    Hi TMF... Nice to see that I'm not the only one for whom a "simple 2 min job" turns into a right faff! I enjoy watching all your videos... long may they continue. I agree that the Panigale is a jaw-dropping machine and the dark tint screen you've fitted really does improve the look. Good job.

    DO NOT FOLLOW THIS VIDEO! The two screws above headlights are fixed to a hex behind the fairing. If you take off the screws from the front, the two hex will drop behind the fairing and you will eventually have to remove the front fairing, headlights to take it out. The fact is you need to remove the headlights and fairing to complete the installation anyway but you would not want to seek the hex behind bunch of cables. I doubt if the two lower screws are really fixed in the video!!

    Enjoyable video. I had similar trickery swapping screen on a daytona. On a separate tangent--can't help but notice how the 899 looks like a puppy compared to the grandpa GS on the right! Really striking the different in size for two machines that essentially perform the same function.

      +Windy Run Yeah I know what you mean - you couldn't really get two more different motorcycles in every respect, they're the antithesis of each other....I love 'em both though. Thanks for stopping by, all the best - TMF.

    Hoping to change the screen on mine. One question I must ask is how did you not lose the rubber grommets that the bottom 2 T7 screws screw into? I've read they're easy to fall into the fairing. Looks like yours stayed in place?

    • @TheMissendenFlyer
      @TheMissendenFlyer  8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +aaron0288 The wonders of video editing Aaron - I lost 'em, had to bodge it, was a right faff - no idea why Ducati make it so difficult for the simplest of operations (I've changed out screens on bikes many times and this was bar far the most troublesome!!). Good luck and thanks for stopping by - TMF

      +TheMissendenFlyer Ah. Bugger. I think I'm going to remove the whole front fairing to do mine. What did you do in the end to get the screws back in?

      Hi great viv ! was Wondering this as well because i noticed when you removed the clear stock screen the bottom grommets were missing how did you eventually get the screws back in did you have to take off the entire upper headlight fairing? And also are those bottom grommets fitted inside the screen right like the top ones ? and not affixed to the plastic bracket?

    Wow, just changing the screen out for a tinted really does make the bike look a lot more mean, very nice! On a completely different note, I keep meaning to ask you about your flooring in the garage as I really like the look of it, what type of material is it? Hard wearing I assume? Any info would be good as thinking of emptying my garage this summer to work on improving the floor area. Thanks, Paul.

    • @TheMissendenFlyer
      @TheMissendenFlyer  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Mark Featherstone-Harvey Tell me about it!! ....in short it didn't go well, more faff and a bodge basically - the real way to fit a new screen to the Pani is to take the whole front top fairing off, talk about hassle!! Have you tried replacing the exhaust shield?? You have to remove the whole rear sub-frame!! Beautiful machines but not built for easy maintenance I fear!

    • @markfeatherstone-harvey3550
      @markfeatherstone-harvey3550 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +TheMissendenFlyer I've heard glueing the nuts to the bottom of the screen before refitting works, going to give that a try when I replace my screen... After ordering spare fixings!! It seems they are a sod to work on, tried adjusting the gear lever and no such luck, the bolts were so tight even the dealership gave up going trying to do it as the manual suggests!

      I'm 5' 6" (on a good day), and had a 1098. The height of the bike was never a problem (well, not much of a problem) as once you're a confident bike rider, you only really need to put one foot down, and if you're not a confident rider, you shouldn't be buying a superbike ;-) I couldn't contemplate a 1200GS though... ;-)

      @1SGM_Izzy 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is.... The same counterpart with the black rubber on, like the 2 on top, were there also. I just installed mine and guess where I found them... Inside the nose!!! When you loosen the bottom 2, the fall into the inside!!! I was lucky to b able to get them out with something thin and pointy. This install took me almost 2 hours. Fml!!!

    • @shaolin224
      @shaolin224 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I was going to say...the hardest part about the job is the two rubber nuts at the nose of the screen are not captured and will fall where ever they may...so how did you manage to screw the fronts on? Because on the vid it looks like you were screwing it into an empty hole

    • @JLeosnow1

      shaolin224 So, any tips on how to hold those lower front nuts in place while installing the new windscreen?

    • @shaolin224
      @shaolin224 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      John Leo, Hey John , this first time I did it I used superglue on the nuts and bolted it up until cured. Unscrew bolts and assemble. Being careful not to bump the glued screws on the nose. The 2nd time I did it, I just did how you were supposed to and took the whole front fascia off. Ive read forums on what angle to pull the nose off from 20 degrees upward to just straight back..mine was slightly downward and back from the press fit rubber grommet
