I suspect they filmed Joe's reaction later, specifically to make her fall seem scripted/intentional. I don't think they'd film both shots at the same time.

Given there's been talks of a third film I don't think a reboot will be in the works. Part of me feels one day there will be a reboot eventually. I think it has to do with copy right stuff, its why a lot of their animated films came out with new versions or even lately, the live action versions. So maybe they can do the opposite and make a nice animated reboot of this one day years from now.
the 3rd film is already green lit after disney plus was announced but was delayed for covid by 1-2 years last i knew
I thought the third was put on hold after the original director (Gary Marshall) passed away in 2016

Anne Hathaway actually slipped on the bleachers irl while filming, so they didn’t stop rolling, and it was put in the final (and only) take of this scene. She actually fell off a chair while sitting, and that got her the part of clumsy Mia Thermopolis.

Fun fact- Anne Hathaway slipping on the bleachers wasn’t in the script. It had rained just before filming the scene and they wiped them down as best they could but she turned really fast and slipped on a puddle. The director decided to keep it because he thought it was a charming moment.
This is probably one of Disney's best original films with a strong sequel. Apparently I'm a gross minority as a straight man (27) watching your videos, but it probably because you do a lot of Disney films. I think you're hilarious to watch and you maintain a good balance between emotionally experiencing the film and maintaining an ongoing entertaining commentary. A sequel video for Royal Engagement would be awesome, and I still wanna recommend Fresh (1994) again for when you're looking for something a little more serious. #bingers

I loved this movie growing up but looking back at it now I realize just how mean people were to Mia, especially her best friend and grandma. Her grandma judged her looks constantly and her friend used her for popularity (after guilt tripping her into telling her her secret). Mia definitely deserved better, she was beautiful even before her princess transformation. Michael, Joe, and her mom were the only real ones in this movie
Billy is such a gentleman, knowing which side of the sidewalk to walk on. My dad has always done this for me and I finally asked why. So, now I am extra impressed when a guy does it for me, dating or not.
Yes! I am happy to hear other men of his generation know this. One of the things that attracted me to my now husband was him moving me to the inside of the street on one of our first dates so he could be near the street.

Please do The Princess Diaries 2 Royal Engagement. It's one of the few Disney sequels that Disney actually did a good job on.

In the books, the dad is alive.
They changed it because of the choice to cast Julie Andrews as the queen.
They told the author that they were going to kill off the dad because of this, and when they told her it was Julie Andrews, she was like, "Kill the dad!"
And the grandmother was mean in the books.

this movie was based on a book series by Meg Cabot that was mega-popular, but really really different from the movie version. they even reference the movie in one of the books. in the books grandma was nowhere near as nice and the dad still alive but with cancer which prevented him from having more kids ;)

The Princess Diaries is one of my absolute favorite movies as a kid. For real though, Anne Hathaway was so stunning in this. I’ve really admired her for quite some time. It surely is an unforgettable classic with the one and only Julie Andrews involved in the cast ensemble.

I love the Princess Diaries films, there was a rumor and nod to a third film not too long ago but the first two are good to me. I will say I cringed and had to catch myself when I head “put the dragon on your back”, I felt like a kid listening to my uncle tell my aunt to turn it around in the kitchen while they danced.
