"I don't want the parallels." Well strap in girl, because that is exactly what this series is all about. Cities Above and Below, Sisters and Brothers, Fathers and Daughters, and so on and so forth, even hair and eye color has parallels. This series is a Master Class in story telling, welcome to the play ground!
And a masterclass in making 3D look like paintings, a masterclass in action and fight scene choreography, a masterclass in facial animation, a masterclass in cinematography, a masterclass in direction. A masterclass in showing Hollywood how to do stuff the right way with a big, purple middlefinger 😀
Noooo, dont apologize for the subtitles I very much prefer having them on though I might be the minority there. Especially for when you have to mix and distort the audio for copyright.
Just so you know when Vi saw the monkey head she didn't know Powder blew the place up. She thought she snuck in and was probably dead from the explosion. So you can imagine her thinking she lost her entire family, just to realize Powder is alive, and then to immediately realize she's the one that killed your family.
I realized this while I was watching it for the first time and it HURT. Vi was going through a lot, and then to believe her little sister was gone as well 😭
Bruh Vi has really been THROUGH it in ways unimaginable, when I see people hating on her or blaming her for "abandoning" powder I genuinely wonder if people are ok in the head 💀
@@edwardsummey8843 I had no idea going in that it was based off of LoL (I initially watched it based on the recommendation of a friend who didn’t mention that detail) so I was legitimately flabbergasted when the title screen said Arcane: League of Legends. Not to mention that it easily became the best animated show I’ve ever seen. In a way, that’s what made it all the more impressive. If such a masterpiece could come from fucking League of all things, then there’s hope yet haha.

Even an adult you wouldn't be sure about his reaction at such a hard moment. They made it sooooo well. All the characters are really cool, would love to get more on Silco and vander's past...
The real issue was her taking them up top after Vander had explicitly told them not to, which was the most direct catalyst for everything that happens in the series
Because of Netflix's history of cancelling shows, I waited until the whole thing had come out before starting it. I (correctly) chose to start it on a day off. The next 13 hours of my life were spent binging all 18 episodes. This may or may not have been a mistake.
I just want to say, even though it's airing on Netflix, it's not a Netflix show. None of the writers or any production is from Netflix, no money is being put into the show by Netflix and they have zero creative control over it. Ik it's just ignorance, but I find it little bit hurtful that people give credit to Netflix over Riot games and Studio Fortiche. Like, they poured 80 million on this thing, they spent 7 years on season 1, and they put everything into this. This is their first show ever and they knocked it out of the park and I think that deserves recognition. Netflix sucks and they always manage to screw up shows, especially animated shows. I'm glad this is an independent work.
Aside from the basic lore and the money...Riot doesn't really deserve "credit" for it either. And their lore is more a result of the various clips Fortiche has done for them over the years. Riot itself is really not all that good at building their own lore. They're better at lore than they are at making decent games, but still not especially good at it.
@DoremiFasolatido1979 what are you talking about? The directors and the studio might be fortiche but the writers, musicians, and producers are from riot's own studio and they have been working on the league ip for years. Go look at the documentery before making false claims.
I can without hyperbole say that in my opinion Arcane is one of the best things ever put on a screen full stop, animated or otherwise. The story, visuals, sound design... it's just a perfect storm. The very opening of the first episode already hits like a gut punch and it just keeps going from there.
Just pointing the obvious (in retrospect): Vander is a character of the same mold of Leto Atreides, Ned Stark and Obi-Wan Kenobi. We were supposed to love him just so he could have a tragic death at the end of the first act, so we knew how heavy things will be, and how tragic is the life of the main character. Oh well. Knowing you are a writer (I am too!) I was so quick to recommend Arcane and I'm so glad you love it. It's a masterclass of storytelling and I think storytellers can get so much *more* than entertainment from this show. It's literally a benchmark I ponder as i try to convey things in my own writing.
Silco belived Vi abandoned powder the same way Vanderbilt turned on him. Rather then a new tool to use he finds a kindred soul who’s felt the same thing he did.
