    How did this 2.0 Malibu escape Chevy's stop/start technology? Excellent review. The sunroof, wheel package will give you 19" wheels, and the panoramic roof is a beauty. Thanks for all the details.

    Nice car, but he is right - lower gas prices and improved engine performance has allowed a lot of families to choose an suv or truck over the mid-size sedan. The crossover market is booming right now.

    I to have bought a 2017 Malibu 1.5ltr. It gets great reviews across the board but i am afraid of some reports of many engine troubles after 40thousand km.I am a father of 3 and the only provider for our family. I took out the entended warr and hope it helps as if i end up with a ton of repairs. Well lets say with a house payment and everything the kids are into hockey and other sports,something will suffer and i hope its not my children. I need this car to last 10yrs and go 250thousand kms to get our money back. Does anyone have a solid real opinion if i made a good choice for the family or not. We went from a 2012 santa re 3.5ltr so im preying chev has this car together. Im scared.

    Great Review Chris. I like this new design. However, this car bugs me two ways. First, where is the LED/HID headlamp upgrade on Premier trim. Second, I the interior materials are really not that great. At least the top line trim should like swanky inside.

    I think the reason so many are buying Crossovers is because of road view. They sit higher and people like looking over vehicles of matching the forward truck in front of them during driving. We who love sedans and coupes have to deal with vehicles having tint everywhere, higher roof curves and high back ends which all play a major role in greater decrease in visual road and traffic conditions ahead. It is highly frustrating when driving. This tells me that many people feel this and made the choice to get a higher center of gravity vehicle to see the road better.

    i have seen your vids many times and are almost always well done, nobodys perfect ;-) my only question has to do with trim level choices for your reviews, not just for this particular video. the largest chunk of sales are overwhelmingly mid-level in this segment e.g. the malibu LT. so why not do reviews that correspond more directly to sales leaders? thanks

    Does the car reset after it shuts off. I accidentally pressed the plus and minus buttons and I’m trying to get my car back to the way it was. I don’t want to ruin my car but I hate the placement of the buttons on the gear shift. Sadly I don’t know how to drive manual so when I learned that this has a manual option by those buttons being pressed I’m nervous I messed my car up.

    Im driving a rented one, looks beautiful and runs good in highways, but in city the shift between 1st to 2nd is to lazy. I don't liked the way shift between gears. Make the car little lazy at the beginning.

    • @slappyhappy6192
      @slappyhappy6192 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's not lazy. It comes with automatic stop/start feature to save gas when you come to a stop while in D position. You have to bypass that by going into L position and pressing the plus sign on top of the shift knob all the way to 6.
      L is manual mode that allows you to set the gears available. 6 is all the way open, and allows for regular use without stop start bullshit

    I just traded in my 2014 Impala ltz with 60,000 trouble free miles for a fully loaded 2017 Chevy Malibu premier with the new 9 speed automatic transmission. And yes, this car does not have the auto/ stop feature. I thought my Impala was quick but the Malibu will out run it even though that car has a v6. 0 to 60 comes in at 5.7 and the quarter- mile goes by at 14.3 at almost 100 mph and top speed is drag Limited at 156 mph all do to the 9 speed.

    I like your comparison to Rodney. I rent a lot of cars. I've rented Malibu's a number of times. I don't like them at all. I hate the engine shutting down at stop signs and lights. The engine is weak. I don't care anything about the electronics. My iPhone will do all that stuff. Basically the car is very boring.

    • @FirstHillSeattle
      @FirstHillSeattle 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't mind the Malibu-- I also rent a lot of cars and find it to be very easy to jump in and go because there is nothing complicated or fussy about it. With that said, I just rented a GMC Acadia with the 4 cylinder turbo and it was horrible. The start/stop seemed more noticeable in it and it was woefully underpowered. When I rent a car I do like to get Apple Carplay, so that is a plus on the GM side.

    It looks like a nice car. *Suggestion To General Motors*. Please drop the Chevrolet brand name and make all Chevrolet products GMC products. So you would have Cadillac, Buick, and GMC. Three companies is enough, and you can consolidate dealerships and save money. The GMC name is more hip, precise, and 21st century. I think you would sell more cars around the world that way.

    • @christhecarguyking6903
      @christhecarguyking6903 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Interesting. I've been saying for a while the industry is about to go through another contraction with large-scale dealership closings around the country. I don't think GM can kill the Chevrolet brand though. Chevy is the bread and butter volume brand for GM. The next brand I can see GM eliminating is most likely to be Buick.

    • @BanBiofuels
      @BanBiofuels 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      True and funny. I don't think the Chevrolet name has much international appeal, however, and it reminds me of all the old junk American cars my parents use to buy before we kids told them to go European for reliability. America needs to sell cars to other countries to get our trade balance straight. I like the GMC badge very much. The Chevrolet logo does not do it for me. It is an anachronism.

    • @Yellow-Rose
      @Yellow-Rose 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Christopher Calder I kind of thought that European car companies cared more about ride quality and performance, whereas America cared more about big engines to haul bales of hay and livestock, or to race against their cousins on the weekends. European cars don't have a great reliability record. I've heard lots of complaints about Volkswagens. Sure you'll get hoity toity styling and a smooth ride until it craps out on ya. I think I'm with the Japanese on this one. Anyway thanks for your reply.

    • @ronlheureux7623
      @ronlheureux7623 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Steven Dooley Exactly! These cars brand name have a long history and following. As was stated, Chevy is a bread and butter moniker for GM. As far as them not selling well in Europe, so what? America is far and away the largest market for Chevy, by far. I would also criticize those people that try to equate today’s cars with those of the past. Let me tell you, Ford and Chrysler made some seriously junky cars, as well. Several Chevy vehicles are at it near the top of their segments. I would suggest that Cadillac, while it has a way to go with consistent quality, is starting to make headway in that effort. The new Corvettes are quite desirable overseas these days, I would add.
      As far as the suggestion that Buick would be worthy of dropping, that is simply ridiculous. Buck is consistently in the upper top ten quality cars in the US. That’s among ALL brands sold in the US. It is also extremely profitable for GM with its Chinese popularity.
      I would add that Mercedes Benz and Honda have dropped out of the top ten for quality and reliability. The highest rated car line for quality the US for the past two years is Kia!

    Don't ever buy GM. Various mechanical pieces are likely to break when you hit around 40000 miles. And that is the point beyond the bumper to bumper warranty. Terrible resale value. Research on the interenet. Also if you are in the market for a new car, don't watch reviews like these on youtube. They just review what can be seen with the eyes like the quality of the plastic in the interior. Most of the things in a car that matter in a car like mechanical reliability and trustworthiness of a brand cannot be seen with eyes and are not touched on by these poor youtube reviewers. Go to sites like consumeraffairs or car complaints to assess the long term reliability of a car. Watch youtube reviews only to pass the time. Don't make a decision based on these. You're going to regret it.

      I agree with the premise that you need to run a full evaluation, both short-term and long-term, of a vehicle before purchase and match your needs to expectations. But you initial blanket comment regarding GM is ridiculous. Literally millions of people have had long-term positive experiences with GM products. I'm just one of them.
