Mia falling on the bleachers was an accident that Anne had and they just kept it in The dad is alive in the books but when they cast Julie Andrews for the grandma they asked the writer if they could kill off the dad so they could have Julie be more involved in the movie and the writer said “Kill him off”
Fun facts: when Anne Hathaway auditioned, she walked in and went to sit in a chair, and fell off the chair. Everyone in the audition saw it and said "That's Mia." Also the scene she lit the guy's arm on fire, when she put it in the bucket it was supposed to go out but didn't, so the throwing water is also a "mistake." And the slip on the basketball court, was a real fall. Anne Hathaway started laughing and in character told her costar to continue the scene.
I love you guy's because you're so NOT jaded or cynical. I feel like your reactions are real, and not a set-up for the next reaction. Thanks for being authentic
It hasnt been just since 2000 it just got easier to eliminate it during that time. I’ve got excessively curly hair and I’ve been hassled my whole life. To this day I just restrain it as much as possible to stop people from making comments.
Michael is actually very compatible with Mia in the books 🥺 One big thing they left out of the movie is that everyone is IM’ing each other and communicating is a big part of Mia’s relationship with Michael and a lot of her friends. I get that just a bunch of teenagers chatting doesn’t translate to movie well but the integrity of the characters really suffered from it.
@@Cassxowary iirc, Mia isn't exactly portrayed like that in the books, just an awkward teen with her own insecurities as most teens did. The "diaries" are written from her perspective, so you get to how self-deprecating she is, but that comes with her sarcastic wit in the books 😅
@@Cassxowary dude I get that it’s not nice to make fun of peoples looks but chill the fuck out. you’ve left the same response under every comment where someone is expressing they like it. it came out 22 yrs ago and there’s nothing we can change now
You guys have to watch “Sound of Music” so for the other boys to know more about Julie Andrews!! It’s my absolute favorite movie and she’s an amazing actress!!
You're not alone on Lily. Personally, I've reached a certain point in my life that having such a friend with so few redeeming qualities to be infeasible.
Hi! Why were you so agressive with Cassxowary? It looks like you are the insecure one :/ And I disagree with you, Lily isn't that bad : what kind of 16 yo wouldn't be stressed by her best friend not telling her what's going on ? Once Mia told her the truth, she came back to her cool self. She looks like an average teenager to me.
So fun fact: Heather Matarazzo (who played Lily) was one of my college acting teachers. 😂 Also, I’ve met Corbin Bleu a couple of times through one of my other teachers, and he’s very nice.
Please, please watch the second one. The plot is significantly more interesting and Julie Andrews sings again for the first time after her throat surgery. Also Chris Pine plays the male lead and the chemistry is off the charts.
Michael is played by Robert Schwartzman. His brother is Jason Scwartzman, his mom is Talia Shire (Adrianne in Rocky), his uncle is Francis Ford Coppola, and his cousin is Nicolas Cage (whose actual last name is Coppola). That was some of his real band 'Rooney' in the movie. I loved Rooney when I was in high school. I've seen them like 3 times and they are great. It's like Cali pop music I'd say.
Laughing at their comments about the love interest. I thought he was cute. And yeah, I think his band had a hit song one time. I have to YT it now. I remember it being a catchy song. Edit: 2 songs in fact. Rooney were so underrated.
That’s such a fun movie! I wish they reacted to more early 2000s Disney movies 😭 it’s so iconic, like Freaky Friday or confessions of a teenage drama queen
@Mo it’s not about ethnic features is “curly hair and glasses and braces are ugly and gross, but don’t worry, we’ll fix it!” And the hair piece was a laughing matter for them too! Thanks...
Zuff really just called The Sound of Music, Mary Poppins, the original Cinderella Julie Andrews “Jules”😂😂 he calls her Jules 😂 this was my favorite movie in high school lol, thanks guys
They cut some crucial and sweet scenes between Mia and Michael, there are like 2 deleted scenes that show the chemistry of Mia and Michael. Where he was there for Mia and knew exactly what to say to her to make her smile. Which was very close to the book version of Mia and Michael. I was really confused as to why they didn’t show more of Mia and Michael’s connection. It is like we get little crumbs of Michael having a crush on Mia while Mia has a crush on Josh. When did Mia start having feelings for Michael or did realize she liked Michael the whole time?? Ughh I wished that they at least used the deleted scene of Mia and Michael moment on the rooftop court. It was sweet and super natural scene. At least it would show Mia’s perspective of Michael instead of the other way around. Mia definitely noticed Michael too and his actions/sweet gestures towards her. 🥰
Love the sound of music and Mary Poppins brilliant watch them all the time fond memories watching them when I was younger aswell 😊 I also loved capt von trapp Christopher Plummer played his role so well😊 Julie Andrew is brilliant loved these films aswell princess diaries and princess diaries 2 is great to watch 😊
I used to watch this movie all the time when I was a little kid on VHS. I was obsessed and I had the biggest crush on Michael lmao. Lily's radio show was super important to me. I didn't know I would be a journalist girlie at the time.
The writer of the book was inspired to write it because her mom went on a date with her teacher. That was the first thing she wrote about it, a girl whose mom is dating a teacher.
