% pro 25% veg +/- 5-8% carb ( quinoa, buckwheat)
I recently adopted a rescue and it breaks my heart to think that she has to wait 24h for her next meal. I divide her daily portion for breakfast and the other one for dinner. She sleeps all day while I’m at work so she doesn’t exercises enough to give her 1 full meal in the morning. Should I switch to a full PM meal?
It depends on their age, while their puppies they eat twice has much as they do when they adults. How much is worked out on their body weight. When I started my dog on Benyfitnatural raw food they gave us a chart on how much at what size and age. Most raw food companies put a chart on their websites.

I understand the importance of fasting. I myself work that way... My dog eats twice a day and I am concerned about a fast as he is a VERY active dog. How do I make sure he gets enough food on fasting days and how do I get him over the obsession of wanting his meal?
Hi, as much i appreciate the information you put across. Everything you say makes complete sense. What if you have a reactive dog that you are in the process of training? For example, my dog is reactive and we switched from raw to cold press as its difficult to train with raw, not only this but the one meal a day goes out the window here as i am just feeding his meal throughout the day to positively reinforce the behaviours I want. I think what im trying to ask is if not feeding raw, is there any other kibble/cold pressed or freeze dried youd recommend? Also, is it so detrimental that they must have the one meal a day all at once? Surely trickling throughout the day to positively reinforce behaviours isnt a bad thing? I look forward to your response, I want the best for my dog and appreciate that is what you are trying to provide people with.
The problem using food to train is the constant feeding keeps spiking insulin which causes hyperinsulinemia, which leads to the desensitization of the cells to glucose, which leads to type 2 diabetes. I train without treats, by just using praise as a reward. If you are being a good leader, they want to please you, and praise is great confirmation that they are doing just that. Alpha dog doesn't give treats to his subordinates. You get a place in the pack and a good relationship in return.
Do you need treats to train? Praise and being told good boy/girl in a calm voice works wonders. I train with as little treats as possible, rewarding a dog doesn’t have to be a treat, a favorite toy or simple praise usually does 😊
My 6.5 year old Labrador and I walk/run 5k every day and never considered when to feed him in relation to his exercise??? Would you recommend feeding before or after his run?
Hi there! I feed my dog in the morning after her morning walk. This way she's not hungry during the day, only when she's asleep and on the walk. Hope this helps!
Hi, I have a small mixed breed Maltipoo dog (going to be 2 yrs old next month) who's not a big fan eating in the morning. She used to, though. I had to put down and pick up her food bowl and try to give it to her again at 10am. Still, she either eats them a little bit or not at all. She has GI issues (would vomit the white foam if her tummy's empty too long and too often). So I'd give her a small treat at noon. But in the evening between 6.30pm - 7pm, she would finish eating her normal meal. So my question, is it ok if she eats once a day and what time should I be feeding her if it is ok for her to have one meal a day. Other than her being picky eater (yup, guilty. she trained me good *sigh*)..and also her common GI issued, she's a healthy, playful, active dog. I'm so used to feeding her twice a day..so I do get stressed if she doesn't eat the first meal in the morning which I normally give her between 8-9am.
Hi Cam. Loving your TH-cam channel and nutrition guide. I’m a little confused about your recommendation of once a day feeding. You say that’s the best way to feed a dog, but you also say about eating their daily intake in a 6 hours window. And you nutrition guide shows recipes for a breakfast meal. So when you say ‘once’ a day, do you mean they can eat more than one meal as long as it’s in that 6 hour window? So a small breakfast and main meal later?
Both! Ideally one meal per day, but you can do two within a 6hr window. Either breakfast and lunch OR lunch and dinner if two meals. Try to do one meal a day at least a few times per week.
