Amazing vid, thanks for comparing them. The OP-XY will never be on my radar but the deluge has been. I then bought a polyend play and love it but, this vid has reinvigorated my interest in the deluge. Stay awesome and keep making content like this, fantastic.
What an excellent advert for the Deluge - I’ve been using the XY for a week now and you’re on the money with regards to the portability factor; there’s nothing else that can compete with it except for….the op-1 field! That said, the Deluge is my all time favourite groovebox and I’d certainly recommend it over the XY - It’s a jack of all trades. You’re right about sequencing sheet music: I’ve done this on the Deluge and it performed brilliantly.
@@LFOVoyagerExcellent but not for everybody - I think it’ll be better for a lot of people than the op-1 field: sequencing allows you to go back and tweak endlessly whereas recording to audio doesn’t. It also plays very well with external gear and thanks to the audio buffer you can affect external synths with all the glitchy effects. Resampling is very easy too. I think people look at it and think because it’s small it shouldn’t cost so much, but miniaturising technology is expensive, and this thing is so miniature.
True story I owned the OG op1 when it cost £600 to buy but ended up selling it when I saw the deluge at superbooth when they added the arranger mode and that was it the deluge was mine. The community firmware is absolutely astounding with features added and more importantly issues solved very quickly. My OG deluge has had it's oled to further future proof it. Great video!
This just randomly popped up into my feed today, and I'm glad it did! It's been said in other comments that this channel is "Bad Gear" level awesome, and I concur. You've got a new sub from my main channel and my music channel from just this video. Keep up the good work!
At first I thought this was just another OP-XY fan-vid. Found out that you are just a normal, ever happy Deluge-user. I just adore mine. The best music gear I’ve ever bought. Peered with the Linnstrument it’s a beast of portable bring-on-the-work-trip beasts! ❤
I love the comparison. And yes. The Deluge is the only thing coming to mind. M8 is very close. But you forgot to factor in playability. Like playing chords and melodies. Also Deluge s workflow is a bit cryptic. Especially after the new awesome community firmware. On the other hand the XY has a better sequencer. Step components are awesome.
Deluge ❤ A really big plus for me with the deluge is how close it is to Ableton live conceptually. It’s so easy to translate daw knowledge to the Deluge. The way notes are showed on the big pad is just so sweet! Long story short, I love my deluge so so much.
Yes, the way the pads are used makes sequencing notes very intuitive. I especially like seeing all the drum triggers at once, instead of having to select the parts individually.
The Deluge sequencer for drums is the best I’ve ever seen. Not only swappable pieces in the kits, but infinite pieces and infinite length, plus zoom in for notes between the 1/16ths AND triplet mode. If they narrowed down the functionality of Deluge to just the sequencer and drum kits in a smaller format with punch in fx and better effects in general, I would have gotten it over XY.
Interesting take! As someone that just makes music for a fun hobby, I just sold my Deluge to help fund my XY. It was super powerful but the workflow is just really bad to me, I shouldn’t need a notebook of shortcuts to use the thing. I’ve had more fun in 2 days on the XY than the 2 years I had the Deluge. I also have an M8 MK1 that I love and is way more powerful, but it’s kind of like working in excel. There’s just nothing else portable that’s quite so immediate and fun as the XY in my personal opinion. It sure was expensive though!
Love this vid. Great job on showing Deluge's quick workflow, this is exactly why i like it so much. Deluge was actually the 1st thing that came to my mind when I saw the op-xy. I have to op-z, i love it, but there are not 2300$ worth of upgrades. If TE would make the op-z synth engine open, i could play with it endlessly....just like on the Deluge.
Thanks for confirming my personal bias. I love my deluge. it is the absolute best musical investment i've made. Always deluge. Only deluge. Your video was as insightful as it was HILARIOUS! You have a new subscriber.
@@ItsMrMcFly hey, I was wondering if any diecast fans would find me here. I plan on showing some of the music I’ve made for the 3dbotmaker channel on here in the future.
