What sets the Crosshair VIII Hero apart from the other strix boards in the X570 line-up is that the Hero uses the SupremeFX S1220 Codec + ESS ES9023P HD-DAC whilst the other boards only use the S1220A Codec and features no DAC. So if you care about audio quality on your board you still might want to give the VIII Hero a second thought
Crosshair VIII Hero has 8 layer PCB instead of 6 Layer PCB, 7+1 phase VRM instead of a 4+2, 60 Amp power stages from international rectifier instead of 50 Amp power stages from Intersil. With Crosshair VIII Hero you also get Clear CMOS, Bios Flashback, Safe boot button, ReTry button, Start Button, Reset button, LN2 mode, Slow Mode, a 3rd Chassis Fan connector, a H_AMP fan connector, W IN header, W OUT header, W FLOW header, Speaker connector and the ASUS Q-Connector. Also, the Strix series only has Optimem whereas the Crosshair VIII Hero Has Optimem III Although I'm not really sure there is a difference there or what the difference is or if Optimem is just a marketing gimmick in and of itself. I'd be curious to see some testing of that. Oh yeah and to top all that off above before I forget most important of all with the Strix: Note *1 PCIeX16_3 slot shares bandwidth with PCIeX1_2. *2 Due to limitations in HDA bandwidth, 32-Bit/192kHz is not supported for 8-Channel audio. You already sold me on the MSI MEG X570 UNIFY for one build, so I'd like your opinion for another. It's between this MB and the Aorus Master x570. Thanks for the vids.
Hi Laurent quick question, in your opinion is it better to build an intel or amd based PC for gaming? I was dead set to build a i9-9900k last week before I learnt that gen 10 has come. However seeing that the motherboard has changed and the processor is still newly released with no stock everywhere, I am starting to look at Ryzen 3900x. Based on review on gaming performance, it performs almost on par with 9900k and even 10900k. Also seeing that the technology is more advance (more cores), I feel like I am getting my money worth. Also from reasearch, motherboard X570 will be compatible with next gen ryzen. Maybe I'm thinking this too far and over "future proofing" before the big purchase. Thanks for the video btw, I have watched almost all your motherboard reviews. They're very detailed and I like the presentations.
I don't quite agree with the conclusion. I think the difference in I/O and Diagnostic QLED makes up for the difference in price. Being a musician with lots of devices I usually have every USB port populated in my systems typically so the extra ports add functionality I'll actually use in lieu of display ports that I'll never touch. So I would say this is a great entry point for enthusiasts and the strix is the highest point for the general gamer who just needs keyboard, mouse and capture card.

That's crazy, it's only a $25 difference here but another thing that is different that he didn't mention is the chipset cooling. The X570 chipset gets VERY hot in any motherboard and I beleave the Strix E uses Passive cooling while the Hero uses Active cooling. Heat will cause the chip to throttle down which will cause everything else connected to slow down and also greatly reduce the life of the chipset as a lot of people have complained about.

I did not go too much in details (eventhough I recorded a dialogue).
I was affraid it would too specific for many of the viewers.
Though it will be detailed in the blog version of the video :)
@@Laurentschoice ok. Tnx any way
Ur welcome :) one last thing , they are 60 amps power stages :)
Important to mention
@@Laurentschoice yeah 60a is rly strong. Overkill even for ln2 i think
This mobo doesnt have displayport right? No info on the net
correct, you must put your own graphics card in
SATA 4.0 ... Now that's funny! :) If they ever get past that bottleneck they won't be able to call it SATA anymore and keep a strait face.
which SMPS(Power supply) unit suitable for this mother board....
It really depends of you GPU. But In general if you are going for a Maximus board , then a 600 watt is the norm !
Seasonic makes Extremely high-quality power supplies with 7, 10, and even 12-year warranties depending on the power supply you choose and they have a tool on their site to calculate which power supply you would want or need they are not the only power supply manufacturer who have this tool. Whatever you do never buy a power supply refurbished as you will likely only get a 1 year warranty.

