Thanks for your videos. They are super helpful ! Removes the fear of trying these things for myself on my 2015 Toyota hilux. Really and truly minor servicing like these can be done by ourselves. Don't be afraid folks. Thanks for showing us all. Bless up!
Thank you so much for this video. I just changed mine for 2017 Foton Tunland 4x4 using your exact method and it worked like a charm. Foton Tunland uses the exact discs as Toyota Hilux 2.7 and 3.0 4x2 and 4x4 1998 to 2005. I used Ferodo FDB797 which are the same as the Foton as well as the Hilux original, but at a much cheaper price. I hope that further helps somebody out there. Thank you very much again. May God bless you. Shout out from South Africa. [Side Note: I bought the Tunland because it's running on a 2.8 Cummins Engine and at half the price of my previous Hilux]
Thanks for your great informative video. I've just replaced the front brake pads on my 2014 Hilux following your video. My pads have the metal clip wear indicators on all four pads and I've fitted them with the indicators at the bottom. Does this matter only straight after fitment, my brake pedal now sinks to the floor and when the brakes apply, the fronts don't release properly causing a bad brake bind and judder through the steering so I can't even drive it to a local repair shop for diagnosis. This is with the engine running with braking assistance. The pedal stays firm with engine off without assistance and the wheels seem to remain free. I'm at a loss. Do you have any ideas or suggestions please? Many thanks.
@@driftcarsjp Thanks JP. I purchased Ferodo brake pads, all four pads have ware indicators fitted, marked L & R. I have fitted with both the indicators facing the bottom of the calipers, which I assume is good. Now to do the rear brake shoes. 🙏
Why did the inner and outer old pads have the wear indicator? 6:22 you can see the inner old pad also has one. I'm changing the brakes on my hilux and can't figure out if the pad with the wear indicator is on the outside or inside. You said it should be on the outside but you apparently had them on both sides...does it really matter? Can anyone pls help clarify. Thank you.
@@driftcarsjp Thanks I figured as much. Thats why i try to do maintenance myself, just never know if a good mechanic is doing the job or a Greasemonkey.
I've not been able to drive the vehicle since because of these issues as it's dangerous with the brakes not releasing remaining partially applied and pedal sinking etc. Thanks.
Does hilux needs any thing else serviced like a petrol engine needs spark plugs replacement ik diesel engine does not have spark plugs. I have same hilux i just change oil/filter and fuel filter air filter and nuts and bolts re torqued and re grease ball joints.. my hilux has done 60,000kms.
No thats the great part about diesels .. they dont need a lot of serviceable items replaced. Only other part is the timing belt they are quite easy to do. I'll see if I can do a video on timing belt replacement.
i got my both brakes replaced (new) disk got it zeroed properly got them greased but after 300-400km when im turning my steering left or right brakes on ur turn are vibrating and making squeaking sound? so what should i do?
After fitting on brake pads (safeline)and brake rotors(kratex brake rotor)on my Toyota fortuner the steering vibrates but only does this when I do speed
My hilux when it goes downhill and you push on the breaks, the steering wheel shakes, and you can hear some noise which sounds like its coming from both wheels.. any advise?? fyi its a hilux 2010 4wd