This was a really great video, I’m impressed! Very fair to narrow down the reasonable comparisons. I owned Deluge and had a blast, but sold it after a year. There were some things that I couldn’t get over. As you pointed out, workflow is huge, and Deluge felt tedious to me personally. I never felt like I could PERFORM with it, merely compose and press play, which I didn’t feel like I needed a $1,000 (at the time) device for. It also lacked features that my particular musical direction requires, and it lacked fx sends via hardware. I considered buying another Deluge, but the hardware limitations stopped me. I do appreciate the new screen and the open source aspect, though. XY came out and the more I dug into its features, the more it became clear that this was the groovebox I had been waiting for. Arrangeable, performable, portable, and very efficient, inspiring and creative workflow. There are still some software updates I can hope for it, but it truly is the most suitable device for my particular musical style (with sound design done externally and sampled in.) Again, great work on this video!
Every device has a purpose for someone. And Deluge is certainly feature rich. I’m glad it works for you! I really would buy a mkll if they streamlined the workflow and implemented some hardware features.
This is so well presented and such good content. I am pretty obsessed with op xy but the deluge seems to be a good addition lol. Op xy is a lot more portable, so it will still be a better travel companion. But I love the large pad grid on the deluge to make a the song a lot more visible. Can’t wait to try it. Thanks for creating this awesome and very entertaining video. Love your sense of humor.
Nice video! I own a Deluge and have used it almost daily since 1,5 years. There is one feature on the OP XY that i would love on the Deluge: The 'brain'. I am no trained pianist, i cannot simply transpose a melody just like that. But then again: The Deluge is open source and a transpose-feature may potentially eventually come to the Deluge!
Good video and good points. Deluge is a great device and being open source makes it very unique. The elephant in the room is the Sp404mk2. They just added a synth engine which makes it part of this category too. And it’s $900 less than the Deluge.
Dude you are on another level. You trolled me and I was pleasantly surprised. Well done! This is a rare feat in any medium in any time period. Liked (loved) and subscribed. KPow! Knockout. Now I'm going to jump down into the Deluge rabbit hole on TH-cam for the next few hours. Thanks! I guess. ;)
It's worth it if you can afford it and it inspires you. I've gotten more use out of it in two weeks for my purposes than any single piece of gear I've used in the last year of making a record. It's a Swiss Army knife, sounds great, and is portable and inspiring.
Great video and an unexpected turn. The Deluge actually shows how much of a scam the synth industry seems to be lately 😄, at least that's how I feel. Especially when looking at hardware synths that were analog 20 years ago but are now being re-released as digital versions with the same polyphony count as the analog ones, it's something I still don't understand to this day. My mobile phone can handle more polyphony and almost an entire DAW. Then, looking at the Elektron Digitakt / Syntakt... no polyphony at all. Only two effects for the master, at least for the Syntakt. They already got us to a point that we are celebrating an addition like a chorus to the digitakt 2. It feels pretty ridiculous. Next would be Ableton move .... 4 tracks... no more to say 😄.
Deluge was actually among top choices when I was searching for a device which would solve Yamaha Seqtrak's shortcomings (mainly count of tracks and crappy piano roll). But then I found MPC and fell in love with it - just added Arturia Miinlab 3 to have a decent MIDI controller. I initially loved the portability idea, but then I figured that whenever I can squeeze some time to make music, I always have a desk and power outlet nearby anyway. And MPC has fantastic, easy to use piano roll, which I use most of the time. So in my case MPC it is. But I really hold a lot of respect towards Deluge, so maybe one day...
The MPC is a complete studio. Super powerful. I had the live 2. The workflow didn’t work out for how I like to make music, but it could pretty much do everything with great built in sounds.
I enjoyed the video. I came here for the Deluge. Never had any of the machines you mention here, however I would say that - sizewise - the MPC is comparable to the Deluge.
beautifully done, man, bravo! I was not expecting what this video became and the comedic instinct was perfect. Much respect for playing it straight. I can afford the op-xy but am in no way compelled, neither for the op-1. sketch pads began the pro-toy pivot of music gear into mass market miniaturization. A good idea that in hindsight has mostly just preyed on gas. But i guess it's right there in the brand name. TE peaked with pocket operators. Please, someone, leak their sales figures!