No, the queen grandma or whatever she was and her stylist were. “Curly hair and glasses and braces? Ew. Ug-lay! But don’t worry, we’ll fix it!” Uh no check yourselves because you’re being awful.
I agree, you guys aren’t the target audience, but the second one love interest and plot is way better lol. Also I’m 21 and I find it crazy that people only know Julie Andrew’s from Bridgerton. Like Julie Andrew’s was Mary Poppins and in the Sound of Music and is a legend lol. I liked the commentary 🤗
Fun fact, the guy who plays Lily's brother is part of a band called Rooney known for Where Does Your Heart Go Missing. He's also related to the Coppola family!
Always love the reactions guys. One of my favorites growing up. Always thought Michael was a funky guy too lol. Wanna hear a random story? So the guy that plays Michael is the lead singer of a band called Rooney, and they played as a headliner for the Jonas Brothers tour lineup in 2008 (I was there and said no way, that guy was in Princess Diaries) lol
I love this movie! Dame Queen Julie Andrews is everything, Whitney Houston produced this movie and it has Sandra Oh being fabulous. This is a true comfort watch.
Fun fact: not sure if this has been said but the women who’s trying to take her crown, known as Baroness Joy Von, is also the same actress who plays The Nun in the conjuring films. Lowkey scared me then and even scares me now 😅
okay I just have to say...YALL CRACKED ME UP THIS EPISODE.!!! Y'all are always funny but the dancing at the end truly sent me. Love you guys, you're killing it lol.
Fun Fact the scene where the man tells the woman she’s much prettier than Mia and I’m referring to the older woman with the long nose she actually plays The Nun!
I was obsessed with the books in middle school(read them at least 20 times, all 15 of them) and I can honestly say the film does it justice. obviously they can't include everything from the books but the crew does an amazing job.
The Disney movie Bryce was referring to in the beginning was "Cow Belles" with Aly and AJ. It came out in 2006. Disney released a lot of good movies that year so Cow Belles kinda got overshadowed honestly😅. High School Musical and Cheetah Girls 2 came out the same year
48:44 killin me lmao “Both my feet are in the air right now”😂 And the dance break after, love your channel! I was a kid when this came out so it’s so nostalgic. I teach high school and watch your videos during my lunch break and it really brightens my day. Keep them coming!
The Princess Diaries is such a feel-good film. It automatically reminds me of the happy times back then this movie was first released. Keep up the good work as always.
Kind of glad they hinted that they didn't enjoy 2005 Pride and Prejudice here so I can mentally prepare. I love the movie and my hopes were high haha. But I enjoy hearing differing opinions and these guys are great regardless so it'll be a good watch.
Minor point out that Cow Belles was a DCOM (so made for Disney Channel) had a wide release in theaters and was just produced by Disney Studios (also the movies were five years apart)- it's just one of those things where as a preteen girl when Cow Belles premiered sticks in my memory. Also in terms of Cow Belles, there was Material Girls with the Duff sisters which was also in 2006 but wide release, and New York Minute with the Olsen twins was kind of similar, too.
I am 100% with you on Lily. She's the worst. I honestly think it should've been part of Mia's character arc in this movie to dump such a mean, judgmental, unsupportive friend. Or at least confront her about it PS. Lily, maybe if you want your cable show to reach a wider audience, you should consider naming it something other than "Shut Up and Listen"... just a thought
@@Cassxowary Fair point. But if no one confronts her about it, she'll soon be that adult who should know better but doesn't. And I'm not concerned about her being mad at Mia for missing the cable show. That's fair. Maybe she could have responded in a slightly better way, but she is a teenager who'd been hurt by her friend. I don't hold that against her. It's more her attitude the rest of the movie. The way she absolutely rips into Mia for changing her look, and just keeps making her feel bad about the whole princess thing, and just generally being rude and judgmental to everyone (again, see the name of her cable show)... that's the stuff I wish she'd been called out on
It’s a movie about materialism and superficiality. It’s about a preteen girl’s fantasy about being rich, famous and shallow without any of the actual responsibilities of being a real princess in line to be a queen. Instead of trying to solve problems in her country, she’s being taught superficial crap like how to wave, hook up with arm candy and wear fancy outfits. Aren’t there actual responsibilities that a future queen might have in this fictional country? I know it’s a chick flick, but don’t chicks deserve better? I’m a guy, but there are plenty of chick flicks I enjoy, most of them in the 80s and 90s. This is the equivalent of a bad Transformers sequel made for guys around the same age. I can see young girls growing up and going from this to Twilight and then to Mamma Mia and the Sex and the City movies. Oh boy.
Her radio show name is ironic considering she herself rarely just shuts up and listens lol And I disagree on the stance that she apologised, because she never did. She just explained her actions, which is good, but not an actual apology.
21:05 Lmao my new fav thing is Rob imitating girls in movies 🤣 did the same thing in Twilight lol . Also Bryce is right about Lily. She was a terrible friend. But i think she got better as the movie goes.
