Your appreciation for ALL the individuals involved in each element of the process is really lovely to watch. Seeing how much respect you have for their talent is something missed from a lot of reactors, especially when you are so blown away by something you've just learned, is like a wide eyed kid. Just lovely to see
So cool to rewatch this awesome documentary with you. Everything is on point, the writing, the artistry, the voice acting, and the music as you are about to dwelve into part 4. I was blowm away by the sound effect too described in part 5 (but l'm gettimg ahead of myself here 😅). You may have to rewatch season 1 again with a new attention to all these details after the documentary, haha, I know I did ! But not before watching season 2 with us of course 😉
@ClaudieTV great ! 🙌 Eager to discover your thoughts about season 2 ! Especially in terms of writing since it seems you write fiction; I do not and I have my own thoughts about season 2 but I'll be listening to yours with interest !
The way they masterfully did the lighting and animated the characters, even without motion capture, it doesn't feel like animation even though it clearly is. Its so fluid. The emotions/expressions are so realistic it feels like watching a different reality where things behave slightly differently. Like another universe where the reality style is different. They should protect whatever secret ingredients they have at all costs lol.
Omg I just realized theres some work-in-progress season 2 animation in this episode! Im gonna have to look through all the other episodes and see what else I can find. Its around 22:25 (spoilers?)
i remember getting emotional when the guy from Fortiche said "nothing is round in the show because a drawing is not perfect", it's such a human thing to say...
You can definetly see how some of the characters where influenced by their voice actors, some in particular like Jayce looking quite a bit like his VA kevin Alejandro or Caitlyn having caucasion & asian parents as her VA Katie Leung is Scottish/ chinese. I think it's a really nice touch that makes these characters their own whilst still being the characters from the game.
Animation is forever going to stay it's own bubble of storytelling and artistry simply because there are absolutely no restrains except your mind (and I guess levels of technology), that freedom is not achievable in that capacity when it comes to live and I truly pity all the people, all the adults, for having reservations or judgements about it, it's undeniable that some of the best works have come from this medium, it's timeless, and Arcane is the magnum opus for what is achievable and how far you can touch human hearts and thoughts across any and all places and conditions with it, with art. Maybe I'm dramatic, I don't really care tbh, have to give praise where it's due lol
Agreed. I've never felt so attached to fictional characters as those animated ones from Arcane. The way they are animated, especially the faces, make them feel so real. I'd say one thing that can get to you even more compared to live action, is that you know that every detail is intentional and has an artistic purpose behind it. Meanwhile in live action, there is intention in the acting of course but the actors themselves don't control every single detail of their body and face, it just biologically "happens" when they are trying to act a certain way. When you watch something like Arcane, you can't help just being in awe at how much artistic work has been needed behind everything you see on screen.
@@Attya-y2y See but talking to some people, they bring up the exact reason of intention that "kills" the immersion, the spontaneos moments you get from human experience. So I guess it kinda boils down to how you consume media when it comes to those aspects... What is undeniable is that the creativity, cinematography, detail is unreplicable, the different ways it draws emotions out of you is unique, and when you get a brain baby like Arcane, every minute of that show is a crascendo, I just wanna poke and prod at it and be all ☝🏼🤓 until I get bullied for being annoying lmao
The goal was definitely not a cashgrab. It was passion that drove this project and respecting the intellectual property. They went into this blind, not knowing if it would fail or succeeded.
The shot of Powder's blue eye in which the flames are reflected is inspired by a painting by Alexandre Cabanel "The Fallen Angel". It represents the fall of Lucifer, expelled from paradise. Lucifer, otherwise called "the angel of light". Pretty fitting for Jinx.
Also, the flame making her eyes look purplish-pink foreshadows her being infused with the Shimmer later and the fact in that moment Powder became Jinx.
@@aspieanarchist5439 You are absolutely right! But, if I can add my interpretation, Powder does not become Jinx, Powder dies to make way for Jinx. there is no continuity in Arcane, the 2 seasons are a story of rupture. Each character undergoes a breakup, a radical change, a trauma. The character who suffered the most breakups is Jinx. I counted 7 radical ruptures at Jinx in 2 seasons. This is absolutely unprecedented in the history of cinema. It’s prodigious!
@@aspieanarchist5439 That’s the beauty of Arcane. Great works are open and, as the poet says, beauty is not in the painting but in the eye of the beholder. However, it is Jinx who says: "Powder fell into a well." No one ever comes up from a well... except in Hollywood.🙂
Mia was a kid when she did the lines for Season 1, she grew into a young teen over the course of the production because they recorded the voicelines from home during COVID.
This might be old news, but in case people haven't already told you a lot of times, the Ekko talk reminded me: There is a full official Arcane music video to Enemy, the opening song, which features some more characterization and world building, especially for both Powder and Ekko. If you haven't yet, I think its worth the brief watch and its another thing that slightly enhances S1 even more.
@@ClaudieTV Sure thing :) This music video in particular feels like a companion piece to Episode 1-3 and in a way Episode 7 of Season 1. Or even a trailer for Season 1. So just in terms of watch order I would suggest it before season 2. However its fine either way, just a suggestion, and I understand that even just looking it up might carry a risk of running into spoilers from other videos in the sidebar or yt comments.
Still can't tell which one is 2D or 3D because they have done a great job on blending the two together. And....You will be amazed how their animation skill and technique improves in S2. It's mind-blowing.. Edited cuz there are so many typos omg.
I found bad thing in Arcane show..it ends. Unusual art masterpiece that's inspires people all over the world. Leaving thoughts and huge expectations what they could do with incoming lore regions League of Legends.
2:49 I would highly recommend watching season 2 as soon as possible. With it being so fresh in people's minds, they will not be able to help themselves from posting spoilers, or leaving not so subtle cryptic remarks in the comments. So unless you have someone who can moderate/filter your comments for you, that's your best option. I know there's nothing more annoying than unsolicited advice but it might be worth using headphones or ear buds when recording your reactions. That way you'll have clean audio of your commentary to marry with the video you're reacting to when editing. Right now it seems like you're trying to capture both through the one microphone so that's why the source video is sounding muffled which could in turn hurt viewer retention? Just a thought, hope it didn't come off as too negative, you're doing great given you've only been at this for a week or so! ☺🙌