@@LFOVoyager They are fun but yes, that's about it and honestly what most people these days are actually after. Which is cool, no foul in having synth collections or music hobbies. It's the endless restrictions on functionality and iterations on the same thing...watching people buy into the hype of music toys that gets annoying. Meanwhile very little music of interest is being made. Having learned my final lesson from buying the Syntakt I now see Hainbach videos proclaiming 'inspiration box' and it gives desperate marketing ploy for a chaotic uncontrollable synth. Soma is the only company making anything beautiful but even they fall prey to aleatoric engineering.
@LFOVoyager isn't it also a sign of insanity!? Speaking of which you've convinced me to take time plunge on an OP-XY too so I can actually compare the workflows and how much I get out of them, if anything, as someone who prefers midi recorders and tape to programming sequencers...great to have 30/60 day returns on everything these days, you can actually make educated purchases and comparisons
I think it comes down to whether the particular abilities AND limitations of any device suit your approach to music. So, if money is no object and the OPXY fits your workflow - that's awesome. For everyone else, they can get way more features for way less money with the Deluge.
I have both: Deluge for over two years and OP XY for about a week. While Deluge is a great idea, its execution is severely flawed. I won't go into details, but it just doesn't sound good and is very easy to overload. (Yes, that included third-party patches; I've been programming synths for over 30 years.) While not perfect, XY sounds good out of the box, and the workflow is much cleaner. I use Deluge as a portable sequencer for external gear (Hapax in the studio). OP XY's form factor and battery are an excellent benefit for me. Slick design is a bonus :) Having said that, I'll be keeping both.
It's true that the Deluge CPU can sometimes get overloaded and drop voices, especially when you're throwing a lot of FX on your tracks. But it's a 2-second solve, just resample those FX-heavy clips into an audio clip and you've fixed it Like any groovebox there are limitations, there are also workarounds for a lot of them. And for fans of the Deluge, the few limitations that remain are often vectors for creativity and resourcefuness that improve the quality of the musical output. I think it comes down to whether the particular abilities AND limitations of any device suit your approach to music. So, if money is no object and the OPXY fits your workflow - that's awesome. For everyone else, they can get more features for less money with the Deluge.
I owned the original Deluge and the Deluge OLED. It was amazing, but the learning curve was just too steep for me as a casual user. I have an OP-1 Field and the interface, to me, is just easier to navigate. Hoping the OP-XY is similar, because I plan on getting one soon.
The OP-Z is pretty complicated, so I expect more or less the same from the XY. That said, the OP-Z is arguably the most creative and unique sequencer around. An expanded version of it in the XY with better synth engines will be well worth the investment of time required to master it. The XY will also unlock some cool workflows in the Field and vice versa. I’m saving up for an XY to use with my Field and Ableton Move (amazing device for the cost).
Honstely I got one and I have read half of the Manual and starting to get confortable with the device, but the fun to use it is soooo big it’s always a pleasure to go on it, personally composition on the xy is very very fluid and fast
I own all 3 (Deluge, OP-XY, OP-1F) and I’ve gotta say op-xy is super fun, but so many areas of quick workflow (copy a scene) are sorely missed. For me op-xy is a more refined version with workflows similar to both deluge and m8, although doing neither quite as efficiently, far more expensive, but a fun a different set of features. I’ve been on a quest to find something I like more than the deluge, but always and be up back there!
Well done. You've interested me in the Deluge. I am not interested in the OP-XY. I love my OP-1 Field though. But the Deluge does has some downsides for me, way shorter battery run time vs OP-1 Field / OP-XY. The biggest downside for me though is no traditional keyboard layout, and no BLE. Pads are great for arranging drums, don't like them for melodic sequences as I typically start a musical ideal melodically at a piano or a keyboard, then want to play it in on another device. The Jupiter Xm you used as the keyboard in your video pairs nicely with my OP-1 Field over Bluetooth, the OP-1 Field's mini sequencers can play midi notes out to it then I can record it's audio back into audio tracks on the Field. Audio tracks are something OP-XY does not have. Anyway, will look into the Deluge more, although I have the Squarp Pyramid sequencer which gives me some more flexibility, and that can be powered and function via midi from the OP-1 Field's USB host port... so the pair become totally portable.