31:20 especially 31:37 scene always jerks a tear watching it 😭 it's such a raw, visceral emotional moment unlike many others on tv Looking forward to part two of this video and to part two of S2 🥲
Arcane and The Haunting of Hill House are easily some of the best shows I have ever seen. If you haven't seen the latter I can't recommend it enough. As a writer I have a feeling you would appreciate the storytelling even more than I did.
Shimmer is...kinda like the Super-Soldier Serum from Marvel...but with a LOT more side-effects. It mostly just makes you MORE what you already are. Good becomes great, bad becomes worse. The kid who drank it turned into a sadistic and mostly mindless monster. Vander became an obsessively protective papa bear. Saving Vi meant more than revenge on Silco.
Arcane is one of those series that is "Short but outstandingly good". The pacing, animation, storyline, characters are portrayed in a very satisfying manner that time literally flies while you are feeling the story and not just watch it. People might have a lot of expectations regarding Season 2, but even if it falls short series in itself is, again, so good. I'm glad you've enjoyed it! Can't wait for the next episodes.
The way they did the art for the show is, they had 3D digital models for characters and objects, and then "hand" drew the backgrounds and details digitally. That's why their body language and facial expressions feel so real even though they're animated. They hand-drew every bit of it onto those character models with the utmost subtlety. If it were too obvious, it would look strange to us. Our brains are wired to pick that stuff up subconsciously...and when it stands out, it "feels" wrong to us. That's part of that "uncanny valley" that gets mentioned sometimes. That they managed to so believably hand-draw (even if digitally) such emotive but subtle expressions on animated characters, is nothing short of masterful. And I love the "oil painting" texture to everything.
Until this show, whenever a movie or series has attempted to be adapted from a video game series, it has not been with positive outcomes. This show has broken that norm. Another show that was adapted from a video game series into a live action show is Amazon's Fallout. Everybody thought that show would fail like many other adaptations, but when it was released, it surprised everyone. The voice actress who plays Jinx in Arcane also stars in the Amazon series Fallout.
Arcane is literally my favorite show of all time! I even named my cats after Jinx and Vi. I'm so excited to see your reaction to the rest of the series!
Your reactions are actually pretty nice, you comment on stuff at the right time without cutting or speaking on action scenes and without exaggerating your emotions, you seem very genuine and that is very captivating. I'm writing this because this is the first channel I found to actually react to the series well and I am really enjoying it:) Good job! I wish you the best.
If you want to have your heart broken and your soul crushed and even be glad about the experience afterwards, so brilliant that it is nothing less than a an anomaly. A middlefinger to hollywood's bland, formulaic storytelling and shallow characters, a loveletter to animation, a masterclass in action choreography, the best facial animation of ANY animation... Every single frame a wallpaper, a surprisingly great music score and soundtrack, a series not made to sell the game it is named after but to tell a story that stands in a ridiculous contrast to the beautiful, fantastic world it plays in with characters so real, it hurts seeing them suffer...??? Then Arcane is for you!!
First time to your channel, and it is for Arcane! Wow, amazing reaction, very sharp in figuring things out, nicely edited as well. 8:59 There are many "League of Legends" and "Legends of Runterra" cinematic videos on YT which explain the world of Runterra and "Arcane" more in depth. Some of those are called "Awaken", "Warriors" (2020 version), "The Call" and "Still Here". Necrit also makes videos about the lore of this show/ universe (aka the "League of Legends" world). Jinx's song also has a music video called "Get Jinxed". 10:34 "Arcane" btw is an universally used term for a specific kind of magic, which also exist outside of the League of Legends universe, so it's not special to this show. 10:42 I think Yordle's (his race) can't die or sth like that. 31:23 Another show where I cried after only knowing a character for 1 episode was "Frieren: Beyond jouney's end". Great execution there as well.
Marcus, without meaning to, actually saved both girls' lives. Had Vi gotten back to Powder, Silco would've killed them both. Vi will NEVER turn to Silco's side after what he's done...and Powder will never join him so long as Vi is around. And if Silco kills Vi, he wouldn't be able to keep Powder then, either. So, either he lets them go (which means them inevitably getting in his way later for revenge), or he kills them both then and there to nip the problem in the bud immediately. Silco is mostly a pragmatist. He wouldn't hesitate to kill them both in that scenario. So, while Marcus was just being opportunistic and kidnapping Vi to use as some sort of indeterminate leverage against Silco at some point in the future, he inadvertently saved both girls' lives in doing so.
