I have X1c in my "workshop" spare bedroom next to my bedroom. At night I set it to 50% speed and it's quiet enough to not bother me at all as long as the chamber fan isn't running. Full speed or with the chamber fan going full blast is a bit much to sleep with even with the doors closed.

Latest update from bambu and you can reduce the fans speed that makes a big difference. I have the X1 carbon and tried enclosing the entire thing and using sound deadening foam and had issues, it got so warm the filament would snap in the extruder and you had to dismantle it so that’s not an option I’m afraid.

      That is correct. Thanks.

Did you try adding quiet input or output fans to the outer enclosure? I'll be making an outer enclosure for my P1P and planned on doing that. A temp sensor that switches heating and cooling on/off at the temps you set is pretty cheap. To be safe, that would be a _very_ good idea. If you mount it on a table you can cut into, putting all this sort stuff there would be ideal, and if you're going to cover it all up, it's best to keep the outer enclosure as simple as possible so you can easily lift it off. But your comment convinced me I have to get the temp sensor before covering it up.

The X1 Carbon is a sports car. The fans were chosen for performance, reliability and speed. I have one of these on order and I’m not putting mufflers on my sports car. That’s just me. Great video and I realize some folks need quiet. To each their own.

while people say its noisy. i find the answer to this is well yes and no. i print with mine and i game in the same room its fine. i sleep in the next room it is loud enough to hear it in the background. but it isn't so loud that i can't sleep. if i were in an apartment then that might be a concern. honestly i hear my air filter that runs in the same room more the printer. also i have the x1 not the x1 carbon, it sounds about the same as far as i can tell in the video.

Why not put a lightweight 5 sided cube (with an open bottom) over the whole printer? You could make the cube from rigid foam (several thicknesses are available) or, better (but heavier), dual wall thin plywood with a soft foam middle. To keep it from getting too hot inside, extending the parts fan ducting so it draws outside air would be needed, and you'd need (in the case of the X1) a way to port the exhaust air out, but you could do that through the bottom of the outer enclosure. Since the printer has a camera, you could monitor its progress using that. I'm getting a P1P soon so I'll need some kind of noise mitigation. If you make it light enough, you really don't need to have a door since you can just lift it off. But I am going to have to put some sort of exhaust near the top since the P1P wasn't designed for a tight enclosure.

    • @75echo
      @75echo  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Thats an idea. i do however have some good news, since the last firmware update Bambu has tweaked the fan settings so it no longer just runs at 100% and there is now aseting to adjust the rpms.

I think being able to hear the motors or the tool head moving over the model is not likely over the fans which could be upgraded to something like a Noctua fan to lower the sound. I would try replacing those fans with higher quality fans. Even try installing an additional fan, so that the fans don't work so hard and don't rev so high. I would not use concrete, as that could make it worse. I would use soft material. Like a a rubber mat or 3D printed TPU feet pads placed under the printer to help dampen the vibration and reduce the noise reverberation. You could also try 3D printing acoustic tiles, that you could mount on the inside of the printer.

Another video I saw showed how to install self adhesive sound dampening material typically used for noise insulation in cars into the shell of the X1. I’m also thinking the same would work for the P1P if you print the “armor” side panels, but you’d also need to print a top for it. Personally, I plan to build a box with a “sandwich” of hardy board and the sound insulation as three of the walls, and a plexiglass/acrylic front door. If needed, I will add usb-powered 120/140mm fans for intake/exhaust.

    • @MOVIEKICKS
      @MOVIEKICKS 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@75echo Actually I downloaded the Bambu slicer to compare to PrusaSlicer. For a model I'm printing now the Bambu Labs X1C print time is 6h57m in Standard mode whereas the Prusa mk4 w/ Input Shaper will print the same part in 6h47m so the mk4 is faster and the X1C in Standard mode is probably louder than the mk4 based on the reviews I've seen. According to the Bambu Labs forum the X1C Silent mode prints at 50% speed so it would print substantially slower than the mk4. Bambu Labs warns about impacting print quality when printing at Sport or Ludicrous mode for a reason. Standard mode on the X1C is likely to give the best quality comparison to what the mk4 will pump out; although from what I've seen from a TH-camr the mk4 with Input Shaping gives slightly better prints than the X1C in Standard mode. Therefore I see no advantage to the X1C over the mk4 unless I need multi-material printing, but then I give up Prusa's proven reliability over time and great same-day customer service. It also seems like Prusa prints slightly faster than the X1C if you leave in bed leveling for both printers at the start of the print and use generic filament. Of course Bambu Labs offers their own brand of filament which they say you can print faster with, but I have yet to see a quality comparison using their own branded filament at the faster print speeds. After extensive research I just bought an mk4 and glad I did. Thank you for the discussion as it has really helped me to do my research and make my decision.