I mainly use the deluge as my “DAW-less” DAW to record and arrange my other synths. I’m a keyboard player so I prefer playing on full size keys. The deluge’s ability to function like a looper really works well for how I like to explore musical ideas. The arranger mode then lets me take those ideas, organize them, and record new audio tracks directly onto the timeline like a traditional DAW.
@@LFOVoyager I've also just realised originally the Deluge was a segment display, that was a turn off years ago, the OLED would make it much easier to learn although there are dedicated shortcuts on all the pads, as you said. I like how they upgrade the old units for people, that's really nice. Good company.
Great video! Here at The Boom Bap Kingdom I would've said the Polyend Tracker + is a better and more affordable option than the OP XY even though it does not have an internal battery it can be powered by a USB power bank. The Deluge is also a great option and is on my radar if Akai drops the ball on the Force 2. Peace and thanks for the commentary.
OP-XY is the only game in town for the sequencer component tricks and the performance effect tricks. OP-1 is the only game in town for the analog tape simulation. Nobody else has these things, not sure why.
The battery is also easily replaceable when it eventually stops holding a charge. I’m still on the original battery, but I’ve removed the side panel and you have easy access to swap it out.
@@wren23_bass-synths Plus, people often seem to miss this - Deluge has a piano roll sequencer. A piano roll sequencer. That you use with multiple fingers, not a mouse. I cannot stress enough how big of a deal this is. Entering notes and chords visually like this is a complete gamechanger. No matter how cool the OP-XY or anything else is, you’d still be creating/editing sequences using your memory, not your eyes.
The Deluge is a really cool product, and I'd probably also rather have it than the XY. I'd put not only the Deluge but also the M8, Tracker+ and Tracker Mini above the XY too. I own all of them, and both the M8 and the Polyend devices have a much richer sequencer than the XY. I do think that the XY has the better sounding synths, but all of the other devices have better samplers. I'd say give me the better sampler and sequencer any day. And there's the price of course. And I didn't even mention the Akai lineup.
After watching the whole thing I have to chime in. It’s main strength is the workflow. Everything is very well laid via dedicated buttons and pages. I have never came up with great ideas so fast as with this one. Yes, it’s expensive af, but it’s a great device. I know because I owned almost every groovebox since the first one more than two decades ago.
Workflow is probably the most subjective aspect, and it really comes down to what works best for your style of making music. I liked the workflow of the OP-1 for the most part, and I could see myself enjoying the XY workflow as well.
@@LFOVoyager I have both and I think the OP-1 workflow is original and unique, but the OP-XY is just brilliant. It really is. That said I agree it's too expensive at first sight and the limitations (20 sec, really?) are ridiculous for that reason. In the end, it only boils down to one question. Are you willing to spend that amount of money on this? I really do, but I'm very fortunate to have a big budget.
lol this is like an ad for the Deluge, but dirtywave M8 + a cheap midi keyboard is the GOAATTTTT. Btw this is true and i am not biased, i am a youtube comment so you can trust me.
never been a huge fan of grid style devices like the deluge, its amazing what it can do but also it seems to sacrifice a bit on sound quality to push so much out. Perfect device for someone obsessed with features lists though 😄...I kid though it is an amazing device... I wish it was for me.
