  • This Snapper Ninja mower is in great shape with a Honda engine, but the drive disc is rusted in place, plus I want to get it starting with one pull.

    I just rebuilt a 1993 Snapper with a 6hp Quantum. 170.00 in parts....but I really wanted to do it. Both bearings. And the plastic ones for the small bar. New disc. New dive wheel. New bearing for disc. New snap rings. New blade. New mulching plug. They are FAST on speed 6. Plus engine. New valves. New springs. Head gasket breather gaskets. Both belts.. Just a great mower I Think.

    I've got an original one built in 1991 McDonagh Georgia by the original Fuqua Industries. Those old Snappers are like little Self propelled tanks

      I think this is an early 1990s model. Have to look it up.

      @@SmallEngineDIY look down from the handle and on the back of the mower body there should be a decal with the build location and date. That's where Fuqua Industries tagged them all

    Nice job, the last on I saw was in 73. Curb find. Put under the hood on my VW and drove home looking out the window. Just a few streets from my house back then.

    Thank you ! My neighbor discarded one of these and this is one of its problems. I could not tell if you were squatting or sitting on a small stool but would like to mention at 80 yrs old I’ve had a lot of back pain. Have learned to do some stretching that’s helped some but the thing that does me the most good is squatting. Just a couple minutes in the AM , same at nite. I hope that helps anyone reading this. Thanks again for taking this critter apart, I’ll try that now 😅

    I just took mine similar to a local shop as my self propelled was slipping. I could do it myself but they were going to replace both belts and a back wheel and had all the parts in stock. Said it would be about 140.00. I said have at it as I there is not much comparable today as far as quality of these and the rear wheel self propelled with the bagger is an excellent system.

    I have a newer one, with a Briggs 9 ft pound engine that has an oil filter.
    Anyway, it seems like the differential is locked?
    This meaning, it turns fine, forwards, or backwards. But when you turn the mower, it is locked like a solid axle. In drag race terms, it is like a locked, welded, or spool on the rear axle.
    I have 3 older Snapper 21 inch mowers with the same or similar self propelled system. Those all let the wheels move freely when making a turn.

  • @geraldalfano5581

    That is a HI LIFT Snapper known for its bagging capability not mulching. That deck is not conducive to mulching with that X mulching NINJA blade. I had a Snapper Ninja mulcher mower way back when and it had a dedicated domed mulching deck. Why Briggs and Stratton (currrent owners of Snapper) would do that conversion is misguided. I would put a high lift blade on it and put it back the way it was designed to be. Did the same job a while back and replaced the hex shaft bearings. They are cheap and readily available. Good job and video as always.

    I had one few years back , big 6
    It had a Briggs engine and the bag but no mulch or side discharge. This year I got one in much worse condition with a Briggs older quantum engine 5HP I think. Only side discharge but it’s wheels are in very bad shape. I haven’t gotten into it. Story behind it was they bought it at a estate sale. And was used until a few years ago. Think it’s a early 1990s model .

    Looks like a great well built older mower. Don't make them like that any more. That is a lot of dust when you fire up the mower. If I were you I would think about getting a 4x8 sheet of plywood and either laying it flat on the dirt or put short feet on it so it would be easy to get mowers on it. That way you would not be breathing in all that dust. A mask would help also. Save your health because once it is gone you will not get it back. Thanks for the videos.

    • @SmallEngineDIY
      @SmallEngineDIY  ปีที่แล้ว

      A mask would definitely help. I have a piece of 10x10 carpet that might work or just build a deck underneath the carport.