Great reaction guys! The guy who plays Michael is actually in a band called Rooney. I saw them on tour once, met him... he was so drunk, funny & awesome. 😂
this is one of those cases where the sequel is even more loved. you guys needdd to watch it, it has chris pine in it and its a 5 year time jump that takes place IN Genovia!
The slp and fall on the bleacher in the rain was totally not scripted but they kept it because it fit her character so well and the reactions to it were genuine.
Was about to start eating dinner and trying to find something to watch while I did. Super happy to see this reaction pop up! Will once again enjoy watching you guys watch one of my favorite movies. Brings me joy when others enjoy what I do.
The actress that plays Lily (Heather Matarazzo) got her start on an Alt/Indie movie called "Welcome to the Dollhouse" ... seriously messed up show but worth a watch
i'm sorry, the 2005 pride and prejudice movie is FANTASTIC and absolutely gorgeous. ya'll simply may not be used to a movie made up of almost entirely subtle performances and quiet moments lol
@@loen1z honey you got another thing coming if you think a friendly ribbing is rude lol. Calling someone pretentious for no reason other than your own inability to understand the difference between true anger and playful outrage, however, IS rude
I think they must have already watched it! They posted it as one of their romance movie finalist options 12 days ago…oh man…now I can’t wait to see the reaction lol
@suzzy9876 omg...well now I'm worried they didn't like but I feel like that's impossible. If they're eating up Bridgerton, they have to respect the Period Drama Elder which is P&P.

This is one of the few cases where i actually like the sequel more than the first movie so i can't wait for you guys to check that one out as well 😊
Bryce with his casual PERFECT British accent 'too hot to handle' - from the UK here, APPROVED
A part of me died at the thought of Julie Andrews being reduced to Ms. Whistledown.
She wasn't "reduced". They just said that's something she's in lol
21:05 Lmao my new fav thing is Rob imitating girls in movies 🤣 did the same thing in Twilight lol .
Also Bryce is right about Lily. She was a terrible friend. But i think she got better as the movie goes.
8:35 That’s why Meg Cabot wrote the books because they thought they were descended from royalty.
Great reaction guys! The guy who plays Michael is actually in a band called Rooney. I saw them on tour once, met him... he was so drunk, funny & awesome. 😂
This is such a ridiculously early 2000s movie it's crazy. He's the man. Thanks for watching, this movie is iconic.
The part where Mia falls On the bleachers at the basketball court was actually real. The director liked it and kept it in
this is one of those cases where the sequel is even more loved. you guys needdd to watch it, it has chris pine in it and its a 5 year time jump that takes place IN Genovia!
The slp and fall on the bleacher in the rain was totally not scripted but they kept it because it fit her character so well and the reactions to it were genuine.
By guys haven’t you seen Marry Poppins? Julie Andrews IS Mary Poppins!
I saw this one in theaters with my grandmother. Always been one of my favorites since then. 💖👑
I was dying at how they were clowning on Michael
For the sequel, Rob has to wear a tiara.
Was about to start eating dinner and trying to find something to watch while I did. Super happy to see this reaction pop up! Will once again enjoy watching you guys watch one of my favorite movies. Brings me joy when others enjoy what I do.
Must have been nice to not be able to relate to her looks... but glad you enjoyed otherwise...
@@Cassxowary What do you mean? XD
The actress that plays Lily (Heather Matarazzo) got her start on an Alt/Indie movie called "Welcome to the Dollhouse" ... seriously messed up show but worth a watch
“I knew there was gonna be a corn dog in this” 😂😂😂 Always Zuff with the most off the wall shit hahaha
Them dancing at the end was so cute tbh 😂
I love this movie this is my childhood movie. I’ve watched this a million times I love the second one too. You have to watch the second one. ❤
Must have been nice to not be able to relate to her looks... but glad you enjoyed otherwise...
@@Cassxowary what do u mean by this?
The cow milk sisters was called Cow Belles lol Aly and Aj were big on Disney when I was a kid!
i'm sorry, the 2005 pride and prejudice movie is FANTASTIC and absolutely gorgeous. ya'll simply may not be used to a movie made up of almost entirely subtle performances and quiet moments lol
I agree 🥺🥺 it's my favorite movie and book. Can't wait to see their reaction though .
same!!! i was like W H A T when he said that the book is probably better than the movie cause both are so good, so well done, and a classic!
lol exactly the movie is soooo good kiera knightly and matthew mcfayden are both just so 😍
Not everyone has to like the same things lol.
@@loen1z honey you got another thing coming if you think a friendly ribbing is rude lol. Calling someone pretentious for no reason other than your own inability to understand the difference between true anger and playful outrage, however, IS rude
Bryce singing ice spice KILLED ME
Please do Princess Diaries 2!! It’s actually so much better, especially in the romance part you guys want. And yes she is in Genovia in part 2!!
Did they just diss the 2005 pride and prejudice???? That is a SPECTACULAR movie that they need to watch next....
Sounds like they watched it and didn’t like the 2005 movie :(
For real!! Bridgerton wishes it had the romance PP 2005 has with barely a kissing scene in the last 2 minutes of film 😅
@@ouran909 that makes me sad:(