The video is really fun! I used to own a Deluge, and it’s true-it’s an amazing machine, no doubt about that. However, the workflow isn’t as fast as you described. It’s certainly a great workflow, but for certain specific genres, especially those that thrive on improvisation and live performance, the Deluge doesn’t quite keep up. You can do an incredible number of things with it, and again, it’s exceptional in many ways. But the OP-XY, despite the limitations you mentioned in the video, has a much more intuitive and immediate workflow. The limitations you described aren’t really a problem-for example, the 20-second sampling limit is more than enough, as it’s 20 seconds per sample, not 20 seconds total. The OP-XY has features that are perfect for IDM, among other genres. Personally, I loved the OP-1 for some aspects but hated it for others. The OP-XY, on the other hand, seems to have addressed some of the "flaws" and made the right changes to create a flexible and creative groovebox. Let’s not forget that having fun while creating is crucial, and the OP-XY has everything you need to enjoy the process to the fullest.
Thanks. This video is kind of my thought process on considering if I should buy the latest piece of gear. 20 seconds is a little short if the music you’re making includes vocal performances or instrument solos. It also seems like an arbitrary limit. Just let us do more.
@@LFOVoyager Lol. Limitations inspire creativity - or often they are just limitations. I prefer cheaper limitations, like the Move. I just don't need my toss in the bag timewaster to do everything or cost a fortune. (I have two Deluges btw.).
For the price of the OP Balenciaga Edition, you could buy a Synthstrom Deluge, 2-Teenage Engineering EP133 K.O.2s, and a Roland Aira P-6 sampler. Thanks man!
I really want to love the Deluge, I even sent mine in back to NZ to have the screen installed, but it's really tough to make it sound great from first switch-on, especially when using the integrated speaker. I think it's really important for a digital notepad to have a preset palette that is optimised to jump into working on an idea and not having to do extended sound design or preset auditioning without getting put off by how low quality it sounds. I've purchased a few preset packs to try to ameliorate this but the workflow to get going is just too long. Compare this with the OP-Z, which has a much more limited sonic palette, but they're all ready to go, and the workflow of the OP-Z really urges you forward in a way the Deluge doesn't - put your drums here, bass here, chord here, lead here, and change to a different chord and I'll rewrite it so it sounds great. Have a play with a few filters and punch in effects. Boom. Song. IMO that is peak musical notebook. Ableton Move is similar in a lot of ways, trading the OP-Z's excellent chord stuff for the amazing capture button and an even better, exceptionally curated set of presets. The Deluge is like sitting at an American style diner with a huge menu, most things inedible, the chef not really doing the work of bringing you the best choices, at every step. You can order every course after every course and most things are not what you want but we're still going to offer them all to you all the time. Ultimately, making art is about inspiration and taste, not feature set. I'm delighted that Deluge is open source and hope that will result in a much more designed, supportive and opinionated workflow, but typically open source projects focus on adding features rather than shaping a vision.
I totally get what you’re saying. My main use for the deluge is to record and sequence my other synths, along with using the deluge for samples and drum sequencing, so the synth engine really wasn’t that important to me. I have however purchased all of the Boards of Deluge preset packs and absolutely love them. If I’m trying to get that BoC lofi pitch shifting vibe, those presets are amazing.
The Deluge is when you realize that with a little bit of initial effort and then subsequent moderation of effort, you don't ever have to go to the diner again, and you can invite your homies over for some fire af hash browns.
I didn’t think it was 64 steps for an entire song, that would be an extreme limitation. It’s just on the deluge, you’re not locked into 64 step segments. You can work with 128 steps or 256, or however long you want, and then string those together into an arrangement. I should have made that point more clear in the video.
@@LFOVoyager that makes sense. I guess the way it is on the opxy it felt organizationally easier to work with chunks instead of one long chain, but I suppose it would be nice if I had the option in case I don’t want to use the scenes for whatever’s reason

@@alecsbuga glad it wasn't just me getting a bit lost with all those updates and hidden functions! Some overlays would be a huge help
@@Farold_Haltermeyeroverlays absolutely exist, one manufacturer makes a sticky one and another makes a magnetic one
@@evilrainbow awesome sauce, will dig 'em up if I take the dive again, cheers!
