Haha I was hoping it'd be an unexpected cut! I intentionally left out some context: it was an alarm indicating the system wasn't working, not an actual fire, and I waited over 3 hours between the two parts before I decided to just proceed. But I prefer the more dramatic version. :)
Was waiting for the keys to start sticking to your fingers as the flames got higher. Hope all is ok! Thanks for doing this, it’s the area so few are giving details on so I’d begun doubting it does what I need, but am intrigued by what you’ve shown, thanks again
Haha thanks! Mercifully it wasn't a fire, just a squirrel chewing through a power line and causing the alarm to malfunction and beep... for 7 hours. I survived with most of my sanity intact :)
Thank you for showing us the OP-XY in more detail; I’m still very interested in it. Unfortunately, this video once again highlights something I’ve seen a lot on TH-cam over the past 10 days. An incredibly portable machine with some extraordinary possibilities, but once again, a sound that I don’t like. The internet is already full of poorly produced tracks made with the OP-XY. Is it really possible to create a track that sounds good on this machine without post-production on a computer? I’m starting to have my doubts. This is also one of my criticisms of the OP-Z, which I still like a lot despite everything. However, this one is in a price range where you really think twice before buying, and I’m still not convinced.
Thanks for the comment--believe it or not, I'm actually working on a video about why not to buy an XY. I think we're all still learning to use it creatively and effectively, so you're only hearing beginner music right now. That said, if you don't like the sounds you've heard so far I'd strongly recommend you save your money. I love the sample and synth engines, and it's not worth paying for an instrument if you're underwhelmed by its sound.
Op-1 field vs Op-xy for making jungle/ambient/lofi DnB funky stuff combining samples and synths? Thoughts? Is the OP-XY really worth the extra money? (I'm just trying to convince myself i don't need the XY... 😅)
Do you like making those genres on the Field? I'm not an expert by any means, but making DnB-ish stuff has always been impossible for me on the OP-1 but really comfortable on OP-Z. So for me XY is waaaaay better for those genres than OP-1f, but if you like using your OP-1 it might be a nightmare to try and accomplish the same things on the XY.
@windowbed you've just convinced me. I bought the xy on payments from a vendor. Easier on my paper thin wallet that way. I couldn't get along with anything but the op-1 workflow and creativity-wise. I still have it, but some of the keys are dead or get stuck playing a note even after I released the key. I'm told I could order a replacement keybed, though. Hmm. If I got it working again, I'd combine the 2 and sample each other to get effects the other lacks. Thanks for your input, good sir. 🙏
Some interesting techniques here. Small suggestion to include more of a performance of the finished piece or some way to really appreciate the output what’s been demonstrated in the tutorial.
Doesn't seem like you can parameter lock any of the drum sample parameters (annoying, I know), but if you have a hi hat track you could automate the volume from the Mixer menu--just open the Mixer, hold the step, and adjust the fourth knob.
There is no sound "page" in arpeggiator. You can get the correct pronunciation in the English to Italian translator. It is the same sounds both in English and Italian. But you seem very exacting so I thought you would like to know.
@@captainlovett4724 Websters is pretty good with the clickable pronunciation. I personally say the more French on-velope because it is a French word. I think I have heard people say it the other way too but those same people say entrepreneur "on" at the first syllable, making them inconsistent. I'd rather be consistent and give a nod to its French roots.
This absolutely insane! Great example!
Thanks so much for this. I was unclear on the value of linking tracks, but thanks to your demo I see the massive potential here. Cheers!
More sound design deep dives please 🙏♥️
Thank you for the encouragement! This was really fun to make and I already have many more ideas
Haha what the hell dude!
"That was wild! There was an explosion, lets continue synth designing during the fire alarm" 😆

@@windowbed Yeah that was badass. I love your informative videos, by the way.
Your a natural demo performer, TE should take you on tour🥳🤘🏼
Beautiful technique reminiscent of elektron deep dive workflow ✨🐚✨

This is excellent stuff. Thank you.
🔥🔥🔥Thanks for your insight
Good stuff!

Thank you! Yes, this is definitely something I want to prioritize. Hopefully things go more smoothly during the next demo.
How can you make automation on the volume of a hi hat sample?

How do you pronounce, “envelope?”

Thank you! You're spot-on--I love this kind of feedback. Though now I'm realizing how inconsistently I pronounce envelope...
