    Today we'll be looking at a couple Snapper EZ Speed (or Easy Speed) self propelled lawn mowers.
    These mowers are quite unique, as they use a Friction Wheel Drive System, which is similar to that of a snow blower!
    I'll be explaining how this drive system works, as well as comparing some differences between a customers Residential model, and my own personal Commercial model.
    The drive bearings and bushings on the Residential mower need to be replaced, and I filmed the repair video separately, so I'll upload that at a later date.

    If anyone notices quality issues with this video let me know by replying to this comment. TH-cam says "HD version is still processing" but it seems to play fine in 1080p/60 format. I think it's just a glitch in TH-cam studio, thanks.

      Awesome explanation Mr. EP My video defaulted to 360p but I was able to choose 1080p

    Nice comparison video and just for the subscribers information the commercial unit came in totally disassembled non running condition for $10 off the price of a functional fully serviced self propelled mower you were selling. What a deal and this is the only self propelled mower the OLD MAN uses because we have it set to a slow walking speed.

    Just watched your other video about the hex shaft bearing replacement and subbed! This one is awesome as well! Came by my commercial model secondhand and now needs repair. Thank you so much for all the information and the excellent video, again!! 👍

    After Eliminator performance video on the system. It took a couple days to fix my Snapper. It was in bad shape when I acquired it....its awesome to mow with

    Good information.
    I had the residential model. The tension spring broke so often, I bought them 2 at a time. Then after about 5 years, other springs, belts, linking rods and drive wheels began to fail.
    The complexity of the drive is the reason I bought a Toro. It has been relatively trouble free.

    Snapper has used that system for years on there push mowers and there older riding mowers we had both when I was growing up.

    My snapper drive system chatters from speed 2 to on. I've replaces the ring and all bearings and the slide bushings look fine. I've ordered a new hex shaft and ring socket with ring installed. I have two new belts but haven't installed those as I don't think the others are bad. This snapper is about 15 years old.

    The same system they had 40 years ago, on the old 10 hp rear engine mowers!

    Good day Boy that seems pretty reliable. You know on farm we would anything that went around, this unit could be oil, greased. Thanks Looks like a good strong unit.

    Great video. I am very familiar with this mower. Have repaired my 10yr old few times - bearings etc. Question is I have never done any work on the transmission. Works great but always thought replacing or adding 00 grease would be good. Wondering your thoughts on that. Thanks!

    The commercial mower your showing doesn't look anything like my commercial 21 with a Kawasaki FJ 180v. The friction drive wheel on mine is steel with replaceable rubber ring. Yours appears to be the residential ez speed with the Briggs and Stratton

    Where do I buy the drive belt? What size and make is the belt?

    • @EliminatorPerformance
      @EliminatorPerformance  ปีที่แล้ว

      Google your model number, type parts diagram after that. Once you find the drive diagram, get the part number for your belt. Then search for that part number on the Internet. Maybe Amazon or eBay, or a local small engine repair shop

    I see you can not run the lawnmower in revers like a snowblower, because the fri ion disc can not move over centre of frictioplate

    • @EliminatorPerformance
      @EliminatorPerformance  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes no reverse, as the friction wheel doesn't cross over the center to the other side of the friction plate

    My dad bought a little poulan pro rear engine rider with a friction disk drive system. What a joke! Something is always breaking on this thing and parts are hard to source. It's still not right.