@Farold_Haltermeyer ya, just literally search "deluge overlay" and they'll pop up. can't remember the name of the companies off hand
the one thing about the xy, it seems to have very nice and creative sequencing helpers, scale detection, mutations etc, so nice for idea generation
Great video dude! Couldn't agree more. ❤
Thanks!
Deluge ❤
A really big plus for me with the deluge is how close it is to Ableton live conceptually. It’s so easy to translate daw knowledge to the Deluge. The way notes are showed on the big pad is just so sweet! Long story short, I love my deluge so so much.
Btw I just discovered your Channel, great stuff!
Hey I get it, I’ve had gear that other people swear by, and it just wasn’t for me. You gotta find what works for you and your workflow.
You deserve more subs - great and funny work! (And I have ordered the XY!😂)
Thanks, this is me talking myself out of buying it. “You already have gear that can do that” 😂
Excellent video man! Keep on keeping on!
Thanks.
Thanks for confirming my personal bias. I love my deluge. it is the absolute best musical investment i've made.
Always deluge. Only deluge.
Your video was as insightful as it was HILARIOUS! You have a new subscriber.
Glad you enjoyed the video. Deluge for life!
Great video! Just found in the middle of scripting my comparison video 😁
Yooo 3D!! So interesting to see you in this hobby as well! Love your other videos and look forward to what you have in store.
There are still some software updates I can hope for it, but it truly is the most suitable device for my particular musical style (with sound design done externally and sampled in.)
Again, great work on this video!
Yes, I agree, the Deluge isn’t really a performance instrument. I pretty much use it as a DAW replacement to record and sequence my other synths.
Every device has a purpose for someone. And Deluge is certainly feature rich. I’m glad it works for you! I really would buy a mkll if they streamlined the workflow and implemented some hardware features.
This video is excellent man! Nice work.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
Wild review - exactly what my future-self needed ;)
This is so well presented and such good content. I am pretty obsessed with op xy but the deluge seems to be a good addition lol. Op xy is a lot more portable, so it will still be a better travel companion. But I love the large pad grid on the deluge to make a the song a lot more visible. Can’t wait to try it. Thanks for creating this awesome and very entertaining video. Love your sense of humor.
Thanks. Glad you liked it.
loved this upload, subscribed!
Yeah, the brain feature looks pretty cool.
Good video and good points. Deluge is a great device and being open source makes it very unique. The elephant in the room is the Sp404mk2. They just added a synth engine which makes it part of this category too. And it’s $900 less than the Deluge.
OP-1's can be had for under 1K now. Great video btw....now i'm looking at the Deluge again!
Thanks for reminding me I have all I need with my deluge (especially now that I sent it overseas and back for the new OLED screen).
This video was so well done
Thanks.
Wow that's the content quality TH-cam is lacking this days. Insta sub
Thanks!
Thanks! I guess. ;)
Thanks. Enjoy the rabbit hole adventure. You never know where it will lead.
future self slap knocked some sense into me. awesome vid man. subbed
This was a great video. Hilarious! Great info. Subbed. Thanks man!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it.
It's worth it if you can afford it and it inspires you. I've gotten more use out of it in two weeks for my purposes than any single piece of gear I've used in the last year of making a record. It's a Swiss Army knife, sounds great, and is portable and inspiring.
Glad to hear it’s working out for you!
Years ago people were probably saying “in the future we’re going to have so much polyphony” fast forward 40 years and it’s the same 😂
Omfg that recreation of the dance scene of their add ! 😂🤣😂
The MPC live isn’t though. And even the MPC One+ is nearly 50% heavier than the Deluge.
My all-in-one contenders are the M8, Deluge and Akai Force.
beautifully done, man, bravo!
Thanks bro. The pro audio toys look like so much fun, but often times end up collecting dust on a shelf.
I’ve bought and sold the Deluge twice, not enjoying it much but you’re tempting me to give it the ol’ 3rd time around
If you sold it twice it may be time to move on. 😂 Although they do say third time’s a charm.
Very well said.
11:20 that dance. 😂 I agree. deluge is tough to beat in so many aspects
Slick design is a bonus :)
Having said that, I'll be keeping both.
