Couple of obligatory fun facts: the scene with the disinfectant is a real reaction from Billie Piper, as she wasn’t told this was going to happen. Secondly her accent as Cassandra is much much closer to Piper’s real accent vs her accent she uses for Rose.
Theres also one scene where Cassandra traps Rose and looks to transfer. The Wide shot has Billie Piper just standing there. I think they missed the visual affects for the scene
I've heard mixed claims on the disinfectant scene. Most say this, but I've seen some say that she did know that it was coming, just that it was meant to be warmer but their heaters weren't working.
Cassandra temporarily going into the body of a 'flesh' turned out to be a good thing. It brought back some of her humanity. She finally understood that life is temporary.
So Billie Piper is actually quite posh irl. Rose's cockney accent is actually put on. So her voice as Cassandra is actually far closer to her natural. David does something similar in the next episode.
Cassandra calling herself beautiful and then dying in her own arms is such a perfect ending for her self-obsessed character and yet so touching at the same time
Thanks, Emme! ⏳ Since you asked: "In British slang, *chav* is a young person who wears fashionable sportswear or flashy jewelry but is regarded as badly behaved or as having lower-class taste." So, it's an insult. But here it's a joke since 'Rose' is insulting herself.
If used by a higher class, 'chav' generally means 'lower-class'. If used by another member of the lower class (who doesn't consider themselves a chav), 'chav' means 'lower-class AND an A******'. Both uses usually imply criminal alongside it.
Cassandra saying goodbye to herself would come under what is sometimes called a 'Bootstrap paradox'. Let me explain. Cassandra explains that Chip was modelled off of her favourite pattern. When Cassandra (as Chip) says 'You look beautiful' to her younger self, she remembers Chip's skin tone pattern and uses it in the future. Question is: "Who came up with the pattern in the first place?"
You should watch the clip of David winning a special recognition award. He didn't know it was happening and he gets so happy watching some of his past costars talk about working with him. There are some DW spoilers and I dont know how far ahead you are so maybe wait a little while, but it's worth a watch.
Glad someone added this. It’s right near Roald Dahl Plass (seen in Boom Town and other Doctor Who upcoming) and the former Doctor Who Experience. I don’t know if the hospital floors were there too, but they didn’t have to do much to change the Foyer into the hospital lobby. They use it in season 4 too at least once that I know of.

"I'm just an american" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 This episode was a very interesting start for the season... The ending with Cassandra meeting herself was bittersweet and, by far, the highlights of this episode were the body swap Cassandra did with the Doctor and Rose, it was so funny and also really show some great acting from both David Tennant and Billie Piper. Great reaction, Emme!
The idea for this episode was partly Billie Piper's, as she wanted to stretch her acting abilities and play someone other than Rose. She suggested the body swap to Russell T. Davies, who loved the idea and added the Cassanda subplot to this story.
Never thought they’d bring back the “bitchy trampoline” and make me actually feel a bit of sympathy for her in the end. This show can do surprising wonders. Face of Boe is one of my favorite recurring aliens in the early seasons of New Who
That's usually the way it is, isn't it? Reminds me of a common complaint from Encanto was the apology. A dancing house with bedrooms bigger on the inside, prophesies imprinted on holographic plates, and a girl juggling livestock was ok but somebody saw the error of their ways is a bridge too far!

David Tennant as Cassandra is a trip. My two hearts beating out on samba. So many moving parts. I know you're looking, Rose, cuz I was in your head. Not going to tell you if he's looking back, though.
Not that she was ever 'bad' per se, but this was the episode that really sold me on Billie Piper as an actress. The way she switches back and forth between Rose and Cassaundra is hilarious and amazing. A lot of people don't know (or forget), Billie was a pop star (a la Britney Spears) before she got into acting. I think you can sometimes tell that she is still figuring it out in S1, but by S2 she really gives some outstanding performances.

I sobbed at Casandra’s death. Beautifully played.
Mickey and Rose are just really good friends by this point of the show... He's there for her when she needs him to be, but they are no longer a couple. Rose says she loves him... but you can love a good friend. I also really loved the play on words they used in this episode! Cassandra starts off by saying, "At last I can be revenged on that little B*tch", but Rose cuts in with "Bit rich, coming from you..." Later, Cassand talks about her first piece of skin came from her front... and her current one comes from her back. Rose says, "Right...so you're talking out of your a**", and Cassandra cuts in with, "Ask not..." Both of those were hilarious! It seemed like you were wondering about The Face of Boe. He was briefly in season 1, episode 2, where the doctor took Rose to see the end of the Earth. He was also seen on a TV screen in season 1, episode 7 (The Long Game)... where Cathica announced that he (Face of Boe) was pregnant! That last scene, as Lady Cassandra was yelling for help for Chip, and everyone was just ignoring her... I'd like to think that Lady Cass actually learned a little compassion at the very end...
I'm not so sure. I've heard she has other media and she's like a deadly con artist or something like that. I guess I'd be interested if there's other character development along the way. Even here she's looking out for herself. She probably wouldn't change the hospital system if she could get a cut of the profits. Though I do like the resolution of her character here.
