  • Finally replaced the Drive Belt on the latest Snapper Easy Speed Lawn Mower. Not a bad job didn't have to take off anything on the drive wheel area as expected. The protective belt plate came off better than expected with a little help of heat on the bolts. You do have to unbolt the engine and slid it back to replace the belt from that pulley. Also cleaned off the Drive wheel which was a bit rusty with a wire wheel on the drill. Next we will give it a try.

Thank you, a friend gave me one of those older models with the idler pulley like you showed. When he gave it to me I thought the problem was it wouldn't' run but after I got it running I found it wouldn't move either. The idler was on the other side and doing nothing when I got it and i couldn't determine from exploded views where it was supposed to be but your shot of your older model was just the ticket for me. Got the idler moved around about 180 degrees and I have it back working again.

I did the same thing myself, remove the drive kit to replace the belt before I even order the new one, trying to put it back once the new belt delivered and didn’t fit/work, after watching the first few seconds I can tell how it should be installed

I know this is an older video and not sure if this would work on this model but on my older 21" Snapper instead of loosening the engine bolts I just remove the spring that holds the rubber disc wheel to the flat metal drive disc and then loosen one nut under the deck that holds the drive disc down and then I am able to slip the belt out from under the drive disc and remove and install new belt in reverse order. Put the belt over the crank pulley and then under the drive disc onto that pulley and lower the drive disc back into the hole in the deck, put the nut back on and tighten, put spring back on the rubber disc wheel and your done!

much harder to do this way on this desighn but can still be done

@@super20dan actually I just did it that way just now and it is easy. Good to take that disc off and inspect it anyway. The bearing on the bottom side of the disc is probably in need of replacement or at a minimum cleaning. Just make sure you align the bolt properly when tightening. There is a square hole that it has to align with. Alignment is done with a flat head and the the slot at the end of the threaded shaft. Thanks!

I just did this to one Snapper this weekend. What a chore it was, lining the belt and tensioner pulley..... Looks like your mower is missing the idler pulley??? There is a spring that pulls on this arm that has the pulley at the other end. Or maybe my older white handlebar Snapper had one and yours doesn't? Yeah just like the other mower you showed.

Hi Cristian no not at all. The only time I have felt any vibration has been when the blade just needed balancing. That would be felt no matter where the self-propelled was set. Just sounds like it’s within the self-propelled unit the tension spring are you hearing any noise from this.

How did u get those engine bolts back on without dropping that motor on the ground?

I'm really surprised there is no spring loaded idler on this model mower

I was going to ask the same thing. I have one in my shop that I believe is missing a few things. I need better views at these mowers especially where the secondary spring goes for the idler pulley.

so wrong! best thing snapper ever did. i use these for a living and the old ones used to throw off the belt all to easy. a real pain to put back on . this desighn is so far better . belt dosnt come off and pulls better also. belt last 10x longer also..

How did you get the belt over the drive shaft pulley? The belt is so tight I can't get it over. I have the proper belt, too.

That's why he removed the engine mounting bolts, so he could move the engine enough to allow some slack for installing the new belt. Another poster above described a better way to install the new belt WITHOUT removing the engine mount bolts. I'm going to attempt this myself on a Snapper Easy Speed I got for $10. It runs great, but one drive wheel was broken ($37 for a new metal wheel) and the lower drive belt has stretched so bad that it doesn't drive the friction wheel now. I'm going to try and install the new belt by putting it on the engine crank pulley first (after removing the blade of course) and then feed it through the opening in the deck. You then have to remove a bolt (maybe two) and the spring on the bracket that holds the friction drive wheel in place to get new belt underneath it, and onto that pulley. We'll see how that goes, once I get my new belt from Amazon.

    Hi
    What is the belt size?

    • @kebo57
      @kebo57 หลายเดือนก่อน

The belt is 3/8" x 24 1/2". Yeah, this is 3 years too late lol, but may help someone else.

You started the video using the older mower but maybe it's too complicated for you, so you turned to the newer one. My 10yr old grandson could put a new belt on that. Get with the program.

no way a 10 yr old can do these belt changes.