Hi, my 9 year old border collie has just been diagnosed with pancreatitis a month ago. I was told to give him 3-4 smaller meals per day. He’s only had the one acute attack and now he seems fine. Should I try to get him back to once a day feeding? He was previously on grain free kibble but I am now home cooking for him.
conventional vets prescribe medicine to be taken twice a day usually 12 hours apart. what should I do if I wanna implement one meal a day for a dog who takes medicine twice a day? thanks in advance X
Quick question. I was told by several people that deep or barrel chested dogs should be fed 2 smaller meals a day, so to reduce the risk of GDV. Any truth to this? I have a lurcher & i do worry about increasing the chances of this happening if i only fed him once a day.
But what about dogs who tend to vomit out of hunger? One of my dogs tends to do this if I don't feed his dinner at the proper time, won't it be worse to have him vomiting all the time because he's too hungry? my 3 dogs eat a homecooked meal twice a day and none of them are overweight.
One question - we're constantly told that we shouldn't give our dogs chicken bones - do you agree and if so what other kind of meat bones would you recommend?
Does this apply to a 6# chihuahua? I’ve been told that small dogs tend to get hypoglycemic and need more frequent meals - is this not true? Also, with such a small stomach I am worried my chi shouldn’t or wouldn’t be able to eat 1 large meal a day (?). Thanks
Hello! Yes, small dogs can be prone to hypoglycemia and often do better with multiple small meals throughout the day. However, with proper training and monitoring, feeding 2 meals per day can also work well and help maintain stable blood sugar levels.
Crazy you just described my own intermittent fasting routine amd i do it for the same reasons. I only eat within a 6 hr window each day for 2 years now and ive never felt better. Getting my bernedoodle tuesday. Thanks for this info.
hi the only thing that I’m worried about when feeding once a day is GDV since I have samoyed which is prone to bloating compared to most breeds should I stick with twice a day? He eats kibble with ground beef and broccoli
I tried feeding my dog once a day (raw food) and he had suffered really badly with vomiting bile in the morning. He now eats twice a day and doesn't suffer with it 🤷🏼♀️
It's definitely a process, and it's great to hear that feeding your dog twice a day has helped! Every dog is different, and it sounds like you found the right balance for your furry friend. That's good to know!
I make Vet designed human grade homemade meals for my dog, fir the same reason I make my OWN meals: I want to know what we are eating! Dogs are obese because of DRY DOG FOOD. It would be like eating McDonalds EVERY MEAL EVERY DAY!
My 9 months old golden has been refusing to eat but once a day, vet checked hes perfectly healthy, but im afraid hes still too young to be eating only once a day sometimes 2
is this rule apply to puppy? i feed 3 times a day for puppy of near 6month, my concern is will they reach their full potential if i feed less frequent? and will they be healthy at puppy stage since its the stage they are often hungry and growing fast
Do these recommendations apply to small breeds (less than 10lb)? We have a 6 month old Pomeranian (7.6lb) who we are currently switching to 2 meals a day (from 3 meals a day) accordingly general recommendations. But I constantly come across information that Pomeranians need 3 meals a day plus several dry snacks... 😅
I have an 8 year old 6lb Yorkie who is on 3 meals a day. Feeding her once per day, I believe, would be feeding too much at one time. I tried twice per day once and she would vomit it back up because of the amount of food she had to consume at once. I recently transitioned her off of Hill's prescription that she has been on for two years, so I might try twice a day with this new food. I'm still experimenting with her new food to get the right amount to maintain her current weight but right now she gets 6 tables spoons of her food plus 2 ounces of protein per day. If she would eat all of this at one setting I feel her tiny stomach couldn't hold this much? I also add 4-6 teaspoons of warm water to each feeding since she is not a big water drinker. She has had problems in the past of being dehydrated but since I have been adding water to her food, she stays hydrated. So if she would eat all of this at once, she would be eating the 6 tablespoons of food, plus 2 ounces of protein, and 18 ounces of water. @@thedognutritionist

