    Intro to probability experience is so relatable 😭 I HAD no choice but to take this course with a horrible professor to this day i still remember how miserable i felt because of him

    Hi, I think that a video where you show the main differences between data analyst and data scientist would be very interesting

    What would you say are the most essential courses to have taken in undergrad outside of Statistics, to be able to be admitted into a Statistics master's degree?

    • @ChristianGardner
      @ChristianGardner  ปีที่แล้ว

      What do you mean outside of statistics? Like adjacent but not necessarily a “Statistics” course?

    • @Peter-tr7gg
      @Peter-tr7gg ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ChristianGardner I just realized I worded it very wrong. I meant that for someone who is not studying Statistics or a very quantitative field for undergraduate studies, what would be the most essential courses or classes to take?

    • @ChristianGardner
      @ChristianGardner  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Peter-tr7gg no problem! I’d likely say intro statistics is most important as well as Atleast the first two calculus courses, maybe an introductory course in statistical modeling

    😂 I never met anyone who had a good linear algebra teacher.
    Even my textbook was bad. Instead of normal numbered chapters, they used acronyms for every section.

    Hey boss man got a question for you, I’m currently pursuing actuarial science and wanted to hear from you on how you felt while doing it. I’m aware that you ended up changing to stat, but what was the main driving factor behind that? Was it the tests? Or fear of automation? (I feel like this career is in the same area as stat, I don’t think automation is anything to be worried about) just wanted to hear your thoughts! Hope you have a wonderful day!

    • @ChristianGardner
      @ChristianGardner  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It was the exams 😂 I didn’t feel like taking 7 or whatever it is exams to be officially accredited.. I work with actuaries now in their 30’s still studying their butts off for exams

    • @ChristianGardner
      @ChristianGardner  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      But if that doesn’t bother you, both are good career options

    • @Blooeau
      @Blooeau ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ChristianGardner that’s definitely valid, I was just curious of what your outlook was. I’m currently in my second year and love data science as a whole so actuarial science is an enjoyable experience for me, but the tests are a bit daunting I won’t lie 😮‍💨😅

    Have you ever taken a real analysis course and a measure theory one?

  • @africanidiot1876
    @africanidiot1876 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hello, man. In statistics, is optimization theory needed as a prerequisite for either ANOVA, regression, stochastic modeling or time series? and by optimization theory I mean the actual course called optimization theory that uses a bunch of lenar algebra, not the caulculus concepts of setting derivatives equal to zero to find the critical points and Lagrange multipliers. Do you think Im gonna need it?

    • @ChristianGardner
      @ChristianGardner  ปีที่แล้ว

      I wouldn’t think so, I didn’t take a course like that

      Yes, there are jobs in the social sciences. I did an BS+MS in Applied Math and got a job as a Data Analyst at an R1 research university that paid 75k in 2021 and 95k in 2023 after a promotion. Not as much money as at a top tier company but the work environment is way more chill.