Thanks mate, the other comment here is somehow important,
The reservoir when you push the pistons, take a note with that.
Great simple vid, thank you.
great vid got quoted $ 300 to do my Hilux front pads, bought the pads for $ 96 and my free labour,
thanks
Great to hear my video has helped someone save some $$$
Good video mate, thank you! I just needed to know witch side the wear indicator goes, you covered that right from the start. Im subscribed now.
Thanks for all your information your putting out there regarding the hilux n70... helped me out heaps mate. Your a legend!!!
Thanks for this and the service video mate. Saving me some coin and I'm enjoying doing it.
More 4x4 work and mods would be awesome! Light bars etc....Great videos!🤙
Brilliant video, cheers mate, changing the fathers 2014 hilux ones out today
Cheers mate, may have taken me longer to find and watch your video than the task lol!
Thanks for a well communicated how-to video. Much appreciated.
Quality explanation on doing things right 🙌💪👍
Yes I did. I'll have a closer look at this. Many thanks.
Thanks for the video mate. Well explained and easy to follow.
Omg thanks for your video mate! Going to tray change mine today!
Your a legend for this haha
Mate your videos have helped me so much. Thanks for all the work you put into these! 👍&Subbed
Tip: when you're pulling the pistons back keep an eye on your reservoir. You may need to syringe some fluid out.
Why is that? Im about to do it so... Thanks
@@gustavofantela5924 If the brake fluid has been topped up as the pads have worn down, then it's a good idea- could spill over.
@@modvs1 thanks man
Another great video . My first 4x4 was a Suzuki like that .Thanks for the education 🍺🍺🍺🍺
Thanks for the tip brother your video are very helpful absolutely appreciate your time 👍
Rear brakes video should be up on TH-cam tomorrow.
Your a star! Definitely going to give this a crack myself

@@PreMillennium-i4z have you bed the pads in after fitting them?
Very good explanation....thanks dude...
Thanks for posting this 👍, Any tips on rotor replacement on the hilux in regards to the caliber etc
You just need to unbolt the brake caliper and the disk will come off. You may need to use a m12 bolt to screw in to the disk to break the rust seal.
@@driftcarsjp Thanks mate that will help heaps 👍
Nice one JP, thanks. Is it a good idea to polish up the pins the pads slide on? Obviously not to grease them.
Just wipe them clean will be fine

Great video Driftcarsjp!! that will help me changing my break pads myself :)
Me too, I feel more confident tackling these jobs myself cheers to Driftcarsjp
a tip : you can watch movies on flixzone. Me and my gf have been using them for watching loads of movies these days.

Nice vid mate pretty helpful 👍
Great video m8. Are you going to do a video on greasing all points of the hilux at all?
Yeah next time my mate brings his hilux over ill do that and rear brake shoes too.
Nice one mate 👍
Thank you for the good advise❤
Great video mate helped a lot but how do I go about get the Toyota genuine parts is it online or in store
You can get toyota genuine parts on ebay
I've not been able to drive the vehicle since because of these issues as it's dangerous with the brakes not releasing remaining partially applied and pedal sinking etc. Thanks.
@PreMillennium-i4z did you remove the calipers to replace disks? If you have check the rubber brake hose isn't twisted
Just changed the front disc pads on my 14 Hilux 4 x 4 and now I'm left with abs and slip lights on the dash that won't go away
Have you driven it since doing the pads? As sometimes the lights will be on till you drive it.
Yes I have given it and also disconnected battery thinking that might do something but no luck
@@petesutton7825 hopefully you haven't damaged the abs sensor wire wile doing the pads.
How to change Toyota 3.0D4D
great video!!
What do i do if i wanna use aftermarket pads with shims on them? Do aftermarket pads with shims included work?
Yep they will fit exactly the same as the genuine Toyota ones.
would this be the same for a 2007 hilux mate cheers
Yep
How do you bleed the breaks
0:41. No the wear indicator goes on the inside.

Hi mate would this be the same process for a 2019 model?
Yeah there mostly the same just check oil capacity as they might be different on the 2.8l..
@@driftcarsjp thanks 👍
After fitting on brake pads (safeline)and brake rotors(kratex brake rotor)on my Toyota fortuner the steering vibrates but only does this when I do speed
Check the wheel nuts torque. Or you may have knocked off a wheel weight.
@@driftcarsjp okay I only have 2 shims on my pads and what do you mean by knocked off wheel weight
When I do speed and then brake then it starts vibrating that's what I meant and forgot to put in the comment
If you get any vibration when braking it's warped brake rotors. You may have been sold defective pair.
Cheers mate
What happens if you don’t have the shims? Can you buy them at all?

Most pads come with them. Bendix normally has the shim/blacking plates
