    Very good video however I expect to see the low and high pressure after filling and how the temperature could achieve.

      I'll have to ask the new owner about that specifically but I talked to him last evening and he said the car is doing well! So hopefully that means the AC is working well, too.

    You don't need xenon headlight washers in the states?

      @TheNewMechanic  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      They were optional and I believe most people in the US didn't add the option.

      Sounds like you have a leak somewhere. You'll need to find that leak. Could be a bad o-ring or something else.

    What was the total cost vs just paying a mechanic to do it? The labor cost would probably cost the same as all the parts together. so I'm guessing the job would cost $900-1,100 dollars. I'm skeptical on attempting this fix myself not because of the complexity but because hassle. I've taken apart the engine to replace the vanos and basic mechanic work myself. But I'd like your feedback on whether it would save money/piece of mind working on it myself vs paying a mechanic. Also great content. I appreciate your work!

      Depends on what's important to you: Paying a mechanic, they'll fix it and it'll work and it should work for a while. But they'll replace anything and everything as it's cheaper to do that than to find the issue (labor cost vs cost just to replace stuff). Also, it may be easier to handle any warranty claims if something does break. Also it should be done same day or next day.
      With that said, many parts you buy yourself will still have a warranty (as long as you follow their warranty rules, example: the compressors require a bunch of other parts to be replaced and the lines to be flushed) and you could potentially re-do your AC system twice yourself for the same cost as paying a mechanic to do it once. But you have to do all the work and it's possible your car will be down and out for a few days or weeks. Also if you have a leak, you'll have to find the leak, purge your system, fix the leak, and then refill with refrigerant.
      In either case, you'll having working AC. Personally, I enjoyed working on the car and I couldn't justify spending the money on a [real] mechanic to do it.