So quick note as I am just starting the video, but this is not a netflix original. It was just distributed by netflix, but created by riot and fortiche. Don't give netflix the credit for this masterpiece :)
BTW, in the last shot on ep 3 you can see it clearly, Powder's Eyes reflect Violet, and Violet's eyes are Powder Blue; Do with that info whatever you want.
Game of Thrones in a Steampunk fantasy setting with stellar animation, music and voice performances making for one of the greatest shows I've ever seen.
I never understood why people think that Silco would inject Vander with shimmer. Because why in the world would you give your enemy super strength? They'll just kill you with it.
Vi and Powder are biological sisters but when Vander and Silco called each other "Brother" they meant brothers in arms before the revolution against Piltover went awry and they blamed eachother!
I'm sooo glad I found this channel and be able to watch you react to both seasons in one go! Also youuuu look so pretty, it's distracting me HAHAHAH you somehow look like Hoyeon (with a mix of jessica lee) in another universe or Hoyeon looks like you in another universe- but even just as you, youuuu are sooo prettyyyy gurrrrl
11:37 _"Now the Enforcers know that they're guilty of something..."_ No, no, no. You got it all backwards. They're from the Undercity. _Of course_ I have to find them something to be guilty of.
I know you've already watched most of this, but I just needed to say this: Your fans are sadists. You need to thank them. This beautiful show _will_ hurt you, and you will _love_ every moment.
Another series to watch that is really underated in my opinion on Netflix is Tales of Arcadia. There 3 different series and a movie to finish out the Narrative. If you do react to it, start with Trollhunters!
Soooo, I gotta watch Arcane is what I'm hearing and seeing. Damn it, Gina. I ask you, from one easily distracted pantser to another, how am I supposed to get any writing done if you keep tossin' cool ass shows out there like this? BTW, SOOO excited to see the IT reaction video. Can't wait.

I don’t think you have to worry about copyright for all the music in the show, all songs were created specifically for the show
YESSSS ARCANE IS MY FAVORITE SHOW PLEASEEEE FINISH THIS OMG ITS SO WORTH IT, PHENOMENAL SHOW
BTW, in the last shot on ep 3 you can see it clearly, Powder's Eyes reflect Violet, and Violet's eyes are Powder Blue; Do with that info whatever you want.
Oh boy! Just like LOTR, you’re in for a ride! And you don’t even have to wait years for Season 2:)
This is perfect timing as a recap to prepare for season 2 too 😮
yesss i love people reacting to shows
27:00 fun fact about this guy… his jaw is made of tissue paper, it breaks whenever Vi’s around
I really liked this video and the editing. Waiting for next epidodes, s2 tomorrow 😱
Game of Thrones in a Steampunk fantasy setting with stellar animation, music and voice performances making for one of the greatest shows I've ever seen.
I love your commentary!
30:00 that was hilarious
Read this just as it happened 😂
I never understood why people think that Silco would inject Vander with shimmer. Because why in the world would you give your enemy super strength? They'll just kill you with it.
Just found you through this video, cant wait to see your reaction to the rest of the season! (also subscribed!)
Vi and Powder are biological sisters but when Vander and Silco called each other "Brother" they meant brothers in arms before the revolution against Piltover went awry and they blamed eachother!
1:58 ...you don't even know how
Tried getting all my friends to watch this when it came out. Finally got them to start it and they are mad I didn't force them to watch it sooner
I JUST SAW THE RED RISING BOOKS ON YOUR BOOKSHELF.
Love that series so so much. Great content!
"Is this show gonna hurt my feelings?"
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
going back here because I am still traumatized after season 2 episode 6
S1E3 makes me cry every damn time. woof.
11:37 _"Now the Enforcers know that they're guilty of something..."_
No, no, no. You got it all backwards. They're from the Undercity. _Of course_ I have to find them something to be guilty of.
8:20
Average viewer: "The poor kitty!"
LOL players: "I wish that was Yuumi!"
very concerned for your next emotional roller coaster(s) yet also completely invested
i LOVE that you are watching this!
Can't wait.
