What’s terrifying about Palpatine in the novel is how genuinely good and wise the added dialogue makes him feel. It’s like reading Dumbledore’s dialogues with Harry from the HP books, only this Dumbledore is deliberately using his wisdom and intellect to manipulate the chosen one into becoming a monster.
I agree, it's a shame George left out the part where Palpatine doesn't deny he's a Sith and he also states he's Anakin's friend (even though that friendship was pure fabrication.) and asks would Anakin kill him simply because he's a Sith, even though they are friends. In the film, he just states he's empowered by Anakin that he's frustrated and asks him to join him. Before this scene in the novel, Palpatine also offers a brand new speeder and some luxurious apartment for Anakin and he's absolutely stunned by that. Also, I find it interesting that when Palpatine asks Anakin to leave the Order and become his apprentice, Anakin doesn't immediately say that he's a Sith. He probably thinks Palpatine wants Anakin to become his mentor of sorts and his personal guardian, like the Senate Guards, before Palpatine reveals he's a Sith Lord.
"You. It's you. It's been you all along. I should kill you. I WILL kill you." "...For what?" "You're a Sith Lord!" "I am. I am also your friend." This exchange carries so much more weight compared to simply having "...you're the Sith Lord!" and "Are you going to kill me?" in the film it's actually unreal.
Yes. He was born a slave, was release, became the slave of Jedi doctorine was release from that, destroyed everything he valued and finally was slaved by his new master.
I love how Palpatine slowly eases Anakins mind, and slowly, insidiously, subtely, and cautiously talks about the Idea of Anakin beaing his apprentice, instead of the film, where he just out of nowhere tells Anakin he is a Sith lord. This is much more realistic, to what Palpatine would do.
The dialogue here is very interresting but it makes Anakin looking more stupid and very slow to understand who Palpatine really is. At the moment he talked about becoming his apprentice, he should have reacted instead of "Hmm, I don't know... I don't have the time, too much work..."

How must it feel to serve your entire adult life in the thrall of a cult, fighting for years on the frontline in horrific conflict after conflict, making sacrifice after sacrifice, and yet all they ever demand is more.

Holy cow, this feels like a masterpiece compared to the film version. I didn't even notice this takes like 8 minutes to complete, I was gripped throughout the whole scene. I wish they had the time to include this uncut in the film, it is of such pivotal importance that it would be shame to abridge it.
What a horrible fate Anakin willingly succumbed to. Hate and anger brewing in him every waking moment of his existence. Knowing that all he ever was was another pawn in Sidious' ascension to power. What had to kill Vader the most was his realization at how easily manipulated he allowed himself to be.
In the Novel Anakin or rather Knightfall Vader never bought the story from palps at all re jedi traitors. He went to the temple to punish the jedi for not recognising his power. He also planned to kill sidious upon his return from Mustafar.
I seem to remember that several sentences are missing from the first part, the ones that you would ask that it will be yours that Anakin starts with small things like an ultra-expensive speeder or an entire building (the Republica 500 I think I remember) and Palpatine tells Anakin that he constricts his thinking to insignificant things, that he could ask for a moon, Whatever planet he wants (giving him the footing so that later, he thinks he could get Palpatine out of the way and take over the empire, his empire, to rule it with Padme). Those lines may seem a little unnecessary, but I think they're important to see Palpatine break through Anakin's reduced boundaries of thinking and finally break the reduced terms of ambition that the Jedi have conveyed to him with their training. Still, this scene in all its complexity should not have been cut in Revenge of the Sith. This, along with the initial where Palpatine predisposes Anakin against the Jedi while giving him what Anakin so desperately needs, which is the rank of master to enter the Jedi Council and access all the holocrons without restriction (that the council thwarts those plans by not giving him the rank of master, That's why he gets so angry at the council meeting, not because of the rank that is empty to him, but because of the possibility of saving Padme from the visions that Anakin is having .And that by not granting him that rank of master, the only alternative Anakin has, even if it is desperate, is Palpatine, which is why he cannot let the Jedi kill him.

I hope some day technology advanced so much that anyone can deep fake these actors and their voices with little to no un-canny so that you can use any actor to bring this to life. Having this novel implemented into a live action format would be so awesome.
