I have a fully loaded 2017 Malibu Premier and the new 9 speed makes a big difference. 0 to 60 comes in at 5.3 seconds and the quarter mile comes in at 14.3 at almost 100 mph and top speed is drag limited at 153 mph pretty dam impressive for the 2.0 Turbo. So far with 11,000 miles this car is perfect. Some comment they rather drive a Mazda 6, well Mazda finally upgraded there car with a better motor, same horsepower but more torque then the 2.0 Malibu but to bad the Mazda is about 1 1/2 seconds slower to 60 than the Malibu. That's because Mazda decided to stay with there old 6 speed transmission and the car is even slower to reach the quarter mile. I'll take my Premier anytime. Once the Trifecta tune is installed another 50 horsepower added the car will then run under 5 seconds to 60, what a sleeper.
I just bought a 2017 Premiere - very nice car with huge year end discounts. 27% off sticker. That's $9,200 off on a $35,300 sticker. The car is has every feature you can think of.
Hey Cameron. Great Review. I am very surprised at the missing HID or LED headlamp option. At 36k, that should be standard. Also, the interior color shows off too much cost cutting. Maybe if the interior was black, it would hide it a little better.
canonlybeme4life The previous gen Malibu had HID headlights on the top trim but not this one... That's one thing that's always bugged me about GM they're never consistent with anything especially in the interior in some models...
if that is the same 2.0 turbo that was in the Cobalt SS then it should run really really good, I had a cobalt with the 2.0L turbo and it was fast and got great gas mileage.
I bought one about a month and a half ago and have had a lot of trouble. It's been in the shop more than I've had it at home quite upset with it so far.. when the car works as intended its amazing but so far its been a pain in my ass
@Camerons Car Reviews no xenon hid's makes it feel more basic. you would think it would have the xenon's like the impala does when it's dressed up in the right trim
It depends on your needs and wants. You can also buy a used Escalade for that. But that may not be what someone wants. You could buy 2 kia rios for that and still have change left over.
um, i could not even load up one past 35K thats with every single option + the sun roof. the C class starts at right about 40K you're a long way off a base no optioned C class which comes with less options than a base model Korean car.
I said CLA, not C class. Cameron did a review on Nov 14th, of the CLA, I'd much rather get that car on looks alone. CLA's start in the very low 30K range. Also take a look at that sticker he showed on this Malibu, it was 36k, um, that's crazy. So yes they can be loaded up past 35k apparently.
CLA lol, a small car? you're comparing a mid sized car with every single option to a bare bones small car? hmmm not only having driven many CLA's their interiors are not much better than many of the MID sized entries in this segment, its basically's mercs entry level car with the cheapest interior and lowest build quality in the merc line up. just because it has a merc badge does not make fo leather and plastics any less those things ;)
is that an empty light above the turn signal? (white spot) looks like there's no bulb whatsoever. If so, what's the point of Chevy putting it there? I also noticed this on the new Cruze.
It is just the packages with the Premier trim, we have an identically optioned car to this, only ours is nightfall gray with the black leather, and ours says 2LZ on the sticker, but if you look at a Premier that is not fully loaded it is a 1LZ.
1.I hate their ugly layout of website and poor quality when looking up specs and especially build & price. You already know this if you been other brands' websites 2. Too many damn packages to add up to get specific features on American manufacturers when compared to some other brands where you can see clear and easy trim levels etc.

id gap u in my focus
I just had a Malibu as a rental car and I was thoroughly impressed.

trekOCLVone had mine almost a year love it.
Would you prefer the 2017 chevrolet Malibu premier or 2017 dodge charger sxt plus?
Thanks for the comment. That is a beautiful car.
love the interior, much nicer than what you get in the fusion or Camry with more soft touch points and far better connectivity.
Can’t imagine That interior when it’s gets dirty!
better looking interior over the fusion

Good job! Very thorough! Thanks!

Taz Man they are different engines. I really want one of these cars in black
0-60 6.1 sec. Not bad for a family sedan.
AtomBoy And it's a conservative figure. Seen a bunch of videos where it hits 60 at around 5.6-5.8s.
I didn't know malibus come with black wheels too. I saw that red one.
It looks like now a special option from the dealer. A set of black 18'' or 19'' rims are probably $2-3K (most likely without TPMS sensors or tires).
2fast4all awl well
the carpenters Christmas music in the back ground
Good review. Is the 2.0T faster than it's competion, Camry and Accord?
Has this car had any known trouble areas and how is reliability?
I bought one about a month and a half ago and have had a lot of trouble. It's been in the shop more than I've had it at home quite upset with it so far.. when the car works as intended its amazing but so far its been a pain in my ass
@alexanderkennedy2969 Goodluck I got rid of it. Sad too I loved it.
Why the hell Camry still doesn't have Android auto and car play?
what vehicle makes the siren sound

Nice review
I just watched another review of this same car and that guy said the Malibu Premier had HID headlights.
Fusion sport is a blast to drive
36K and it still has a trunk.
You can get a dam nice much more useful CUV or SUV for 36K.
It depends on your needs and wants. You can also buy a used Escalade for that. But that may not be what someone wants. You could buy 2 kia rios for that and still have change left over.
I didn't know Malibus were this damn expensive. Might as well move up to a base luxury car.
um, at 35K just about fully loaded not sure what kind of Luxury car you're going to get LOL
This car was 36k though. According to that sticker price he showed, if I seen it right. At that price point, might as well get a Mercedes CLA

I wondered the same thing when I bought my car. Kinda lame IMHO but then again new design..
I mean thanks for the video.
I need a new car
Hope you bought a car.
I heard a crazy rumor that Chevy Malibu premier has a top speed of 154 mph which is insane for a family sedan
You haven't seen the Titanium fusion then.
Its not 2LZ. Its the Premier trim.
If it is, then i never knew it existed.
I agree.
Jiten Roy there is no 2LZ trim, per Chevrolet's website.
Jiten Roy the one in the video is a 2LT. It is the only other trim level besides the premier that has the 2.0L engine
The sticker say 2LZ but the trunk lid has the Premier badge. Same thing
It is just the packages with the Premier trim, we have an identically optioned car to this, only ours is nightfall gray with the black leather, and ours says 2LZ on the sticker, but if you look at a Premier that is not fully loaded it is a 1LZ.
for 36 you could get a Chevy Colorado 4wd
Kaka

I'd rather have a Mazda 6
Ford's leading the way.
