    After having a little bit of bad luck with Tesla in the past (details in the video) I got to live with a Model S for a week. Charging a Tesla comes with the unique experience of using their Superchargers so I had to visit one of them too!
    Would I buy one after my experience? Watch on to find out...

    After a little over a month with a Model 3, it's really the sum of all the small things that make it so nice to own. Like not ever having to carry car keys. The way that the music quietens when you open the door, so as not to annoy people. Driving with a single gear. Regenerative braking. Parking and sitting around for a while without having to worry about the 12V battery running low. Getting charging notifications on your phone. Lying in bed and boosting the charge to 90% before a longer journey, sentry mode to catch the idiot who dented your car and didn't leave a note. All of those tiny things, and then the wall of torque, perfect traction, charging at 150kW+ at Ionity. It's a truly great everyday car. Tesla will not be this much better than the competition forever, but right now they're really hard to beat.

    The 2020 Tesla models S and X currently come with free unlimited Supercharging. There is a new SC station with V3 chargers 5.5 freeway miles away so I just charge my new S there instead of at home. Trust me, free ‘fuel’ is nice. With a 391 mile range I charge it up to about 80% or about 312 mile although I charge it when it gets to about 15%.

    My questions for owners, and these are legit questions and not snark:
    1) Have you had negative experiences with Tesla’s customer service? I have heard numerous horror stories.
    2) Has the need to charge the car ever had a negative impact on your schedule?
    3) Was your car delivered on time and in good condition?
    4) Does the lack of spare tire impact you at all?

    Don't get the storage issue inside - no centre console or door bins, why? And a space for your phone. Mechanically, apart from possible reliability issues, the Tesla is top of the efficiency tree in terms of Kw/mile and so on. The car also looks quite sharp. In the UK the charging infrastructure is the best. I want one!

    • @hiloviking
      @hiloviking 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bob Rose - There is a center console storage space for drinks (adjustable), another compartment that has two USB ports, one used for wireless phone charging, otherwise you can use both for other things, like a thumb drive for the Sentry mode to record video. Also a cigarette lighter port to use for assorted things. Wireless charging started with the 2020 model for the S.

      What "big boys" are producing anything of interest? They are all almost a decade behind and the longer you own a Tesla it keeps widening the gap with constant updates while you sleep. Is there a brand that is even likely to still be in business in 5 years? They do not have the 5-6 years needed to get a serious development program going.
      I know the US brands will not be around since they recently cut back on their announced plans, and they are deeply in debt, with declining sales. I have driven the eTron, iPace and a few Leaf and they all seem so uninspired, low tech and sort range, dealership hassles to deal with, lacking updates only done at dealerships, crude 10 years behind tech and polish of the software.
      It appears that only Chinese and Korean companies are taking BEV seriously. The features, connectivity, update, full self-driving, long battery life, long-range, and total top to bottom vertical integration meals everything meshes well. All the others simply buy subsystems from other suppliers so nothing is optimized between the rest of the subsystems.
      The only Tesla I have not driven is the original Roadster and Model Y. It is supposed to be the best balance between practicality, performance, and cost. Where I am, charging at home is $0.17/kw/hr so it is hard to even think of the higher cost of ownership of old fashion fast depreciating cars. I used to be a car nut and had a large collection of restored Maserati GTs from the 50s-1975, and all told, 64 cars but now only have one mid-engine, Bora Maserati, in storage and have no daily driver because of moving to a country where public transportation is great and cheap. I am very happy without a car right in the heart of a beautiful Eastern European city. But I have ordered a CyberTruck and will look seriously at the Roadster II when it is available.
