Solved my problem! Didn't realise putting a large connector stiffness will affect the way forces are transmitted, which may in turn alter the failure mode on the parts being connected.
This video is really awesome. Very clear and practical. Coud you provide an explanation of how to connect four plates using Connectors (in ABAQUS). I have just used one Connector (as you did in the video) and it is really OK. When I tried to use three Connectors in serie, I did not have succes. So I used Connector MPC BEAM and it worked, but it is not possible to get the forces in the Connectors. When I try to get the forces, the ABAQUS job aborted due to errors, since it states that "Element set assembly_fasteners has not been defined". So, do you have tips or a video explaining how to conect and get the forces for Three Connectors in serie.
Thank you for this informative vedio. How to apply acceleration (in case of earthquake loading ) to connector sections. And what is the boundary condition in that case. Kindly help me
Could you tell more about zero space conections? I want to simulate nails on woodframes, is it the same process with reference points on top of each others?
Thank u it was helpful, I'm using connectors too , but i keep getting this error " The elset, exterior or tracer set parameter is required on the*element output option for this output database history request" ?!!!
thanks for the video, very helpful for me. I have a question, if we use 'damage' in 'Connector Section Behaviour'. what should we input in the 'damage initiation' (Force Criterion) if the data that we have is strength (MPa) ? should we convert it ? but what is the value of connector cross-section area ? I hope you read this comment and please answer to help me. anyone in youtube who understand the case, i would be very happy if you help me 😊
Could you provide tips for extending this to the fastening of 2+ solid parts (with holes)? I havent been able to find a clear example or documentation of this (everything seems to be in terms of 2 shell components). I have to simulate the bolted attachment of 1 part with a hole to a composite laminate (modeled as a stack of solid plates that are surfaced tied to one another, not a shell) with a hole and im not quite sure how to go about specifying the points, coupling, and wires (which I would be applying a cartesian+alignment stiffness property/section). Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I am conducting a four point bending test, i want to connect the left and right support to one point where i can read the force from. How Can that be done ?? Thanks in Anticipation
I've been using abaqus on and off for 1o years and still learned new useful things - many thanks!
A very well explained video about creation of connectors . Thank you !
Glad it was helpful!

Thank you for this video. It was very helpfull. Please, could you do a video explaining more about fasteners analisys with zero space conections?

Did you achieve your model?

Is there a way to define a preload?
I would like to define the slip of the bolts in the connectors, what should I have to do?
how can i plot load slip curve?