I have 4 dogs but my lab, he's really big. I started making homemade foods for them but he's losing a lot of weight competing to my other fur babies. I do give him a lot more than the other ones, what could that be? Are they missing any nutrients from their diet?
Diet and times have to be different for different breeds and different dogs . It has to be individualized just like for humans. I don’t think it’s appropriate to feed my Shih Tzu once a day because he can become hypoglycemic and dehydrated.
Yeah well the more research I do the more confused I am. Some vet say 2 meals, some say 3... One animal hospital put on their website this "If more than 12 hours elapses between meals, the stomach can become hyperacidic causing nausea." Here I hear 16 hours between meals.???
They know nothing. Think of intermittent fasting for humans... It's the healthiest and most natural way to eat. Food abundance is a new phenomena, and over eating (quantity and frequency) causes stress on the gut.
My dog eats once a day as an adult dog, he’s raw fed and he naturally went to one meal as day as he grow. He’s very healthy, super active and he never suffers upset tummy’s. Some days he’ll just have a meaty bone and he’s more than happy. Vets aren’t interested in your dog being healthy. Doesn’t make them money.
@@thedognutritionistWell 😥 if my dog passes that many hours without food, he'll vomit, he does that even if I get a delay of 1 or 2 hours with his dinner.
So what about large dog breads like the Great Dane that are susceptible to GDV (bloat). It is advised NOT to feed one large meal a day to these breeds as it can be detrimental to their health and contribute to GDV. It is advised to split their meals into smaller portions. If you give your dog 600g of food a day split over 3 meals instead of one this will not make your dog obese. They are still only eating the same calories and nutrition just split up. The only thing that will cause obesity it overfeeding and lack of exercise. I have always fed my adult dogs smaller meals either 2 or 3 times a day. Never once had an obese dog. Are you going to start telling people to go back to their caveman diets and way of eating because its more natural? Most dog breeds today have never lived in the wild, for example the Chihuahua, French bulldog or a Pug wouldn't last 5 minutes in the wild. You're basing your evidence on a time when most modern domesticated dogs weren't even around.
They are still dogs. And my French bulldog who eats once a day and a proper canine raw meat diet, would do fine in the wild. It's easier to fix dogs than it is people.
@@kimdawcatgirl Your french bulldog wouldn't last a week in the proper wild. I'd like to see a french bulldog hunt for it's own food. Stop talking nonsense.
@@david5667 My French bulldog would. It isn't some misshapen helpless, clothes wearing blob who can't breath. @@kimdawcatgirl Sorry to upset you but little Jimmy wouldn't last 5 minutes in the true wild, like in the African savanna. He'd become the prey for the truely wild dogs. Little Jimmy wouldn't even last a day with me and my dogs on one of my all day mountain hikes. I'd probably have to carry him half the way. 🤣
@@david5667 He keeps up very well with my Dogo Argentino. And, with conditioning, he would do great in the mountains. We just don't have any in West Michigan. And, I doubt any dog would survive long in the true wild you describe, but he'd last longer than most. Not only is he athletic with a great prey drive, he knows when to submit to a more dominant dog. Of course, a hungry wild animal is a danger to any domestic breed, so using that as an example is irrelevant. Even my Cane Corso, when she was alive, would be toast in Africa.
The proof is in changing the diet to raw food following his recommendations as I did and seeing the difference in your dog in terms of energy health and fantastic coat.
I’ve consulted several vets out of curiosity, because I was considering that for my dog. They all said the same thing: there is no scientific proof that raw diets work.
@jswords1977 vets are not trained in nutrition. They only know medicines. Do your research further than talking to a couple vets. My vet would argue that what I fed my dog was better than anything he could give. I paid for a canine nutritionist to advise a prescribed diet. It was life or death for my dog. Thankfully it worked.
@@jswords1977of course, they make money selling medicine and sensitive foods. My dog had problems with ear infections and had every antibiotic there is nothing helped but going raw…
Our dogs have an extremely ravenous appitite. Wants to eat the entire day but we only give them 1 solid meal a day but that's not enough for them. They always following you around for possible treats. They think they can manipulate us to give more food & deworming doesn't even helps. I think they're just plain greedy They always looks miserable as if they are starving & it actually frustrates me to a point.
I am not an idiot 🤯,or I hope not but following the instructions of food quantity baffles me,,,every time there is a food advert on tv and guys like this one show a large full dish wether it be kibble or tinned , raw not as much .I have two border collies and yes they are a tad overweight but the amount of food shown in this feature would feed one of my dogs for a week compared to the amount recommended on the pack
Some of this makes a lot of sense, and some of it just sounds like a good way to create a confused, neurotic dog that eats furniture. 🙄I see the very same thing in the horse world - that is, people so hung up on being "natural" that they've forgotten that horses and people have to live real, functional lives together, right here in the modern world.

