      I hate to say it, but this guy is doing everything he can to hide the imperfections of the S23 camera and make it look good. Lee Zavits uses the perfect lighting setup IN THE STUDIO, and literally 99.9999% of people who take pictures with their phones don't have professional lighting set up. In typical everyday situation like indoors (low light), or even in a sunny day phone cameras simply drop the ball, especially on a sunny day, because phone lenses simply cannot block the sun's rays well enough, so you get EXTREMELY FLAT AND WASHED OUT photos as a result. S23U samples here look better to some people simply because samsung postprocessing is adding excessive ammount of sharpenning to the otherwise soft looking image, while there's no excessive sharpening on Sony A7 samples. This guy should show 1:1 crops in this video and then people could get the idea about the real difference in resolution and details. I recommend people to search for galaxy S23 ultra vs fuji GFX100S comparison here on youtube if they really want to see a fair comparison because the difference in 1:1 crops is huge. The S23U has 200MP but the image is more than 10x less detailed than 100MP mirrorless camera. IMO even cheap and old 12MP DLSR camera from 15 years ago offers far better quality than S23U camera (lifelike colours under typical lighting conditions, far better dynaminc range, way less noise, real DOF instead of extremely fake AI imitation, hot shoe if you want to bring good quality lighting everywhere you go, variety of lenses). The S23U is a good phone. However, no one in their right mind should think that the cameras in this phone can compete with professional cameras.

    Keep in mind that Lightroom will be integrated now in S23 Ultra, so all your raw images will
    be opened up by default in LR. Which is nice. Can confirm that Ultra make lips unrealistically pink, even when you turn Scene Recognition off. But its easy to fix in post. I just wish Samsung go for more realistic color whiteout adding to much contrast to the jpegs. But looking forward to see what I can do with 50 and 200mp images in LR when my Ultra will be delivered. As a retired pro photographer (my own business for17yrs) I recently sold my Nikon dslr and all the gear and strictly using the new S23Ultra exclusively for personal use. I'd have no aversion to using it on a semi-pro basis if I decide to get back into the biz in the near future. I upgraded from the S21Ultra (which was also a good camera) - but I'm just blown away by the capabilities of the S23 after having it just a few months now. Good job with the comparisons in your video. I'm 58 and started old-school with film back in the day and I still have difficulty wrapping my head around just how good the digital imaging has gotten on these comparatively tiny cameras these days. To think my first digital point-'n-shoot cam back when digital first hit the market was an Olympus D340r with a whopping 1.2mP sensor, lol. We've come a long way so quickly.

    It's a very cool video, thank you. But you missed doing the ultimate and most important test which is to shoot at the exact same distance and framing one shot with the Sony and one shot with the S23 Ultra at 200MP.. then compare the actual detail between both. This is what I really would like to see because this is actually the real highlight of the new phone and not doing that test leaves out what this phone is really different about from the previous version.

  • @BikiniModelFitness

    I like that you did an indoor test in not ideal conditions. These other camera channels mainly compare them outside and in other good light conditions to make the phone look as good. in this video you can clearly see the pro camera is better.

      indoor studio with pro lights. not ideal conditions? man, the ignorance. under this condition pixel pro, iphone pro won't do any worse if not better.

    these shots from Samsung are very sharp and very detailed , doesnt looked oversharpened at all which is weird for a samsung. I'm not sure if you are shooting in RAW and being post processed or are these shots straight out of the camera JPEGs?

    they both look phenomenal specially since its a phone vs a pro camera. the s23u definitely has more sharpening. Sony's colours are fantastic and that bokeh is amazing.

  • @chuckalakatoob
    @chuckalakatoob ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Around 2:00 you mention the colour is a bit different on the. S23 Ultra - I think by default the screen displays VIVID image tones, which can be changed in the display options.

    • @IIISentorIII
      @IIISentorIII ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Why would it matter if the display is set to vivid if the actual JPG color is different.
      I mean seriously, you are not the brightest are you?

    • @chuckalakatoob
      @chuckalakatoob ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @IIISentorIII he literally said in 2:11 that when he edited them side by side it looked the same.
      Also, many photographers and photo editers comment: that if you're taking raw, colour accurate photos on Samsung, you should switch the display from vivid to normal because that's more accurate to the actual photo (as samsung tends to oversaturate its display to make colours pop)
      So, instead, why don't you actually watch the video and do some research before commenting instead of trying to sound smart?

    I have never saw such a great camera comparison this is how we should compare it and S23 ultra and Sony A7 we really are unable to see any difference between these two of them only slightly S23 ultra in some photos done some improper edge detection that is too minor we cant also figure out but overall S23 ultra is really close means too close to camera already its beaten the iphone's potraits too I am impressed from that time only . Good job Samsung is moving to professional level photography day by day and reaching new highs.

    It would be even more interesting if you compared portraits in normal indoor light (no studio lighting) and subject that doesn't stand completely still (a child?). This would be more close to a normal photo situation and also where a dedicated camera would shine. Thank you for the video though 👍👍😎

I've been watching these camera comparision and reviews for a long time and your take on the portrait mode is nothing but exciting. So it would mean a lot to me if you can manage a xiaomi 13 pro to test its portrait capabilities.

    Phone cameras have come a long way.. in great lighting and with a pleasing backdrop you can get excellent photos..
    Mirrorless cameras are for tricky situations as shooting from long distance.. I tell so many people not to bother buying a camera when what you wanna shoot can be done on most modern phones.
    For me phones aren’t good enough yet.. plenty of times I’m out and I wish I had my camera on me when I see how the iPhone photo turns out

    When lighting is favourable, a phone cam can be very close to a pro cam. When the light is dim and the object is moving, the results could be hugely different without using a flash.

    I feel that the pro cameras have a quality of reproducing the original texture without compromising the sharpness. Whereas, the phones kind to make the textures more "sharp" and not in a good way, but with that said, the S23U is amazing. Can't wait to see what computational photography does 5 years down the line. Kudos to Samsung!
