JUST ordered the GPD Win Mini and MANNNN I'm so pumped. I've tried most handheld PCs and this one just has me the most excited I've been in a LONG time. Great vid 🔥🔥
This clamshell form is the epitome of work/life balance
Not too big for gaming and ofcourse practical enough for work for Asian hands
Lol
I bought mine on indiegogo at the launch price. I like it so far. You can cut out the center of those joystick caps to make it into a bumper cover so it turns your stock sticks into a concave with a raised lip. That's how others have closed the lid, they used the skull and Co ones when cutting out center. Let me know if you have audio clipping issues at low watt tpd. Anything under 10W is somewhat noticeable, 7w or under is way worse. The optional grips feel great. Note GPD announced a new Mini is coming out in 2024 with a major hardware update. Everything else works great when gaming, you can update the firmware to run ssd at pcie3 gen speeds to reduce the heat issues. Also Motion Assistant let's you set fan curve lower I use fan speed 2. Enjoy your Mini!
The GPD Win Mini is the only one I’d be interested in getting from a boutique China hardware maker for its laptop form factor. I’ve read too many comments from buyers having horrible customer service experiences from all these companies that it makes me too paranoid to drop that kind of $$ if something goes wrong. That’s why I stuck with the Ally and Steam Deck Oled and would get a Leigon Go if I had the duckets. Any issues and you have either Valve support or ideally a Best Buy extended warranty to just give you a new one if the old one dies or breaks. Congrats! That is by far the dopest one, imo
I feel you. I take the risk so you don't have to. And I'm blessed that I haven't had any major issues with any of my devices (yet)
Gpd win mini is god tier of a device
@@lennxeath3293it’s definitely special 👍🏽
I legit just ordered my 2tb-32gig ram model with the 7840u. I’m in the US but I ordered a droix. It’s a little pricier than other options like Ali express or the indiegogo site but you get a 2 year warranty and I’ve heard absolutely nothing but fantastic reviews about their service. I got the grips and upgraded shipping for like $1240ish out the door.
Traded in my old headphones to order a new pair of sennhesiers. Totally amped to obsessively play games from my childhood on my new setup :)
I have a legion go and I really wish they had released a 32gb version, I would've gladly dropped the extra cash on it.
I have my win max 2 6800u for over a year now and it still works just fine, use it for work, mostly just paperwork and gaming. Before I have my win 3 and it also work just fine, but thats my experience, others probably different
I'm not sure what id like more over my ally the win 4 or mini they are both really nice and i do love the ps vita look of win 4
I have the original gpd and it's amazing and pretty powerful. I'm going to get one of the win mini now that I'm in the market for a new handheld. I'm hoping they worked out some of jank from prior models (touch screen, battery, screen rotation)... Etc
I’ve been stuck on the Kun. Hopefully pulling the trigger soon. Thanks for the video and commentary.
The Kun is still my favourite. 👍🏽
The Kun hurts to hold after 10 minutes
@@lennxeath3293 I'm playing it for hours no problem. Yeah it's more dense than others, but it's well balanced and has a good grip.
Great review.
Do you prefer the Win 4 or Win Mini?
I really could go either way. I think the win 4 is slightly more ergonomic, but I need a grip on both to be comfortable.
How bad is it not having VRR one the GPD win mini compared to the ROG ally. Also what's the weight difference with the grips when you get it thanks
If you have on VSync there is no tearing so that's good. VRR will always be better than not having VRR, but the difference is not a deal breaker for me because unless there are huge jumps or dips in FPS the gameplay is smooth. My goal with any handheld is to get a constant frame pacing.
Has the Kun surpassed the A1 Pro as your favorite? If so, why?
They're like 1a and 1B. I think the Kun is overall better, but the A1 Pro has slightly better ergonomics because of the deeper grip and less weight.
I got the new gpd win 4 very happy with it but... wonder if i should have gone with the mini. just closing it and sticking it in a pocket is really appealing
I'd say the Win 4 is probably better overall imo. But the clamshell could come in handy
@@BarelyAverageDude well thanks for removing my regret XD
@@throbinwood9911 the win 4 if you have the 7840u / 7640u is the same as the Win 4 and I've heard the Win 4 cooling is better than the Win Mini. The only benefit is the clamshell to protect the screen but if you have a case you are ready to go.
