    The reading of the novel captured so much more than the movie ever could. The terror and pleading of Dooku, the calm way Palpatine encouraged Anakin to kill him and not worry about consequence. Much darker than the movie portrayed it.

    "He now understood, how Skywalker became ever stronger. Why he didn't speak for a while. How he has become a fighting machine. He now knew, why Sidious is interested in him for so long. Skywalker was a born Sith. In place of his heart was a termonuclear furnace, burning through the firewalls of Jedi-indoctrination. He held the Force with a white smouldering fist. He was already half Sith and didn't even know. He possessed the gift of rage. And he was still holding back."

  • @Teekitt
    @Teekitt 2 ปีที่แล้ว +19

    As smart as Dooku was, how did he not see this coming. Previous chapters talk about how Dooku was talking to sidious about how once anakin turns to the dark side, how Dooku would be able to get anakin to listen to him and control him. How did he think that that would happen?

    • @johan9428
      @johan9428 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      Sidious ordered Dooku to kill Obi-Wan, which would piss off Anakin enough to tap in the Dark Side. After that, Sidious would reveal himself to Anakin and convert him to the Sith, then Dooku would be "arrested". And he didn't lie. Sidious simply left out that the "after that" would be days later and that Anakin would execute Dooku straight up after having arrested him.
      Dooku was delusional. Dooku thought that his much superior experience, his political skills and more tempered behavior made him a much better candidate as a second in command of the future Emperor Palpatine than the hot-blooded Anakin, who would be more suitable as a chief enforcer. He misunderstood Palpatine entirely. 1) To Palpatine, power is everything. Anything else is distant second. Anakin has more power than Dooku: Palpatine replaces Dooku with Anakin as his apprentice. 2) As Emperor, Palpatine would rule by himself. He wouldn't need a second in command with political skills, only an enforcer as strong as possible.

    Count Dooku was merely a pawn to service the Sith Lord, Darth Sidious as well as his predecesor, Darth Maul. Both Maul and Tyranus did not know that the fact why Sidious need them to service his cause is because he want to make sure that the following plans from the beginning of the Clone Wars. Both Separatists and Republic will grow weaker until the Jedi will eliminate the possible threats like Dooku and Grievous. So he will choose his new apprentice to be more ruthless, cold-blooded, fearless, and emotional rage. That apprentice is Anakin Skywalker (The Chosen One) as Darth Vader. Also fulfilling the return of the Sith Empire, which it went extinct over thousand years ago since Old Republic Era.
