    M6 dad is particularly picky about his cars (imports, especially Toyota), but when he rented a Malibu some time ago, he was down right impressed with the ride. This car would be good with kids who are just starting out driving on the road, with all the safety features and those piercing eyes of parents which want to know what their kids are doing on the road..

    I travel a lot and rent a variety of cars often. The Chevy products are some of the best now. I prefer their cars over Toyotas, Hyundais, Nissans, and even Hondas. They are solid road trip cars and in LTZ trim, great tech features. I used to go back to the rental car counter when I saw an Impala in my spot, not anymore. They are no Infiniti or BMW, but for the money you can't beat them since you can probably get $5K off of MSRP for a Malibu. Regarding reliability, all manufactures have come in quality. I guess if you are going to keep a vehicle for 200K miles, maybe a Toyota is more reliable but that being said I've owned Hondas that had premature transmission failures and engine block problems. I have also recently owned 3 VWs (granted all on leases), and they've had less problems than some of the Japanese vehicles I've had. Again, they are all either on leases or traded in before 60K miles, but I don't believe the average car owner keeps a vehicle for 200K miles.

      Hertz has a bunch of Hondas. I've also rented Porsches, VWs, Mercedes, Nissans, Toyotas, etc. from them. Most OEMs use rental car fleets to turn slower moving vehicles including Porsche even. The age of a rental car fleet with a few types of vehicles is gone.

    I have the 2017 Malibu Premier and I was very impressed by the adaptive cruise control and my gas mileage to date going to Virginia beach was a very impressive 38.9 mpg. All from a car that can hit 0 to 60 in 5.7 seconds and turn the quarter mile and 14.7 seconds at almost 100 mph with a top speed drag limited at 153 mph. With gas prices going up I'll enjoy my midsize car .

  • @wilmotown

    As a teen driver, I can say firmly that I don't like the report thing because I feel like I'm being watched, but I live in a place where the highest speed limits around are on a distant highway and it's still only 65, and I like to listen to my music on a relatively quiet level. Also, anyone who doesn't wear their seatbelt in 2017 is just idiotic. I can't imagine any possible reason to forgo the simplest safety feature in a remotely modern car. Click it or Ticket, I guess. Good car.

    1:28 "While there is a ton of room in the back seat" -- Says he while carefully looking up not to hit his head on the roof. I despise those pointless sloping roofs in the back of a family sedan, a dumb solution to a non-existent problem. Form over substance.

    i rented a malibu last week after 3 days the check engine light came on. The car only had 8,900 miles on it. I got switched out in to a new Ford Fusion, smooth, great on gas and fully loaded :)

      Shame on Chevy. It's a nice feature to have and really helps with visibility.

      tanarvis tennant I don't drive much at night, so it isn't a huge issue for me. If you are looking at mid size sedans I would recommend looking at the premier version of the Malibu anyways. I have loved the car and it doesn't have an overly harsh ride even with the 19 inch wheels.

    it's not my kind of car but it is very impressive and arguably the one to get if you have long freeway commutes. the other option is the hyundai sonata.

    I feel like a part of these reviews should be "How long does it take to burn up" I look at this car, and I have a feeling that if you're in an accident it will burn down front to rear in like 32 seconds

    • @still34u
      @still34u 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ehm.. exactly what I said in OP. The car looks very "paper plastic" and all Chevys do. I don't know, Especially when compared with German cars, Chevys look and feel extremely cheap. I would not put my family in one of these, that's for sure

    • @camaroman101
      @camaroman101 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd have to take the side of the professionals who have been giving this car pretty decent reviews. This car wouldn't burn up any quicker than any of its competition, if you want real safety specs look up its crash test ratings. It received an IIHS top safety pick. Looks cheap compared to what german cars?

    Well, the grille stands out, and not in a good way. The overall look just doesn't do anything for me. I think the Altima and Mazda 6 both look better, and I think the 6 would be more of a driver's car. The Altima gets better MPG.

      DigitalYojimbo we get our oil changes at GM dealers all the time and its fine. the only other dealer i have been in for service in the last 10 years was toyota and those experiences were cancer

    • @camaroman101
      @camaroman101 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +DigitalYojimbo That's completely dependent on the dealership itself, not the manufacturer. They're all independently owned and operated.

    Chevrolet has too many sedans/hatchback sedans...count them 6! Due to decline in popularity of sedans, Mary Barra should discontinue the Sonic and Impala ASAP, in addition to the already announced SS from Australia. The hatchback Cruze has made the hatchback Sonic pretty much irrelevant. And a full-size car from a mass-marketer that is the same size as an XTS is no longer marketable to the typical 30-50 year old family man/woman. Ford should also stop selling the similarly sized Taurus in the U.S. Let Chrysler have the full-size car market because law enforcement prefers rear-wheel drive. Witness the steep decline in sales of the Sonic and Impala recently. Fracking tech keeps a lid on gas prices...only much higher gas prices would increase sales of so many sedans. Just 3 Chevrolet 4-door sedans are now necessary...Spark, Cruze, Malibu.