It's true that the Deluge CPU can sometimes get overloaded and drop voices, especially when you're throwing a lot of FX on your tracks. But it's a 2-second solve, just resample those FX-heavy clips into an audio clip and you've fixed it
Like any groovebox there are limitations, there are also workarounds for a lot of them.
I’ve been on a quest to find something I like more than the deluge, but always and be up back there!
i could not love this video more
WTF this dude is my new favourite dude! Avesome video!
Thanks bro!
I love them both. But if I could only keep one it would be the Deluge, as I love pad grid sequencers.
I’m glad they listened to the users and changed the screen. I’m not sure I would have bought it with the old segment display.
Thanks for the comment bro! I hear a lot of people are liking that Polyend tracker.
Great vid bro Funny😂 very helpful wow😮
OP-XY is the only game in town for the sequencer component tricks and the performance effect tricks. OP-1 is the only game in town for the analog tape simulation. Nobody else has these things, not sure why.

@@LFOVoyager haha yes. I remember. Also existing among their product line- a table.
I had no clue that the Deluge was battery operated and it samples. It's looking more promising for me now.
It does not last for 16 hours however. I think it's 6.
Still Pretty good
The battery is also easily replaceable when it eventually stops holding a charge. I’m still on the original battery, but I’ve removed the side panel and you have easy access to swap it out.
@NoiseCommander3DS that's about what I get out of my Live ll. I could live with that.
The piano sequencer that you can multi touch is huge. I think I take it for granted that it’s not on other similar devices.
Incredible. A+
Yo! This channel needs more subs 💯🔥🙌
best part when he use the midi keyboard, makes it even bigger :')
I had the MPC live 2 which is pretty much a complete DAW.
Of course you’re going to say those are better because that’s what you can afford
@phatplates you know my financial situation?
Wow, great job again. ☺️

Just when you mentioned that there is nothing like that out there, I was screaming DELUGE
lol this is like an ad for the Deluge, but dirtywave M8 + a cheap midi keyboard is the GOAATTTTT. Btw this is true and i am not biased, i am a youtube comment so you can trust me.
I always trust the TH-cam comments.
Poah amazing video! Thank you so much 🙏🏼
Thanks!
never been a huge fan of grid style devices like the deluge, its amazing what it can do but also it seems to sacrifice a bit on sound quality to push so much out. Perfect device for someone obsessed with features lists though 😄...I kid though it is an amazing device... I wish it was for me.
Nice vid! Subscribed!
Thanks. Glad you liked it.
As a Deluge user who also has an OP-1F, I am curious how the XY synth engines compare?
Brilliant video! Brilliant! Thank you
Glad you liked it!
For the price of the OP Balenciaga Edition, you could buy a Synthstrom Deluge, 2-Teenage Engineering EP133 K.O.2s, and a Roland Aira P-6 sampler.
Thanks man!
Dam that beat on the deluge came out sick though!
Thanks.
Elektron you can plug into usb if you buy the usb to 12volts converter which is $45
I’ve been thinking about doing that for my digitone 2.
@@LFOVoyager I bought 2, they work great, now to test out the plane ride to Thailand and hope the usb on the seat in front of me works the same
You're a f*****g legend!🎉❤
Thank you.
you had me at deluge
One correction, each “scene” is 64 steps but you can put 99 scenes together so for sequencing you aren’t limited to 64 at all
Thanks for the clarification.
I didn’t think it was 64 steps for an entire song, that would be an extreme limitation. It’s just on the deluge, you’re not locked into 64 step segments. You can work with 128 steps or 256, or however long you want, and then string those together into an arrangement. I should have made that point more clear in the video.
@@LFOVoyager Also each track with it's own length. Also, quantized launching of different projects.
@@LFOVoyager that makes sense. I guess the way it is on the opxy it felt organizationally easier to work with chunks instead of one long chain, but I suppose it would be nice if I had the option in case I don’t want to use the scenes for whatever’s reason
I have never in my life seen anybody make music on the go.
Great Video! Subbed!