I'd rock a win mini if money wasn't an issue. Looks good. lol
Buy the clear case for it I got one on mine
it looks it might be too small for my taste. i am tempted to get the win max 2. i like big handhelds and i almost always game at home, so mobility is not an issue.
As I said in the beginning I love large handhelds as well! The Win Max 2 is a laptop in my mind so I can't bring myself to get one 😅🤷🏽♂️
Maybe that'll change one day
I have the win max 2. It isn’t particularly comfortable for gaming. I think something like the rog ally will be better option.
How are the temps? Does it feel warm at 15w?
Temps are good at 15w, not very warm at all.
I wish I had the money to afford them all like that 😢😂 so far I only got the Steamdeck and rog ALLY the AYA NEO KUN is on my WISH LIST
Don't be like me. No one needs all these 😅
What website did you use to purchase this device? Any malware on your device? I’ve had some GPD device before and all of them shipped with the famous GPD worm malware
I got it from Amazon. No malware was detected.
Where did you get your ayaneo kun accessories
Which accessory are you looking for
@@BarelyAverageDude all of them
Have you fresh installed your device with a new windows? Reddit is full of stories about bloatware on those GPD devices. Not sure if this is outdated but all of my devices are gone through a re-installation process of windows.
The bloatware isn’t that bad to be honest. Just typical windows stuff.
I didn’t do a fresh install. It’s pretty much the same as any windows device with the typical apps. I just uninstall the apps I don’t need/want.
original OS was on my win 4 for a bout 20min I didn't see any bloatware from gpd whatsoever. I use windows xlite (youtube it) the guys stripped out all of microsofts crap and fixed the start menu. When I do it myself I always break something. Iv thrown every antivirus/ linux live CD I can find at it.... and it checks out but do your own research.
did you get the gamepad and finger print sensor to work with the new OS? I've heard of errors from just updating amd drivers and causing a whole domino effect@@throbinwood9911
Where did u purchase ur gpd at
Amazon
I got mine on indigogo (payed for a "perk" gpd win 4) it said it would arrive in December. I'm not rich... It it was every penny I had. AFTER I bought it I read this... "Indiegogo is unable to guarantee that projects will succeed or that perks will be delivered or deemed satisfactory" so I was panicking HARD. but gpd emailed me saying there was something wrong with my address.. (got it worked out... we don't have zip codes in the UK we have post codes) and it arrived. 16th of December. don't think iv ever been so relieved lol. My only complaint is indigogo is now constantly bombarding me with emails about other stuff they have going on.
I would not have bought it on indigogo if linus tech tips hadn't said gpd they have a pretty good track record on indigogo... in some video I once saw
@@throbinwood9911 I wasn't go to buy it at all, but I decided to just give a try when I saw it on Amazon. Plus free returns if I change my mind (I won't)
Wanna get me a hand held but for the prices they go for i might aswell get a laptop with better specs the prices of these things is the only thing not letting me pull the trigger
looks very uncomfortable to hold for a longer time.
I don't disagree. I ordered the grips before I even got the device 😅
Kun failed as it should have been 120hz for that price lol😂😂😂
I'm enjoying it even though it's locked at 60. 🤷🏽♂️
Still a great experience
@@BarelyAverageDude 100% it must be.
@@liviup6660one day we’ll have a device like the Kun with 120hz, but until that Day the Kun is King. Not saying it’s perfect, but if I wanted 120hz right now I would have to sacrifice either battery life, performance, Ports, ergonomics, controls or a combination of those.
120hz is NOT the automatic measure of greatness
@@BarelyAverageDude i agree. Is a beautiful device. Just could have been at least 120hz the rest is all amazing for sure. Im sure they could have done it
@@liviup6660it’s possible, but they would have to get a custom display made. As a small company they don’t really have the numbers to make that happen. They can really only use what is available and there is no 8.4in 1600p 120hz display right now. Remember, only the shell/design is custom; everything else is off the shelf parts that manufacturers have available.
Wasted my time. You never compared them side to side to show the diffence at all. Cap
Sorry to waste your time. Which devices do you want to see it compared to? I’ll do a dedicated video.
