It's awesome to see a fellow stats major out here on this platform. I am pursuing a master's degree in stats. Looking forward to see your future content :)

@@ChristianGardner Although you briefly touched upon this on the regret video, I would like to see what you loved/appreciated during your uni journey? Or simply, how can one make most of the university experience as a statistics student? What kind of opportunities do we have easier access in uni that actually matters in getting a job or getting a postgraduate? Thank you. 😇
@@dreaminderek9365 absolutely, I like that idea.. so a video on resources that can help make a successful statistics student and help land jobs in the future?
Your journey was definitely not straightforward but I'm glad you ended up with something you genuinely like and are interested in working with in the future. Also helps that tech jobs like data science pay really well so congrats! Personally I'm an applied maths student (like mathematical physics and computational maths) but I enjoy watching videos of people doing all other areas of maths out there. You're one of the few stats channels I've seen and this video was very interesting especially coming from someone also in maths but in a completely different branch. Just subscribed and I'll be on the lookout for your other videos 😊
I appreciate the kind words 🙏🏼 wishing you luck on your journey as well! Is there any sort of topics around statistics that sound particularly interesting to you?
Also a senior pursuing stat in Baruch college. Love to see your videos. Not many stat channels out there. Your doing a good thing brotha. Keep it up 👍👍👍
Great video! You seem like a really chll guy, love the vibes. I'm studying stats and computer science double major at UC Davis. Your channel has definitely been helpful when I was a little skeptical at times. Keep it up!
Also I'm in first year of my stats degree in India.. luckily my maths teacher is very good (he's from iiser). I'm getting calc, linear algebra... But unluckily my stats teacher is very bad at teaching.. looking at her CV she has 10 yrs of teaching experience.. but I think she should learn how to teach 😭... I feel stats is interesting (by learning from YT) but my teacher couldn't make it though.. I feel stuck..if you've any suggestions please drop how to self study stats major.
Is it wise to start internships like The Forage on my second year? I don't know R and we haven't done a course in machine learning yet but I'm good in python and c++ but I was just overwhelmed by all these concepts like web scraping and stuff, I just ended quitting the internship
@@ChristianGardner Alright thanks man. I have a software engineer job as my end goal so hopefully Statistics is great for that. Also wanna say that as a fellow PSU student your channel has been super helpful to me

Chris, i did math stats, anova and regression end of last year, this year i did stochastic and im currently doing time series. I want to deepen my stats knowlege any sugestions on which couses i should do next?
@@ChristianGardner well that's reassuring, my story is kinda similar to yours, im an ex computational bio student but dropped out due to stuff like chemistry etc. Do you mind sharing the info on what kind of strategy did your advisor suggest you when switching degrees? I mean im kinda lost rn so im just looking at my strong sides like earlier mentioned good numerical, calculational skills, also good memorization, but that gives me a quite broad spectrum lol im even considering history or finance. Would be very glad for sharing some info.
@@sosna1443 no strategy really, just ask what would be the easiest way to get all the core classes done for the major you are switching to so you can limit extra time in college! I ended up having to go an extra semester

I was just wondering if in your university you did proofs about the theories in math, like means and mode those type of things. :)
Yes .. sadly lol .. I did that in a class I had called mathematical statistics
@@ChristianGardner oh yeah bc my class of descriptive stats is pretty much just formulas, but calc and algebra is all about proofs lol

Hey man, I’m a CS reject at Penn State (couldn’t meet the entry to major) and I’m wondering if Statistics would be a good fallback option

Im very good at strictly numerical things and calculations, but pretty bad at calculus and linear algebra, would u say it would be a good fit?
