This series is so much better than the kissing booth, it has some really endearing moments throughout whilst still maintaining the fun highschool romcom feel

The actor who plays Lara Jean's dad (John Corbett) played the love interest in My Big Fat Greek Wedding, a romantic comedy from 2002. On top of him doing a really good job in the role, I always thought casting him as the dad was a nice reference to how popular the rom-com genre was back in the early 2000s
He was also in a show from the early 90s called Northern Exposure. It's an interesting show. John Corbett's character is so endearing and sweet. You all should check it out! It gets weird, but it stays interesting and fun. 😊

This movie series is this generation’s Pretty In Pink and Sixteen Candles - a movie that is stylized, but has enough elements of truth about growing up that it works. And it has enough identifiable realism without becoming the latest gross out comedy. Not every good teen movie has to be looking for shock value. This is good enough that it doesn’t need it and proof that not all chick flicks are terrible.

I actually prefer the movie to the book! The movie shows them bonding over their parent drama and I wish the book had that connection 😍 but in the book The “sex tape” was more dramatic. It kept popping up at school and got sped up so it looked like she was actually riding him. 😣And he was actually waiting for Gen in the hot tub which is how she got the video!