I have to somewhat disagree with you to some extend, you can watch TV in the same room with it in and hear the TV just fine, if the room door is is closed it is difficult to hear the printer in the rest of the house, if you live next to an airport it’ll be 1/10 of the sound. I have mine sit in the corner in the family room in the middle of the house. I run prints all night long and it doesn’t bother anyone. It does sit against the wall with the fireplace the TVs over the fireplace. I have no issues hearing the TV while it is printing. I normally print regular mode with no issues. The first time the nozzle cleaned, it scared the heck out of me. I thought something broke, but I figured it was just the wiper and got used to it.

@@75echo no I think it’s which direction you point the door the other three sides produce very little noise so as long as the doors not pointing into the middle of the room, the printer gets much quieter if it’s pointed along the sidewalk. If I rotate the printer, and have the door point towards the middle of the room, It does get very noisy. Currently with it pouring it along the wall My TV has 20 volume adjustments and it is on number 4 to 6 I am sitting about 5 feet from the printer is between me and the TV 12 feet away but off to one side. My range fan on high makes more noise sitting 12 feet behind me.

I've been mostly running my x1c on "silent" mode during the day since I'm sat right next to it. At half speed the noise isn't terrible and it's still twice as fast as my prusa mini+ for most prints. And with the ability to control it from my phone I let it run full speed when I'm in the office.

It is crazy at this point they got LiDAR added to the print head to adjust the flow rate and bed adhesion… but they still can’t put fluid bearing quiet fans on a stock machine…
That thing sounded like a hair
Dryer in a shoe box running .
Don’t get me wrong I understand replacing fans is something anyone
Can do to make it quieter .
But should you have to when we are the point of what should be considered luxury machines??
Don’t get me wrong I still want one of
These they are best option on market I see as as pushing the technology ahead. With a very slick multi filament system and also the LiDAR Scanner backed into the pre print calibration.
But I wouldn’t mind when I buy one for it to be another couple hundred dollars more and it to have the fans addressed as much as possible with a easily replaceable common high quality fan.
I did the noctua upgrades on my first printer (voxelab Aquila) ender 3 clone.
I bought the cheapest printer that I could to make sure it was something I would learn and use. But after owning it for 2 years and upgrading it completely to be a very stable PLA printer that I can have my children or wife use , as long as I slice and transfer the Goode for them 😊 haha they haven’t shown enough interest to learn the most technical part and that is the slicing at least in my experience.
Once you install a bltouch with a firmware for the mesh. A dual gear extruder,a good quality nozzle, and the magnetic pei bed. All very easy to do surprisingly… the printer has ram basically non stop for 2 years the first month figuring out the slicer and how to upgrade the printer was the only time I had failed prints that and figuring out cheap filament is cheap for a reason haha. I’d highly recommend esun pla+ with my printer it has worked flawlessly and I live in a high humidity climate 90% average humid year round it seems haha. I have never stored my filament special and have used rolls of some colors for years off and on with no issue at all.
I haven’t gotten into tpu I bought a roll and haven’t opened it to even try it haha. It seems I should upgrade to direct drive but… with this printer I have decided to leave it be as a pla printer . Have been shopping for a really nice printer since I have really enjoyed the hobby and my family never has a moment someone doesn’t want something printed haha.
This is actually the main one I have been planning on buying and probably will even if it is louder than it could be.
It’s just disappointing that there isn’t a great option for the hobbyist to where it is large build volume, core xy for the speed, excellent technology for the enhancement of print quality such as the flow rate scanning as this printer,
With a good multi filament solution, and built to filter the air with a good hepa filtration for the more toxic materials, that is also very quiet.
I wish Prusa would develop a version of this setup also I really like this printer but at same time I been telling myself my next printer would be a high end Prusa. It looks like the XL will be close to $4,000.00 for the 5 tool head version and it still isn’t even out yet so it’s tough not to order this for
The $2,000.00 ish and already have a new machine. But if they could update the fans and make it quieter with a lil better enclosure and a hepa filter… it would be worth $3,000.00 to me .

The biggest issue is not nozzlewiping. 99% of the noise comes from useless fans. Small radius radial fans are LOUD. noctua fans for computers for example are quiet. They'd be a dream. I wish they had better fans.
The stepper motors could perhaps be quieter but i mean i am willing to suffer them for the speed. But the fans feels like a jew turbine. It is ridiculous. Poor design.

The noise is better after the last firmware update.

Is that just a color changing filament or did you use multiples? If multiple, how did you get that color transition to print so beautifully? Did you just set the "Flushing Volume" to 0.0?

some people have their printers in their dorm rooms. Hence it worth to consider this.

I love seeing people pay $1200-1500 on a 3D printer, talk about all the faults and flaws in has in one breath and then praise it like a god in the next. It’s called buyers remorse… No heated chamber, loud, finicky with what filaments it will print, can’t print real engineering grade filaments, hard to repair, but it cost me $1500 so it also walks on water… 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂 Yeah, sure, SUCKER!