Thank you SO much for this life extending advice!!! My dogs are worlds healthier eating one meal a day! My Pomeranian is 18 yrs old and has only just recently started to slow down a bit, otherwise she has zero health problems and the energy of a puppy! Thanks again🙏🏽
You're welcome! I'm thrilled to hear how well your dogs are doing!
Our bodies weren't made to eat processed foods and nor were our dogs.
one of worst breed of dog lol
Thank you! Finally some good, logical advice.
You're the best bro!!!! This is so right.. I knew something was off when people feed 3 times a day.
Sounds about right!
Brilliant video, thank you.
Thanks for your clarification.
I myself eat once a day and feel AMAZING 🎉🎉
That's awesome! It really works, right?
Excellent video.
Thank you
yeah, i think eating the most in the morning, and a small meal at 6 or 7 is just fine for a dog
I didn't know Jake Paul and Logan Paul had a big brother.
LOVED this video. Thank you!
Did you even watch the video? He specifically says to feed 3 times a day as little pups.

But there are different sized cups....so it makes no sense as it's so imprecise. It's easier to use OZ's or grams because these are pretty standardised methods of weight measurement that guarantee consistency. There's never any mention of what size cup to use in american instructions....it leaves us brits confused.

Hey there! Please email me at help@thedognutritionist.com
What time would you recommend feeding them? Or does that depend on the lifestyle etc. of the dog
I do the same. She would drive me crazy if I didn't feed her two smaller meals as opposed to one bigger one.

Yes sounds like best diet!!
The thing is not every canine has lived in the wild I own a pug cross jack Russel and he wouldn’t survive in the wild
He is 6 months old and he is very healthy he always gets compliments on his shiny coat and overall condition
He is fed twice per day but high quality food by a excellent company
The thing is not everyone can manage a raw diet or have the facilities to do so
I myself are disabled so therefore I’m unable to do this
My dog also goes to the vet every 2 months and he always get compliments
Chihuahuas also which I have also owned in the last I used to feed him 3 times per day just to make sure he wasn’t just full but also his blood sugars didn’t drop and he had the energy to grow and fight of any infections he was only 3kgs when he was older he only reached 4 kgs

Hey! I love your channel, could you include scientific evidence to the recommendations you're doing? for example reasons you explained to feed adult dogs once a day, and so on.
The explanations make sense, but still, having scientific evidence to why these reasons are valid is really important.
Very useful information, may I ask if cats would be different? Cats like to eat small amount of food every few hours?
Cats like to eat at the same time everyday. I feed mine crunchies in the morning and soft wet food in the evening but always at the same time.

What about lap dogs (shih tzu)? How much food should they have since they are not working dogs or outdoor dogs?
It depends on their age, while their puppies they eat twice has much as they do when they adults. How much is worked out on their body weight. When I started my dog on Benyfitnatural raw food they gave us a chart on how much at what size and age. Most raw food companies put a chart on their websites.

He'll get used to the change of routine, all dogs do. Feed him more after the fast.
@@thedognutritionist Thanks Cam. Do treats also have to be in the 6 hour window, or is the odd treat ok at anytime?

Hi, my 9 year old border collie has just been diagnosed with pancreatitis a month ago. I was told to give him 3-4 smaller meals per day. He’s only had the one acute attack and now he seems fine. What time do you suggest is best to feed them their 1 meal 🙏🏼
I feed my dog in the morning after her morning walk. You might want to try it for your dog.
Quick question. I was told by several people that deep or barrel chested dogs should be fed 2 smaller meals a day, so to reduce the risk of GDV. Any truth to this? I have a lurcher & i do worry about increasing the chances of this happening if i only fed him once a day.
My general rule is to feed dogs one to two times daily, depending on their needs.

Organ meat is really good for them.
hi the only thing that I’m worried about when feeding once a day is GDV since I have samoyed which is prone to bloating compared to most breeds should I stick with twice a day? He eats kibble with ground beef and broccoli
Hello! Definitely, you can continue feeding your dog twice a day.
So say the kibble I give my dog says 3cups/day. Do I give him the whole 3 cups at once? That seems like a lot in one sitting to me. What say you?

@@thedognutritionist thank you so much! 🙏

What do you make? Do you add any carbs? Organ meats like liver?
How many ounces for a 12 lb dog daily ?
Diet and times have to be different for different breeds and different dogs . It has to be individualized just like for humans. I don’t think it’s appropriate to feed my Shih Tzu once a day because he can become hypoglycemic and dehydrated.
I v allway feed once a day,
They would eat once a day in the wild maybe 🤔
So I stick with it
Yeah well the more research I do the more confused I am.
He is an athletic, healthy French bulldog who lives on a farm and can run as fast as I can peddle my bike beside me. Can splash through the water area in the cornfield, carrying his deer leg piece. A true Frenchie! Not some pathetic, overbred designer Frenchie. Dogs are limited by their weak leaders. Strong leaders have strong pack members. Jimmy has a strong prey drive. I can't even let him be by my peeps. He would survive perfectly.
Doesn't it depend on how much exercise an adult dog gets?
exercise is just one key to keep a dog in shape, but proper dog food is essential (raw diet)
I thought smaller dogs needed 2 meals a day 😂 ive got it wrong for 7 years!
Hello.. why do my dogs keep on eating their poop??
Yeah raw feeding here once every 3 days
I thought it was 10 to 12 hours for a dog stomach to digest not 16?
You state a lot of opinions as fact. Do you have any proof for the claims in your videos?
My dog had problems with ear infections and had every antibiotic there is nothing helped but going raw…
how to connect with you?

They always looks miserable as if they are starving & it actually frustrates me to a point.
So what about, a pregnant dog, and a nursing dog
Hi! Both should have two meals per day.
what kibbles do you feed your dog ?
he makes his animals food

What about a chihuahua with hypoglycemia? Is one meal a day enough for her?
No!! They need to eat at least 3 times per day to keep healthy