Good advice. Thanks
Would help with chipset model in title
Can this mother support 2 monitor...?? Im curious
Any video card will support at least 4 monitors
Did u mean with integrated graphics?
@@Laurentschoice I don't know, im newbie I just want to make sure this motherboard can let me have 2 monitor...
thank you sir for your awesome video
You forgot to mention the second m.2 slot below the CPU :).
Yep... I know :)
Had a mention on the description .
Absolutely sorry about that :)
@@Laurentschoice Aucun problème.
Another detailed and comprehensive review. Keep up the great work! That said, I stopped using Asus because their software is atrocious and security was pathetic (i.e. live update service was susceptible to hacks). I now use an MSI board and would never go back. Gigabyte is another good company and am looking at the x570 Xtreme, but am holding off until more reviews come in.
Absolutely going to review some gigabytes !
11:25.... what if my case front panel has 2 USB plugs 3.0 ? How i can connect it? or i cant?
There are adaptera ubs 2 0 connecteurs to 3.0.
But obviously, ur front panel sub connectors will be capped at USB 2.0 speeds
And 3.1 and 3.2 will not works with 3.0 Front panel?
3.0 is 3.1 which is 3.2 .
Standard names changed. But actually they are all the same plug with the same speed.
what about the amd 5700xt
You deserve more subscribers.
M.2 PCIE 4.0 goes up to 5.5Gbps not 55gbps, lol.
5.5 gb/s = 55gbps 1 gigabit = 100 megabytes
I have to admit, you are the only French person that seems to be likable...after Louis de Funès of course...
No seriously, great video and thanks for your efforts helped me a lot with my decision.
Lovely intro
A CLEAR QUESTION: I DONT WANT TO OC, I CARE ABOUT TEMPS, I CARE ABOUT BUILD QUALITY
AORUS MASTER OR VIII HERO?
GIVE ME AN ANSWER TO SPREAD IT AROUND THE WORLD. I HAVE BEEN SEARCHING FOR 3 MONTHS GOD DAMMIT. PLEASE HELP ME OUT!!!
If ur not going to OC, then CROSSHAIR VIII Hero is the way forward
wait... If I understood correctly, this motherboard has only 1 SSD slot? Which ones are compatible? Thank you if you answered.
Actually they are 2 of them. Second hidden under the heat shield:)
Salut pourquoi tu ne parle pas en français
Dommage
cool video but i suggest to make video less than 10 min
only a friendly suggestion
Well taken ")
What part would u cut?
Wait wait wait... it’s 360 usd ? And the formula is 600 ? Sooooo 240usd for a vrm waterblock or is there something else ? ;)
Well we’ll see on your next review ! ( hurry up !)
good video
Nice review. But Asus is charging a hell for it. Crosshair VII Hero is 280€ (300€ with WIFI) and the VIII Hero one is being sold at 460€ (480€ with WIFI). No way I am going to spend 200€ more! I have bought a second Crosshair VII Hero (x470).
Exactly the point i was making in my conclusion :)
Even more surprising .. the Formula costs almost twice that!!!! craziness
16 USB PORTS?!?!?!?
Yes..... 16 !!!! 12 back IO + 4 front panel.
116 gbps total bandwidth
@@Laurentschoice We don't need SATA III any more !! I just use NVME SSD and USB 3.2 SSD both run much faster than SATA III and USB 3.2 SSD can be plug and unplug for easy data transfer between PCs. but SATA III can't. If there is no SATA 4 (12Gb), SATA III will die soon.
YOU COULDN'T BE MORE WRONG THAN YOU ARE ABOUT THIS CONCLUSION!!!!!!!! LOL. IT'S THE FORMULA THAT IS THE ODD BOARD OUT, NOT THE HERO!!!!!! NAME ONE NEEDED OR USEFUL THING THAT THE FORMULA HAS THE THE HERO DOESN'T HAVE???????????? THE EK BLOCK IS SOOOOOO NOT NEEDED ON THE VRM'S!!!!! SO WHAT DOES THE FORMULA HAVE? The answer is NOTHING!!! The formula is the WASTE of MONEY, NOT the Hero!!!! The hero has better VRM's than the STRIX, and better performance on every benchmark I've seen to date. The Formula is the odd board out, that was definitely NOT needed... And YES this mobo DOES have TWO m.2 slots, not just one.
Hey :)
First let me thank you for watching the ENTIRE video .. that is actually very nice of you. So Merci !
2 You do realize that this is a Strix X570 E review... not the Formula :)
3 Yes I did add the correction about the 2nd M.2 ssd on the notes of the video as well as in comments (I think).
:)
Asus can you send me a new God damn pc (jk)
what the fuck did he say?!
Your on team red lul
Linas gave u a thumbs down :D
Whitefox121 I’m sure YOU did !
Lololol u knew me too well Lololol
Very Difficult to watch you Had to SHUT you down
Mother... Is that you ???
No sunny it's one of your X viewer
:):)
Man chill wtf is with your hands?
The faster I move my hands, the less likely you are to see them !
you do not have the board to review....waste of time
I do ") and running it as my editing machine.
Btw, will be publishing my Custom water cooled build featuring it this week :)
@@Laurentschoice not on this video mate...
No.. I was in Greece for hollidays... and i had to do part of the filming ahead of time (dialogue from the studio) and the graphics from my laptop on the road...
I really didnt want to miss the 7th July launch date so I did the Strix X570-e and Crosshair VIII like that.
For all the following x570 boards (6) I had more time and filmed the board:)
But yeah... I got you... not the best ")")")")
