    I have learned so much from this video, TY. However, out of the old compressor, I pulled,2.5 oz out of it, the new however had only ,5 oz. I, put in, 3 oz, like you did and filled all the other pieces like you. Hope, I am correct

    Getting ready to do this on my E36. Specs are 4.7oz for the whole system. Going to add 1.5oz to compressor, 1oz to condenser and 1oz to dryer. I didn’t see him add oil to the components in the video. Did I miss it?

    What does that flap do at 16:41? Please help, mines were both closed and I am having an issue where the driver's side is giving cold air ( Left vent and left middle vent) and my passengers vent Right middle and right vent is giving air but it's not cold), what could it be ??
    Very Detailed video, earned a subscriber !!

    • @TheNewMechanic
      @TheNewMechanic  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey @Leo Dagne! Glad you liked the video! I believe the flaps are used to simply let fresh air in (open) or recirculate cabin air (closed). I would still expect you to get cold air on both sides even if one flap is open and one flap is closed but that does sound like the most reasonable explanation to me. I found this video that is EXTREMELY detailed about how the AC unit works: th-cam.com/video/7lNKZbmZubg/w-d-xo.html. It might give you some ideas as to what could be happening.

    Found a used e46 ac compressor Can it fit X5 e53 after interchange the magnetic clutch assembly??tqvm

    • @TheNewMechanic
      @TheNewMechanic  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Honestly, I have no idea but the x5 e53 did come with the m54 so it should at least bolt right up to the block. No idea about the clutch or wiring.

    Could you help me please, I have problems with my air conditioning blowing cold and suddenly it starts blowing hot after about five minutes of blowing hot again it blows cold again and so on, I have gone with some mechanics, but they all tell me no They want to work on BMW cars, I don't have money to take it to an agency for this type of car and I don't know what to do. I ask you for your help, thank you very much.

      @TheNewMechanic  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey! Thanks for watching! I'm not entirely sure what could be wrong. If you haven't done any work on the AC system at all, then it could be anything really. I would start with an AC Manifold Gauge set and watch to make sure the AC compressor is working properly. If the compressor is working, you can watch the pressures and it should give you a clue as to what the system is doing. Good luck with figuring it out!

    How much pag oil is on the whole system??

    • @TheNewMechanic
      @TheNewMechanic  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      My compressor came pre-filled with the oil the system needed and I didn't add any. So I'm not 100% sure how much you'd need.

  • @michael_e46s21
    @michael_e46s21 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have a question : when you vacuum the system does it effect the lag oil in the system?? Or it won’t effect it ?

    • @TheNewMechanic
      @TheNewMechanic  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not an expert/professional but my understanding is that pulling a vacuum won't affect the PAG oil. Your new compressor should give details on how to oil the system. It's been a while but I believe my compressor came pre-oiled and it simply had me dump some out and distribute it throughout the system. Then pull a vacuum.
      Thanks for watching! Sorry for the delayed response!

      Great work you two :)
      Have a technical question: do you flush the system/purge it with old compressor/valve/ac cooling system on, or you can use cleaning fluid also on the brand new parta with pag oil in it? Cheers
