This and all the other excerpts from the novel adds so much more depth to the motives behind Mace Windu's insistence on ending Darth Sidious's life despite him being unarmed.
That's right. The fact that they could sense a dark influence in the government, and they could only sense the danger but not know how that would manifest was implied in the prequels. The 2008 CW series really messed that up. They were not supposed to know before Revenge. The Jedi going in depth about what they do not know was a much needed discussion in the film.
Whoa this scene is epic in the novel. It's a sense of urgency and impending doom. Yoda and Mace Windu both have very different views about defending the Republic and Jedi.
It's kinda sad that they don't believe he would be able to split the Order. Shows you how the war blinded their judgement and made them arrogant and corrupt.
Such an interesting discussion! I love all the references to other EU stuff it just all feels so expertly constructed! Thank you for finding this clip!
The real goal behind placing the Jedi Order under the command of Palpatine was that it also made Palpatine the supreme commander of the clone army. It gave him full authority to enact order 66, with no risk of being overridden by anyone, especially the Jedi. Before that, the supreme commander of the clone army was the Senate. It would have been impossible to swiftly enact order 66, without alerting the Jedi, despite the super majority Palpatine had because of the senators who were not on the side of Palpatine.
Loved the last quote from Master Qui-Gon "Until the possible becomes action, It is only a distraction" I like Master Mace but he is the main reason why Anakin falls into the Darkside...He sees it's possibility and try to act to prevent it...But in trying to prevent only makes the possibility a reality.... Which reminds of Master Oogway's quote. . . . "One often meets his destiny on the road he takes to avoid it" -Master Oogway
Stop it, Anakin is the main reason. How about you grow up and stop putting yourself into Anakin's shoes like he is a hero. He was nothing but a ticking time bomb.
@@tahjsimon9058 Sure - but the Jedi had plenty of time to defuse it. Anakin failed massively - but so did Mace and the council. Their fall was more than just down to Anakin
You really think all the old Legends novels had writing of this quality? Pfffft. This book stood out for its writing even when it was as originally released.
They were arrogant and blinded from the truth. They only saw it too little too late. They are a little bit like the sjw of today. Their against the sexy side of woman where in reality it is the beauty and strength of woman. Like the Jedi are tries to remain to be keeper of the peace but in reality it is war where their true power is revealed
Anyone else want to see Matt Stover write an updated version of his Revenge of the Sith novelization with Ahsoka and The Clone Wars taken into account?
I love how this illustrates how politics and laws can be manipulated for evil purposes. Something we should be mindful of in real life
So well spoken 👏
Law and order SVU proves this especially Authority episode

Wow never read the novel but these 9 minutes alone made Mace an even better character for me

And Obi-Wan is conflicted

The music is exquisite. Light, Dark, Dark with glimmers of light and hope shining through
Awesome, I love this novel even more than the actual Revenge of the Sith movie
Wow this made mace a way better and smarter character

Mace was narrow-minded.

@@tahjsimon9058EXACTLY 💯 👏 I swear people contort themselves to blame Mace for Anakin's fall instead of the hypocrite Anakin.
I love the references to Sora Bulq, and Depa Billsba
This was true Star Wars this type of writing is what the new Star Wars novels lacks

LOL at the Narrators Yoda voice XD
Its better than you.
Darth Plagueis or the Reveal scene would be epic too
Epic this is
Awesome video
Thank you. Much appreciated 👍
Damn, all of this gives much more substance to the film. I really wish they'd release that 4h cut with at least some of this extended dialogue.
If you ask me yoda dragged it out, he allowed the jedi to be destroyed. He’s pretty cool frfr but if you ask me he’s a pretty sad character.
This feel like I'm listening to an excellent Broadway play
Jedi are really tuned in politics
They were as clumsy with politics as they were stupid in their blind rulefollowing.
Politics are boring and slow plus no one cares
The Jedi are in huge distressed
More than with the force at this stage. Enough wit but no Gaul until it was too late
I Always Thought The Jedi Council Was Selfish And Egotistical. Like They Were Portrayed In The Movie. I Was Wrong. I Was So Wrong. I'm Sorry.

@@golden1_1dragon12 Well Said.
That are pragmatic and direct and very discipline, not egoistical, but clearly they ate between wall and sword

No
I think its better off as is.
Hell no, keep Filoni's pet out of it.
6:00 that shit was kind of cringe when he said the negotiator
Obi-Wan is just 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Mace was right - Yoda messed up
I like this trio, if only Anakin wasn't so selfish, they would have been a dream team of four.
